The next day at school, Kara walked in wearing a simple outfit — blue jeans, a black T-shirt, and white sneakers.
"Hey, babe." Todd called out, but Kara immediately stepped away.
"Hey," she said, forcing a polite smile.
"I was thinking," Todd began, trying to sound casual, "that the school's favorite couple should hold hands as they march into school."
"Well," Kara replied coolly, "I think the school's favorite couple should just march like normal people—no physical contact necessary."
With that, she turned and walked off.
Nearby, Kelvin raised an eyebrow.
"Yo, dude, what's going on? Where's Kara? I just saw you two smiling at each other, then she bailed."
Todd shrugged, frustration creeping into his voice.
"I have no idea, man. Something's definitely off."
Becky approached, carrying an air of impatience, glancing at Iris who was lugging her bags.
"What's up? Where's our girl? And why are you guys standing out here acting like someone died?"
Todd explained,
"Kara looked casual but cool today—her outfit was on point. But she refused to hold hands."
"She what?!" Becky gasped, eyes wide.
Iris leaned in, voice low.
"Todd, when was the last time you two got... intimate?"
Todd looked down, uneasy.
"Last week. It's weird that she's acting like this now."
Kelvin grinned slyly.
"I got an idea. There's a party at my cousin's place tonight. Invite her. There'll be drinks, drugs, and, of course, your performance."
Becky smirked, looping her arm through Kelvin's.
"Haha, she's a cowgirl now, right? No way she'll say no to that. Nice plan, babe."
Meanwhile, Kara entered the classroom alone. Heads turned—she was never alone anymore. Usually, she was flanked by her group or at least one member. But no one dared speak up to avoid a confrontation like Ana had faced.
Shortly after, the rest of the group arrived. Kelvin gave Todd a nod and slid over to sit next to Kara.
"Hey, bestest pal. You're invited to my cousin's party tonight. Remember Jack?" Kelvin asked with a teasing grin.
"Yeah, I remember. The shirtless guy, right?" Kara shot back, causing Kelvin to laugh.
"That's harsh, but yeah. There'll be a lot going on there—you know what I mean. So, you coming?"
