"Why would you do something like that?" Amelia's voice was tight with frustration as her sharp gaze locked on Davi.
The man didn't look injured. His mana reserves were low, but it was nothing a single mana potion and a day's rest couldn't fix. She knew he'd be at full strength again soon. That wasn't the point.
"I would have defeated him," she continued, her tone growing colder with every word. "There was no need for you to intervene… or to propose that duel. You can't even win with your current powers."
Davi lowered his head at first, the corners of his mouth tightening, but then his eyes rose to meet hers. There was no defiance in his expression, only conviction.
"Sorry for that," he said quietly but firmly. "But I need to win. I need to defeat him by myself."
Amelia's brows furrowed slightly.
