Chapter 63 - Run Silent, Run over

With the flick of her wrists, Kiara lets her dagger fly and cut through the air like a boomerang, piercing through one of the windshields of the enemy car. Walking over to the back of the car, she turns her back towards Adam as she tilts towards the ground.

Sparks pop in and out of the air as she teleports towards her dagger.

"Showoff," Adam jokes, as he jumps onto an enemy car of his own. He grabs the door handle, fiddling with it before remembering it's locked. A few gunshots nearly took his fingers off, with him in the process.

The gunman peeks his head through the window, looking up before Adam slams his shoe into the man's jaw, slamming him on the car door. After punching the body back inside, he inserts his hand into the car interior, unlocking the side door.

Once he opens the door, he pulls the unconscious gunman straight into the high-speed road as he enters.

"Yollo," Adam says, acting cool. The driver turns his head, completely befuddled, as to who is now sitting in his partner's seat.

The man reaches for his weapon, but Adam moves faster, jabbing his fingers flat into the man's throat. He clutches his windpipe. Then Adam slams his palm straight into the man's jaw, ricocheting his head into the car window before violently landing on the wheel.

Noticing this, Adam quickly leaps out of the open car door, holding onto a random family van. The kids inside scream at the top of their lungs, watching a random person hold onto dear life, and in their vehicle.

The mom somehow screams louder.

The Father tries to swerve Adam off the car–rude.

"Calm down!" Adam assures, hitching a different ride from a different car.

"What are they doing?" Zhang looks over his mirrors, witnessing the explosive carnage around him. "This is supposed to be discreet, not a spectacle, guys."

Suddenly, a black Cadillac crept up beside Zhang, ready to wish him a hello. Too bad for them, Zhang was not in the mood to say hi.

The gunman pulls out his little friend, a pistol, and starts blasting at Zhang. Immediately ducking, Zhang pulls his shoulders and neck close to dodge the wisps of death besieging him.

As the car pulls closer and closer, Zhang releases the wheel for just a second. His left arm shatters through the window, as his right shoots out to grab the gunman's arm with the pistol. Pulling the gunman inside, Zhang raises his arm up high, then down low, breaking his arm as if it were just mere wooden blocks.

Well, the gunman's arm is now bone dust.

"Ahhhh!" the man screams at the top of his lungs, as Zhang shoves him out of his car. As the gunman was momentarily stunned, Zhang clapped the wheel and rammed his own vehicle against the Cadillac, scraping it against the Jersey barrier.

A loud metallic screech rings throughout the highway as sparks pop and burst upon the scene.

"What are you doing?" the driver orders, trying to get Zhang off of them. "Fire him back!"

Zhang's eyes darted and quickly analyzed the damage he was inflicting on the Cadillac. Its tires rattle uncontrollably as its metal screws are screaming out for mercy. Turning the wheel, Zhang swerves back into a lane like nothing has happened.

The driver, using his momentum, quickly pursues him.

Something pops.

Then a tire dislocates and rolls out onto the streets.

Metal flies out like mere sheets of paper. The two men inside the Cadillac hold on for dear life as it flips not just once but twice, unceremoniously sliding across the road as shards of glass and metal fly in between them.

"Guys," The Emissary groans, confused. He smacks the edge of his laptop, watching the live surveillance footage. "You're better than this. You're all making us look bad."

"What have I done to this car?" Zhang peeks his head, taking a look at the destroyed paint job he just inflicted.

An enemy car crashes into a concrete barrier in the distance.

Meanwhile, the air around Kiara shimmers as if the fabric of space bent to her will.

A shot cracks through the ceiling, already expecting her arrival.

Kiara raises her leg, kicking her dagger through the glass shield, stabbing the cushion back seat, narrowly taking down a man in the back. Following a time lapse of 5 seconds, she teleports inside the car with a warp, the lightning crossfire momentarily distracting the men.

Pulling the dagger out of its cushion, she puts a strong elbow hit to the man next to her, then she takes the man and shoves him in the direction of the front.

Zhang slowly decelerates the car, trying to pick up Adam and Kiara along the way. The cars, however, trying to escape the danger, give him dirty looks for suddenly slowing down on a highway.

"Who taught you how to drive!" one angry grandma hollers, her voice pasting by for a mere wisp. Zhang, however, actually stayed pretty calm after the insult, yet his hand gripped harder on the wheel.

"Oh, there's my ride," Adam comments, jumping off the back of a truck. A sudden thud is heard, as the car vibrates for just a second.

"What the?" Zhang mutters, taking note of the noise.

Adam holds onto the edge of the car roof, legs dangling off the speeding asphalt road. He shoots his leg out to the passenger seat window, trying to maintain at least a decent footing. After making contact inside, he gradually fidgets and wiggles his way back inside the car; meanwhile, as the high-speed winds keep slapping his face for lunch money.

He exhales slowly, and at the same time, he reclines the seat back.

Back in the enemy car, Kiara coils her arm back, throwing her dagger through the front window.

Lunging forward, she grabs a hold of the wheel and spins it with one powerful twist of a knob.

"Baboosh," Kiara smirks.

The car spins around like a basket of clothes in a washing machine, constantly turning right round.

Pushing his partner's body off of him, the driver draws his weapon. Kiara gives out a lazy peace sign as her body teleports to the dagger.

Grabbing the dagger mid-air, she narrowly grabs onto the roof of a nearby car before spotting her getaway. Once landing, she slips right through the side window, not noticing Adam already sitting in her seat, as she lands directly on his lap.

"Bwof!" Adam exclaims, cheeks blushing.

"Adam," Kiara grumbles. "I already called shotgun."

Meanwhile, the enemy car continues spinning like a dreidel before crashing right through the ramp barrier. Their screams trail off into the distance as a mere French fry drops into a drop of ketchup.

"Whoops," she says, picking up the fry. Zhang picks up a fry and chews it without a thought. Adam passes by nearby diners as he brings over the tray of their order.

"You just want to eat fries, Zhang?" Adam asks.

"It's quick," Zhang answers, plopping one in his mouth. "Eat fast, we're on a time limit, remember. We can still reach the border if we eat fast enough."

Adam leans his shoulder next to Kiara.

"It's so weird, he's buying us lunch," he whispers, not trying to draw attention. Kiara nods, already devouring a double cheeseburger.
