Chapter 348 - Chapter 349 - The First Civil War (XVII)

"I like this world, even if it's full of wars. Maybe it's because I've come to love this family of incestuous weirdos." Miquella's thoughts upon seeing her uncles and aunts for the first time.

------------

Sitting at a table, all of Aenar's sons and daughters were present. Baelon, who was the youngest, did not look particularly strong; he looked more like a politician than a warrior, with no apparent muscles. Totally different from Maegor, who physically looked the largest and strongest among all of Aenar's children.

He smiled gently while showing a lazy and casual expression, which could be seen in his posture, almost lying in the chair, which made Jaehaerys, who valued etiquette, frown at the rude behavior.

However, Jaehaerys remained silent, as everyone's eyes were focused on the small figure of the girl with long golden hair. Although it was difficult to differentiate the gender of the Emperor's youngest granddaughter, Miquella had an androgynous beauty, so it was quite difficult to guess whether she was female or male.

(Note: maybe an animal? Just kidding, I want to stay away from those people who think they are animals... every video I see, I feel like I want to tear my eyes out.)

"Nieces and nephews, the Emperor has ordered that all of you attend the Imperial Senate's monthly meeting. All of you will be graced with titles and more fiefdoms before all of humanity in a live broadcast." Miquella did not feel nervous before the eyes of the princes and princesses; she spoke in a calm and gentle tone.

"It seems our father will appear before humanity after so long." Daenys, Aemon's wife, commented with a smile. No one would imagine that a woman who looked only twenty-five years old was the mother of more than twenty sons and daughters.

"The last time was when we were about to start the Age of Great Space Exploration." Aemon said with a slightly nostalgic tone. Before venturing into the immensity of space, the world seemed much simpler.

"Don't be so nostalgic, Jae. You didn't like King's Landing, always feeling suffocated by the immense walls. A third of your childhood was spent locked in your room because of your escapes." Jaehaerys mocked Aemon with a touch of amusement. It wasn't once or twice that Jaehaerys ran away from King's Landing. Every time he was captured back and confined to his room for a few months.

Jaehaerys couldn't help but feel embarrassed, especially with his obscure past being told before his aunt, his own daughter, and Robb Stark's granddaughter.

Saera wanted to laugh but held back, although her trembling shoulders indicated that she was laughing inside. Knowing her father's personality, she knew it was the purest truth. Even today, her father constantly runs away from the planet to venture into the universe riding his own dragon.

While Saera held back from laughing, the same could not be said for the others; everyone laughed without any hesitation. The memory of Jaehaerys being punished was very funny, especially when Rhaenys did not hesitate to punish her son.

Jaehaerys felt his world lose color before the laughter of his brothers and sisters; he felt he lost all the prestige he had. Knowing he had to change the subject, he looked at Aegon and then at Alysanne with a malicious smile.

"Sister, I heard you welcomed the matriarch of House Greyjoy, even raising the title of House Greyjoy. She must have been very useful in repressing the cultists of the True Humans Cult." As soon as Jaehaerys spoke, Alysanne wanted to slap her younger brother's presumptuous face.

The laughter stopped; everyone looked at Aegon and then at Alysanne with interest. Maegor, who had a faction in the Imperial Senate, looked at all this with an equally malicious smile.

As for the fear of Aegon, this might be true for other people, but it was definitely not true for the princes and princesses. They were Aenar's sons and daughters; why would they be afraid of their brother, even if he was powerful?

Except for Alysanne, everyone had equal status, so no one was intimidated by Aegon's cold gaze. They even smiled in provocation.

"What can I say? She's a pretty suitable dog; she always bites who she should bite. Especially rotten bones." Throwing some grapes into her mouth, Alysanne spoke with an indifferent tone. As for Aegon? If Aenar's sons and daughters didn't fear him, this was even more true for her. Her eyes were focused on Aegon when she spoke about rotten bones.

Aegon's face was calm, but his eyes seemed to freeze a star; his slightly clenched jaw was visible to everyone. While the Civil War was happening, Alysanne took the opportunity to clean up his supporters. If he had about a hundred members in the Imperial Senate, now he had thirty!

These thirty were clean and had no criminal records, which is why they escaped being killed or arrested during these two years.

At the same time, his reputation plummeted. Who would support Aegon if he couldn't even protect his allies? The fight in the Imperial Senate was marked by the Imperial Family controlling everything, so choosing a faction was choosing to offend a member of the Imperial House.

Because of this, they hoped to get the protection of another prince to confront the factions of the other princes and princesses. But apparently, Aegon couldn't protect his own allies, which greatly harmed his reputation.

Even gaining a lot of fame in the civil war, he was still greatly affected. The most despicable thing was that Alysanne also cleaned up her own faction, which demonstrated impartiality and justice in the eyes of the people, politicians, and nobles.

"Thank you for your help, sister." Aegon spoke in a calm tone. "These poor bones were feeding on the Imperium while doing nothing. It was fair that they were arrested or killed. All for the good of the Imperium."

"I'm glad you understood that, as it saves me the time of reminding you that, just like the commoners, we are our father's servants. And servants must have the mentality of servants and serve the Imperium with body, soul, and mind." Alysanne spoke with a smile, but every word she said made Aegon's expression change slightly.

Miquella, who was also eating some grapes, had her cheeks puffed out with so many grapes accumulated in her mouth, looking like an adorable squirrel.

Looking at the scene before her, she understood why her grandmothers loved to see conspiracies and political fights; it was incredibly interesting to see powerful people fighting each other. It was like dogs fighting over a bone.

Seeing Aegon's expression, Princes Aemon and Jaehaerys seemed satisfied with what was happening. They really didn't like Aegon, who always had an arrogant expression, as if everyone owed him money.

It was extremely irritating to be treated with such pride, even if everyone's status was equal. Especially by Aegon, who thought he was the sun and that everyone should orbit around him, as if he were someone really important.

Aegon's gaze couldn't be darker at this moment; his robotic arm began to itch with an unbearable itch. It was a symptom of energy overload in the robotic arm itself, connected to Aegon's nervous system.

"I will remember the Crown Princess's words; I will give a generous reward for the help." Aegon spoke in a cold tone. Having said that, he stood up and left with a calm expression, but seeing his clenched fists, everyone knew that the Imperial Palace would lose a few more vases and marble statues.

"Sister, you were precise in your words." Daenys commented with a smile; she looked at Alysanne with an amused expression. As a member of Alysanne's faction, she was more than satisfied with her sister putting Aegon in his place.

Alysanne smiled and changed the subject, still with an elegant expression. "Prepare for the impact in the Imperial Senate; the law I proposed will make all the nobles hostile to me."

Her words caught everyone's attention, especially Maegor's. Seeing the gaze of everyone who was focused on her, Alysanne explained the law she presented to her father two years ago.

When everyone heard that Alysanne proposed the law of meritocracy for nobles to inherit their own titles, everyone understood the implications of this. It was something incredibly good for the Imperium, as it would extinguish these stupid and hedonistic nobles, but it was something incredibly bad for the nobles themselves.

Alysanne would practically become the enemy of all the nobility, including the nobility of her own faction. In the eyes of others, it was shooting herself in the foot, but in the eyes of the princes and princesses, it was a shot at the corruption of the Imperium.

In their view as Princes and Princesses, these nobles should have disappeared a long time ago. Maegor looked at his older sister with admiration. As a prince, Alysanne's actions were good, but as a politician, he wished Alysanne was expelled from the senate.

"Good luck, sister." Maegor spoke with a happy smile, quite satisfied that Alysanne had lost a lot of political power.

Alysanne rolled her eyes at her brother's exceptionally happy declaration. However, she did not regret her actions. As Crown Princess, it was her duty to value the Imperium.
