Chapter 336 - Chapter 337 - The First Civil War (V)

"You have to feed your dog daily, or he will think you are not the leader, and he will start fighting you for food." Alysanne's thoughts on dog training.

Baron Hopkins looked at Asha with a furious gaze and smiled gently at the stunning woman with silver hair and purple eyes, the supreme symbols of the Targaryen House's blood purity.

"Princess, your beauty is even more exquisite than the rumors suggest; those bards couldn't even capture 1% of your beauty." A series of compliments flowed from the Baron's mouth, making everyone look at the old man with surprised glances.

Only Asha looked at the Baron with a smile full of interest.

But she wasn't surprised; humans who usually live a long time have long lost their sense of shame.

As long as they could stay alive, many would even accept being slaves to another noble house, which showed how decadent these nobles were. Asha even felt that the Baron wasn't humiliating himself enough.

Fortunately, Aenar had foreseen this and created the New Nobles, who were more ambitious and warlike than these relics of ancient eras.

Alysanne, who knew the character of these old-guard nobles very well, was not at all surprised by the scene before her. She did not respond to the Baron and looked at Asha with a smile.

"Merit and demerit have always been something the Imperium handled with justice; the Viscountess contributed to the Imperium, so she has the right to ask something of the Imperium." Alysanne commented, leaning back in her chair and continuing to look at Asha with interest.

"I wish to serve the princess." Asha did not hesitate and knelt while looking at Alysanne with a calm gaze, though the wicked smile on her lips had never disappeared. Honestly, she felt that this civil war was the key for House Greyjoy to return to its former glory and become a Ducal House, controlling an entire solar system.

"I have many helpers, Viscountess." Alysanne said in a calm tone; she didn't lie when she said this; she truly had a large number of helpers, so she didn't need another one in her faction.

"Unlike the useless people by your side, I can do the dirty work for the Princess. Just order me who to kill, who to poison, or even which man the princess wants to kidnap to warm her bed on a cold night." Asha spoke with a wide smile on her lips.

"Aside from the part about kidnapping men to satisfy me, I am quite interested in your proposal, Viscountess." Alysanne showed a satisfied expression, hearing Asha's words, and spoke with an elegant smile on her lips.

Asha felt her shoulders relax, knowing that she had made the right bet and had finally returned to the center of the Imperium's power after thousands of years. Her father would be proud of her for achieving this.

"If I give you the Baron for interrogation, will I receive the information I want in a day?" Looking at the Baron, Alysanne asked in a slightly cold tone. She could use House Greyjoy, but only if they were useful.

Asha's smile grew; looking at the Baron, she said in a chilling tone, "A day? That's too long, Princess; the report will be on the princess's desk in an hour."

Alysanne was even more satisfied with Asha; she felt that things would be easier with a figure like Asha working for her. After all, having a dog to do the dirty work was very good; she didn't need to tarnish her impeccable reputation.

When Asha was about to speak, the office door opened again, and a huge man in heavy armor entered. The faces of Asha, Garan, and everyone around changed drastically; they knelt and dared not look at the man's figure again.

"Primarch Sigismund, may your name shine like the stars and make the souls of the Imperium's enemies tremble." Asha spoke with a respectful tone, not even daring to show her characteristic smile.

She could be more casual with the princess, but it was another matter with the Primarchs, the beings who held the greatest weight in the Imperium, second only to the God-Emperor and the Three Queens of House Targaryen.

Not that the Imperial Princes and Princesses were not important, but Aenar's children were not involved in the armed forces, so the Primarchs' weight was greater in the eyes of the people and nobles.

Sigismund looked at the woman and frowned, remembering who she was. "I saw your brother and the entire army of the Iron Islands die under the flames of the Red King, Caraxes." He said in a deep voice.

Asha sighed upon hearing this; her brother practically lost all of House Greyjoy's power when he died, making her situation extremely bad, with only a handful of sailors accompanying her.

If she hadn't been bold enough to kneel before Aenar, even after what happened, House Greyjoy would have fallen from a Great House to mere commoners without power or influence.

"Princess, remember that a dog that doesn't respect its owner growls and bites. Clear discipline and punishments can help control these people." Without caring what Asha and Garan would think, Sigismund advised Alysanne in a slightly gentle tone.

Surprisingly, Asha and Garan continued to smile as if they hadn't heard such humiliating words. Feeling humiliated? What is that? Is it for eating? Both didn't care what others thought of them; only power and money truly moved them.

If Alysanne could give them power and money, Asha didn't mind getting on all fours and even barking, acting like a true dog.

Looking at Asha and Garan, who remained the same even after hearing such humiliating words, Alysanne agreed with Sigismund's words: these people were dangerous if not disciplined. She would hate to be bitten back by the dog she raised.

"Everyone besides Primarch Sigismund, Asha, and Garan must leave." Alysanne gave the orders, and the Sardaukar struck their fists against their chests and left the office without hesitation.

"After interrogating the Baron, you two have orders to kill Aegon's supporters, especially those close to him." Alysanne ordered with an elegant smile. "I don't care about the methods, only the result."

Alysanne's words were simple: I allow you to kill, torture, and steal; I just want them dead.

Asha and Garan's smiles couldn't be wider at this moment; both didn't expect to go on such an important mission right after submitting to Princess Alysanne. As for the consequences, they didn't care. Dogs only needed to obey their owner.

If the Princess couldn't even protect them, she might as well renounce her titles and withdraw from politics, as she was not worthy of supporting an entire faction.

"They died, and the last thing they saw was the face of death." Asha replied with a respectful tone. She was really eager to see Prince Aegon's expression when he discovered that his allies were dying in droves.

She could imagine that he would be furious, at the very least. At the same time, Asha also knew the purpose of killing Prince Aegon's allies. Aegon couldn't even protect his allies; who would dare ally with someone so incompetent?

"Princess, if I may speak, I advise you to reinforce the security of your allies, because when we start killing, Prince Aegon will retaliate." Asha didn't need to explain her intentions much.

A fool could see that Alysanne was behind the assassinations, especially with House Greyjoy's arrival at the Princess Regent's side. Even without proof, it was almost certain that Alysanne was behind the assassinations.

Asha never underestimated her enemies; she managed to survive for a thousand years because she knew that one should never underestimate a rabbit; even the most docile of rabbits would go mad if cornered.

Alysanne looked at Asha with a surprised gaze but nodded, agreeing with Asha's advice. She also knew that Aegon would retaliate and would be ready when that happened.

If she could get proof of these assassinations, she could even remove Aegon from the Imperial Senate. This would be an absolute victory, and she would gain many seats in the Senate. At this moment, even Alysanne wanted Aegon to actually send assassins so she could get proof.

Watching Asha and Garan's backs disappear, Sigismund spoke again in a calm and cold tone. "They are mad dogs; they will do anything for money and power. Be careful not to be betrayed."

"Don't worry, the leash I prepared for them is especially strong." Alysanne smiled, thinking about the ways she would control House Greyjoy. After all, she herself knew that dogs could be difficult to tame.

Sigismund nodded with satisfaction, seeing that Alysanne was truly prepared to control Asha and Garan Greyjoy and did not think that just because she was Crown Princess, everyone should obey her.

"I came to warn you that the Aeldari are moving suspiciously on the Imperium's border." Sigismund commented in a cold tone. He had no idea who would be stupid enough to think that the Human Race was weak with this civil war.

Although the Civil War might seem serious to the eyes of commoners and noble houses, only they knew that all of this was nothing more than an artificially created crisis. As long as the God-Emperor and the Twenty-Two Legions of Adeptus Astartes were alive, such a thing as subversion of power would never exist.
