**Lockjaw**, despite having the appearance of a giant dog and exhibiting habits very similar to one, was actually a person. It was only because of his awakened ability that his physical form had transformed into that of a massive canine.
Lockjaw possessed the power of telepathic teleportation, an incredibly useful ability. Members of the Royal Family frequently relied on him for assistance. If **Hive** and **Maximus** wanted to get somewhere as quickly as possible, Lockjaw was their best bet; that was why **Black Bolt** was certain Lockjaw would know their whereabouts.
Black Bolt contacted Lockjaw by lightly rapping on his communicator with his knuckles, producing a crisp clicking sound.
"A secret code?"
Hiding in the shadows, Mike let out a low chuckle. He had been wondering how Black Bolt communicated with others.
After several rhythmic taps, a blurred figure appeared behind Black Bolt, solidifying as Black Bolt turned to look.
Upon seeing Black Bolt, Lockjaw affectionately nudged his chest. However, he suddenly seemed to catch a scent, sniffing toward the spot where Mike was hidden and assuming an aggressive stance.
But before he could let out a sound, Mike appeared in front of him. With one hand, Mike pressed Lockjaw's head down, pinning him to the ground with a thud. His other hand, glowing with a silver-blue light, pressed against the back of the dog's head.
The parasites were sucked out, and Lockjaw regained his freedom. He shook his head in a daze, looking toward Black Bolt.
Black Bolt stroked Lockjaw's head and nodded, confirming they had indeed been controlled. He then used brainwaves to instruct Lockjaw to take them to Maximus and Hive. Lockjaw gave a nod of understanding.
"Then let's move fast. Let's find Hive first!" Mike said, rubbing his chin.
Maximus was likely still immersed in his daydream of impending success; he might as well let the man dream a little longer. After all, once they met, it would be time for him to say goodbye to this world.
Mike reached out toward Lockjaw. The giant dog instinctively lowered his head, his neck shrinking back.
Mike laughed. "I'm not going to hit you!" He gently patted Lockjaw's head.
Lockjaw's tense body relaxed, and he promptly vanished with Mike and Black Bolt.
---
In the next instant, Mike was brought by Lockjaw into a war room within **Attilan**. Mike froze at the sight before him.
Traps, ambushes... Mike had expected those possibilities. But he certainly hadn't expected to find everyone unconscious.
"Was it Charles?" Mike realized, feeling somewhere between amused and exasperated. He hadn't expected his son to accidentally knock out Hive.
"How are you okay?" Mike asked Lockjaw.
Lockjaw shook his head. Sensing Lockjaw's thoughts through telepathy, Mike couldn't help but laugh. "You're quite the clever one."
It turned out that as soon as Lockjaw saw Clark bringing Charles to Attilan from a distance, he had immediately hidden far away. When Charles used his power and the Inhumans of Attilan began falling in waves, Lockjaw had been so terrified that he fled the city entirely. He only reappeared when he received Black Bolt's signal, only to be face-planted into the dirt by Mike the moment he arrived. He had been panicking internally.
Mike chuckled, disconnected the telepathy, and looked toward Hive, who was lying unconscious on the floor. He recognized Hive's appearance from Black Bolt's memories.
*Is this him?*
Mike walked over and used his foot to lightly flip Hive's body over, revealing his face. Mike nodded; based on the memories, this was indeed Hive.
But...
Mike's eyes narrowed as he noticed the man's heart had stopped beating. Something felt strange.
*How is he dead?*
Just then, a swarm of flying parasites erupted from a person standing behind Mike, surging toward him like a cloud.
"Oh?" Mike murmured, moving with a quick flash to dodge.
Watching a grim-faced female Inhuman rise from the ground, Mike sneered, "So you swapped bodies? You were trying to steal mine just now?"
Upon hearing this, Hive—now occupying the female Inhuman's body—pupils shrunk. **Mike Kent** seemed to know a great deal about him.
"You certainly are bold," Mike said with a smile. Two beams of heat vision erupted from his eyes, piercing through Hive's new body before he could even react.
Simultaneously, a massive cloud of parasites flew out of the woman's body like shifting sand, masking Mike's vision while a small detachment crept toward Black Bolt. From Hive's perspective, this was his only chance at survival.
Mike ceased his heat vision. Seeing the swarm of parasites obscuring his sight, his body lit up with a silver-blue glow. Instantly, every parasite that touched that light vanished.
This was **Lash's** ability. While Lash's overall power wasn't extraordinary, he was Hive's natural nemesis. Much like Hive himself—whose power wasn't physically overwhelming but could control all Inhumans—Lash was an anomaly among his kind.
Meanwhile, the small swarm heading for Black Bolt was easily annihilated by the King's low grunt. He had been controlled once; he had no intention of being manipulated or infested again.
The next moment, the flying parasites suddenly scattered, heading toward all the unconscious Inhumans in the conference room.
"Hmph!"
Mike let out a low shout. Streaks of silver-blue light flew from his body, enveloping the entire room.
"No! NO!"
Accompanied by a roar of unwilling fury, every parasite vanished into the silver-blue light, including those still inside the bodies of the controlled victims. Seconds later, the light faded, and Hive was completely eradicated.
After using his lingering telepathy and super vision to confirm no parasites remained, Mike turned to Lockjaw. "This place is dealt with. Take me to Maximus."
Lockjaw looked at Black Bolt. The King nodded and placed a hand on Lockjaw. He had a score to settle with his younger brother. Once Mike placed his hand on the dog, the three of them vanished.
---
With a blur, Mike appeared inside a base. He immediately activated his super vision and super hearing, even sweeping out with his telepathy.
Nothing. He found nothing. Aside from the three of them, there wasn't a fourth person in the facility.
If Maximus had a psychic dampener to block telepathy, how could he hide from super vision and hearing? The most likely conclusion was that Maximus simply wasn't here.
"He's not here," Mike said, his voice turning cold.
Lockjaw shivered, his massive body shrinking behind Black Bolt. Black Bolt patted Lockjaw's head and pointed to his own temple. Understanding the gesture, Mike linked them telepathically.
"Maximus is suspicious by nature," Black Bolt's voice echoed in Mike's mind. "Since he had Lockjaw bring him here, this most likely isn't his true base. However, given his character, he shouldn't be too far away."
Mike raised an eyebrow and told Lockjaw, "Take us out. I'll check the surrounding area."
Lockjaw gave Mike a fawning lick and teleported them outside.
Knowing that Maximus carried a psychic dampener, Mike soared into the sky. He hovered at a high altitude, activating his super vision and super hearing to monitor the area for any sign of Maximus.
With super hearing fully engaged, Mike could hear even the sound of an ant crawling on the ground. If Maximus spoke a single word anywhere in this region, Mike would hear it and pinpoint his location.
Suddenly, it felt as though the sounds of the entire world were flooding into Mike's ears. A father scolding his son, the whispers of lovers, the creaking of beds, the whistling wind, the scuttling of animals, the buzzing of insects...
These sounds converged into a torrent, crashing into Mike's brain and creating immense pressure. Had Mike not trained his mind constantly, the sensory overload of super hearing alone could have broken a newly arrived Kryptonian.
Mike ignored the noise, focusing solely on the sound of Maximus's voice which he had heard in Black Bolt's memories, acting as a filter. To his frustration, several minutes passed without a trace.
Mike opened his eyes, a flash of helplessness appearing within them. Time was of the essence. Just as he was about to call **Little Rum** to use his abilities to find the target, he caught a sound of suppressed, excited laughter.
"Found you!"
The guy hadn't been able to hold it in after all.
Mike's eyes flashed as he looked toward the source. Inside a detached residential house, Maximus was staring at a monitor, his face flush with excitement.
As the mutants of Planet Kent continuously appeared on Earth to help deal with the Terrigen Mist, the defenses on Planet Kent weakened. Finally, Maximus had initiated the **Eradication Plan**. When he saw the Terrigen Mist descending over Kent City like a falling veil, he could no longer suppress his joy and let out a low cheer.
"Soon... soon this world will be left with only the great Inhuman race!"
The words had barely left his mouth when—accompanied by a thunderous boom and the shriek of a gale—Maximus felt a sudden chill.
"What did you say?"
A cold voice rang out from behind him. Maximus turned his head with stiff, jerky movements.
A gaping hole had appeared in the roof. A figure radiating oppressive power, as if the weight of the entire world was pressing down on him, stared back coldly. A black cape swayed gently behind him, appearing to mock Maximus's cowardice.
**Mike Kent.**
Maximus suddenly felt his throat go dry with terror. Though he had imagined this scene, even fantasizing that he would remain calm and proud before Mike Kent, the actual presence of the man caused a seed of dread to sprout and expand rapidly in his heart.
"What did you just say?" Mike asked again, a red glow flickering in his eyes.
Maximus twitched the corners of his mouth, trying his best to force a smile before speaking rapidly: "Planet Kent is finished. The mutants are finished. The Terrigen Mist will consume them, and the Inhumans will awaken within the fog."
The Terrigen Crystals were truly a gift from the heavens. After speaking, Maximus took a deep breath, an uncontrollable smile spreading across his face.
Though he knew he would face Mike Kent's fury and likely lose his life, he had completed his plan. He would be a hero—a legend who helped the Inhumans become even greater and secured two planets for his kind! At that thought, his fear of Mike Kent began to dissipate.
To his surprise, however, Mike didn't show the anger or rage he expected. Instead, Mike looked at him with an expression of pure mockery.
"You think those... 'Terrigen Mists' are enough?"
"Of course!" Maximus said with unwavering confidence. "I have conducted many experiments. Mutants have zero chance of surviving within the Terrigen Mist!"
"Perhaps," Mike shrugged, his tone sounding like a final sentence. "But you're going to die here."
"What does that matter?" Maximus shouted, sounding like a "saint" who had achieved his life's purpose and could die without regrets. "I have made the Inhuman race great. I have given them Earth and Planet Kent. Every Inhuman will remember me!"
"You think doing this makes you a hero?" Mike looked at Maximus in bewilderment.
"Hahahaha!" Mike laughed loudly, his laughter dripping with the kind of mockery that made Maximus's blood boil.
Title: Chapter 608 The Final Voice
Suddenly, Mike's laughter ceased, and he said coldly, "Become great? Ha! You've only made the Inhumans loathed, turning them into the enemies of this world."
Maximus looked at Mike calmly; he believed Mike was lying to him, merely resorting to sharp-tongued rhetoric out of powerlessness.
Mike pointed a finger at the screen behind Maximus and smiled faintly. "You underestimate Planet Kent far too much."
The moment the Terrigen Mist appeared, Joe-El—who monitored the entire planet, or rather, who currently *was* Planet Kent—immediately detected the anomaly and took action.
Joe-El's body, formed from the Light of the Planet, appeared at the planetary core. With a calm expression, he manipulated the Reality Stone to transform the descending Terrigen Mist into harmless gas. Then, controlling both the Light of the Planet and the Reality Stone, he caused an unnatural wind to surge from the ground toward the sky. After activating the protective shield covering the entire planet, he forced the Terrigen Mist out into space, where it dissipated into nothingness.
The entire process did not cause harm to a single mutant.
Seeing this, Maximus's expression turned vacant, as if he had been struck by lightning.
"This is impossible! This is impossible!"
Maximus screamed.
"Nothing is impossible!"
Mike's voice suddenly rang in his ear, and it was the final voice he would ever hear.
