Chapter 30 - Chapter 30

Luna stood next to Nora, and she was still apprehensive. Ace had said he would leave her alone, so she hoped that he would keep his word.

"What made you come back?"

"Ace said he would stop bothering me."

"Do you believe him?"

"I'm all nerves, so I can't be sure if he means it."

"Well, it's time for him to prove himself."

"Huh?"

"He is here."

"I'm sure he wants you." Said Carrie.

"No, he said he would not bother me."

"I don't want to get yelled at," Carrie replied.

"You won't."

Carrie went and came back with a huge smile, "You were right."

She nodded,

"I think he might like me." Carrie carried on.

"Yes, Sienna too and all his other concubines," Nora added.

Carrie and Nora left to serve their tables, and she scanned the room and found Ace's gaze. He made her shiver. Why was he looking at her like that?

She quickly averted her gaze, not wanting to send the wrong message, besides, he had lied. He had said that he would wait for her, but already found a substitute.

Days went by, and Ace kept his word. Tonight, she walked into the restaurant, and the manager called them all over.

"Tonight there will be a private dinner, Ace has booked the whole place."

They nodded,

"I need you all to be on your best behaviour, and anything that he asks for, give it to him. No is not in your vocabulary."

Luna wanted to roll her eyes very badly, how their manager loved money.

"Luna."

She snapped out of her thoughts,

"Yes, Sir?"

"Be on your best behaviour."

Why was he singling her out when everyone else was here?

She nodded, "Of course."

"You will serve the main table."

"Why does Luna get to serve them?" Sienna protested.

"Because I say so, and besides, we need to please Ace."

"I know Ace better."

"You are not changing my mind, Luna is the one serving them and that's that."

They dispersed, and the night began slowly. Luna watched as the guests filed in.

Finally, Ace walked in, and the atmosphere changed. They began to serve them, and Luna went to their table.

Luna got their drink orders, and when it was Ace's turn, she swallowed with the way he was looking at her.

He seemed to have a bit of gloom in his eyes,

"Whisky."

She nodded, "If that is all."

Luna came back with the drinks and served them. She was surprised as to how they drank like fish, and some were becoming sloppily drunk.

"Do you gentlemen need anything?"

"I want you." One of the guys slurred out when she went to check up on them.

She pulled her hand free. "That is not what I meant."

"I could buy you."

Luna kept her calm and composed, just get through the night. She ignored the rude man,

"A lowly waitress is ignoring me."

She swallowed, "No, Sir, I was merely asking in regards to anymore drinks or food."

"Well, I don't want any of those."

"Sorry then, Sir, we don't offer those services here."

"Just let me taste you."

"Stop it before I shoot you."

They both were shocked at Ace's words,

"She is just a wench," The guy responded nervously.

"Maybe I should cut that tongue off."

Luna's eyes widened; she did not know if Ace meant it or not. Yet with the way he said it, she could see that it could become true.

"There is no need." She cut in wanting to diffuse the situation.

"Stay out of it, Luna," Ace replied.

"She is not worth much." The guy let out.

Luna wanted to slap him; she was trying her best to save him, but he would not listen. She was grateful at the same time that Ace was standing up for her.

He did care about her, but she shook it out of her head, not wanting to think of Ace in that manner.

"One more word from you, I dare you," Ace replied.

Everyone at the table seemed to be nervous. You could cut the tension with a knife.

"I apologize, I didn't mean to offend you." The man let out.

"Dessert?" She let out.

Some nodded, and Luna scurried away.

"What happened?" Nora asked.

Luna gave her a brief explanation,

"He has it bad for you," Nora replied.

"First time I'm thankful that he is here."

"Never thought you would say those words."

"As cruel as he is, he did save me."

"Are you softening up to him?"

"Not like that, Nora, just a bit grateful."

"I get it."

Luna took the dessert back to their table, and they were in deep discussions,

"No, the weapons.........."

"A million............"

"We take them out and problem solved......…."

"At what risk?..................."

Luna did not understand a single word, nor did she want to. She stole a glance at Ace, as cruel as he was, he too was considerate.

He was chiselled to perfection, she hit herself mentally, snap out of it, Luna, he is a killer and has done so many horrible things.

Yet he had defended her, did that show that he cared? Or was this all a front for her? Luna's eyes widened when she found Ace looking back at her.

He had a question in his eyes, and she knew what it was.

Why was she looking at him?

She finished placing the desserts and went back to the front.
