Chapter 393: The Street Rascals' Resonance
Steven had barely reached the door to Kal'tsit's office when he noticed her—a white-haired girl standing quietly by the entrance, just as Ceobe had described.
But upon a closer look, he found something surprising.
Her hair might've been pure white, but her eyes… they weren't the red he'd imagined—they shimmered instead with a deep violet glow.
She hadn't said who she was, yet his instincts were telling him all he needed to know.
This was the one Ceobe mentioned—the girl who always brought delicious treats and all sorts of curious things.
Even before she spoke, her presence was enough to say everything else.
The aura rolling off her body was overwhelming—comparable to the Abyssal Hunters, perhaps even surpassing those Seaborn ones by a fair margin.
Steven could say for certain that he'd never felt anyone on Rhodes Island with power like this.
If he were to compare her to those so-called "Feranmut Incarnation" band girls… then, well—she'd still come out stronger, no question about it.
This ship sure was full of hidden monsters, wasn't it?
It's more interesting than he'd imagined, that's for sure.
With a small grin, Steven narrowed his eyes and offered a friendly smile.
The white-haired, violet-eyed girl noticed him at once, and, mirroring his gesture, narrowed her own eyes with equal curiosity.
But while Steven could read her status bar and health bar hovering faintly above her head—judging her strength at a glance—the girl clearly didn't have the same luxury.
No matter how she looked at him, this new kid seemed… utterly ordinary. Just a regular human boy.
And yet, her instincts, honed from once being a fragment of Sui, screamed a warning deep inside her:
Do not underestimate this one.
That raw, primal sense of threat and unease stirred a strange curiosity in her chest.
"Hey, little one," she called out first, her tone light and friendly, "you here to see Kal'tsit too?"
Her voice was pleasant—soft yet lively—and the accent… It reminded Steven of his old College roommate's way of talking back before he crossed into Minecraft, and considering that he's from China….
Then she must be from Yan.
As he studied the girl more closely, he noticed a few other intriguing details.
The pair of crimson dragon horns curling proudly atop her head.
The fiery, mane-framed tail swaying lightly behind her, resembling the kind only eastern dragons possessed.
Every bit of her screamed "dragon"—but not the western kind like Talulah.
Steven had long suspected that if this world had western dragons, then surely eastern ones existed too.
And now, looking at her, that little theory of his was finally confirmed.
Even if she wasn't a true "Eastern dragon" per se, the traits were enough proof of one thing—whoever she was, she definitely wasn't someone to be taken lightly.
Steven half-squinted his eyes, glancing at the title hovering faintly above the girl's head, and the smile on his face deepened.
[Fragment of God — Nian]
A short and simple title, yet it was enough to spark his curiosity.
He hadn't actually seen what "gods" of Terra looked like before.
If someone dared to call themselves a god, they must have the power to back it up, right?
Sure, he himself could probably count as a god-slayer by now… but that didn't mean he wasn't curious about the gods of this world.
On the contrary—he'd love to meet one.
And if they could become friends? Even better.
But for now, he kept things friendly, answering the girl's question with a warm smile.
"Yeah," he said, "she called me here. And you, miss—did she summon you too?"
The girl didn't give off any hostility.
She radiated that same lazy, mischievous energy that he knew all too well.
And as someone who also had a knack for finding—or causing—trouble when bored, he couldn't help but feel an odd connection.
Maybe… they'd actually get along.
"Not really," the girl replied, voice playful. "I came here on my own! It's that time of year again—Yan New Year, you know? Thought I'd drop by and borrow a few Operators, maybe shoot a few films together. And what about you, little one? It's pretty rare for Kal'tsit to invite someone into her office."
She somehow produced a folding fan out of nowhere, snapping it open with a flick! and covering half her face. Only her violet eyes, glimmering with laughter, peeked over the edge.
"Films?" Steven blinked, intrigued. "Isn't Rhodes Island supposed to be a medical company? Since when did it start doubling as a film studio?"
Now this was interesting.
He knew this world's tech tree was crooked, but cinema? That was a new one.
And the fact that someone came to Kal'tsit to talk movies—well, that opened up a whole new dimension of absurdity.
"As for me," Steven continued with a grin, "I'm just here to catch up with her. Why don't you go first? I don't mind sitting in and listening. Actually…"
He chuckled.
"If you need an extra for your film, I wouldn't mind giving it a shot."
He didn't even try to hide his interest.
A movie shoot? That was something he'd never experienced before. No way he was letting that opportunity slip by.
"Oh? Is that so?" The girl tilted her head slightly, lowering her fan just enough to reveal a teasing smile. "Then, let's introduce ourselves properly. Nian—just a regular guest of Rhodes Island. My hobbies? Hotpot, movies, and mahjong. Nice to meet you."
She extended a hand—her palm covered in strange red markings that looked half like paint, half like ritual symbols.
Steven didn't hesitate for a moment. He grasped her hand firmly, smiling in return.
"Steve," he said. "A traveler… staying on Rhodes Island, for now."
