Third Person's POV
Soon, the cat's eyes softened, and the tension in its body ebbed away.
Taking that as acceptance, Ethan's finger began to glow with a faint white light.
Carefully, he drew a complex, abstract rune across its brow with each of his strokes pulsing with a controlled energy.
Once complete, he dragged the glowing rune from the cat's head and gently pressed it against Velcy's forehead.
The runes shimmered and then sank into their skin and vanished like water into sand.
Velcy gasped and her eyes widened as a fresh awareness bloomed inside her.
It was none other than a subtle but warm connection to the little creature.
Ethan finally handed her the sandy cat, and it didn't resist this time.
Instead, it curled into her arms with natural familiarity, as if it had always belonged there.
The two began to play immediately, their bond seamless and spirited.
Just as Ethan had guessed, the cat had likely wandered into the carriage because it was drawn to Velcy's aura.
