By the time that Gideon and Edgar came back, Sam and Mr. Collins were back, tea and a few snacks were served, and Cass was back to working after he had spoken a little bit more with Lucian.
The dragon had soothed Cass, talking him back down from the edge to the point that Cass got bold enough and asked Lucian if he was okay with Gideon and Edgar getting close. The way that Lucian had smiled at Cass, all warm and soft had made something inside of Cass twist.
In a good way, but in a way that made Cass feel flustered and twitchy. He wasn't used to these kinds of moments without something going wrong, but nothing did.
Lucian admitted that while he wasn't exactly pleased that Gideon could join their fold, was likely to join their fold, he didn't hate Gideon entirely.
