Helen was a little calmer by the time Oriol arrived. Not that she trusted this new Pablo, but at least the weight of his behavior from the night in Sitges had been lifted. She could only trust the boy's word that Oriol wouldn't change because of her.
"Man, you're both here, has the hatchet been buried?"
"You're an idiot, Ori..."
"Fuck, that's not what this meeting was about..."
"It's all cleared up, man, isn't it, Helen?"
The girl nodded as she gestured to a waiter to come over and order more beers. Pablo then asked openly, "Have you heard from Laia? Are you all right?"
"Well, I don't know, Pablo. She's weird, and not just because of you. It's like something's happened to her. She spends all day locked up with her grandmother, she barely goes out..."
The vampire had more information. Laia had just learned she was a witch and was currently receiving intensive training from her grandmother. It would probably take her months to return to her normal young life.
