Chapter 456 - Chapter 455: Curse, Weakening

Cairo, Egypt.

Euryale was strolling along the street, preparing to depart for South Africa to capture Lu Jun.

Unexpectedly, her expression changed drastically. A tremendous terror suddenly rose within her mind, an intense aura of death descending. She couldn't help but look up toward the sky.

Buzz buzz buzz!

The void was utterly silent as a streak of black light tore through the air. No matter what methods Euryale employed, she was unable to block it.

In the next instant, the black arrow pierced through layers of shields and sank straight into the demoness's forehead.

"Ah!"

The mature, alluring woman let out a pained scream. She felt a sharp stab in her mind, her vision spinning violently. Along with it came the vast erosion of a psychic curse, her demonic power weakening as her perception of Lu Jun was forcibly severed.

All of this happened in an extremely restrained manner. Super-tier Curse Magic was unlike elemental magic such as lightning, fire, or ice, which produced overwhelming spectacle, wide impact, and overt destruction. Curse Magic targeted the individual alone, acting inwardly rather than outwardly.

To outside observers, it merely felt like an inexplicable chill passing over their bodies, a sudden sense of cold—nothing more than a strange woman screaming for no apparent reason nearby.

Euryale's condition was extremely poor. Her consciousness was muddled, and she sensed a bizarre energy spreading rampantly within her body, wreaking havoc. If it wasn't suppressed quickly, it would only grow worse with time, eventually killing her.

Left with no choice, she clutched her head and staggered away from the crowd, retreating into a dark corner of an alley.

Before Euryale could mobilize her vast demonic power to dispel the strange curse, ripples spread through the void above, and one black arrow after another tore through space, flying toward her.

At the sight of this, Euryale's expression turned ugly, an ominous premonition rising within her. Her instincts told her that if she were struck consecutively by these bizarre, illusory arrows, the stacked damage would be enough to deal her a devastating blow.

Boom—!

Euryale no longer cared about exposing herself. She suddenly revealed her true form. In this densely packed urban district, a vast and overwhelming power erupted. The ground split open in layered waves of earth, countless buildings collapsing as clouds of dust billowed into the air.

The innocent humans living there were thrown into panic, instantly buried beneath falling structures, their fates unknown. In the blink of an eye, several square kilometers were reduced to hell on earth.

Amid the swirling yellow sand, a graceful figure expanded infinitely. Wings blotted out the sky, a massive, sinuous body coiled in the air. A shrill screech rang out as dim curse fluctuations spread outward in concentric waves.

A towering demoness with the body of a serpent, wings of a harpy, and the head of a human stood amidst the city. Hundreds of meters tall, like a living skyscraper, her supreme sovereign pressure swept across half of Cairo, alarming everyone.

With a single Banshee Wail, Euryale unleashed a storm of psychic power. Wherever it swept, human heads exploded like smashed watermelons, causing countless casualties.

Yet under the unblinking lock of her golden-pink vertical pupils, the black arrows that descended from nowhere only stalled for a few breaths before continuing their relentless fall.

At that moment, a chill ran through Euryale's heart. This was a bloodline-based lock. She had already exerted herself to the utmost, activating the Medusa petrification curse, yet she still could not stop this mysterious long-distance curse.

"Damn it!"

She shrieked unwilling to await death. The gray wings on her back beat violently, unleashing torrential air currents. A raging storm flattened buildings in its path as her massive body shot into the sky.

Buzz!

The Harpy Medusa was like a feathered serpent god, winding through Cairo's skies, streaking toward the outskirts of the city. A chaotic air corridor was carved open in her wake, her speed blurring into obscurity.

Whoosh! Whoosh! Whoosh!

But the Nail-Headed Seven Arrows were faster still. One pitch-black arrow after another ripped through the air, eerily silent as they pursued her.

With a squelch, the Harpy Medusa was struck again midair. A strand of black light pierced in from her back, plunging directly into her heart.

Euryale's face twisted in agony. In an instant, the curse within her body surged more than tenfold. The devastation and pain multiplied accordingly. Her enormous serpent-harpy form stiffened in the sky before plummeting straight down into the densely packed city below.

Boom!

A deafening crash followed as yet another district of Cairo was annihilated. Under the tremendous gravitational impact, the ground collapsed several meters deep.

The Harpy Medusa's muscles spasmed violently. Her massive serpentine body thrashed wildly through the city, lashing out in madness, attempting to ease the pain through destruction.

At last, the city's guardians reacted. Several leaders appeared, their expressions grim.

Among them, the Fifth Leader, Ethan, recognized the rampaging great demon at once.

He cursed aloud, "Damn it! It's the Harpy Medusa Euryale—the second daughter of the Mother of Medusas! If she needed something, she could've said so directly. Was it really necessary to wreak havoc in our territory like this?"

The senior officials were caught in an impossible dilemma. They dared not provoke a dying Monarch-level existence, yet with demonic devastation raging and massive losses mounting, failing to respond would leave them unable to face the public.

Woooo—wooo—wooo—

Cairo's city-wide alarm finally sounded. Large numbers of mages slowly rose into the air, trailing far behind the Great Monarch demon. They looked ready to attack, yet hesitated, advancing and retreating in uncertainty.

At this moment, Euryale could not care less about the surrounding commotion. As she watched another black arrow fall unhesitatingly from the firmament, fear surged in her heart, and she gritted her teeth as her massive body rapidly shrank.

With a loud bang, the enormous demonic body vanished from the city on the spot.

Amid the densely packed crowds evacuating from the city center, Euryale transformed into a human woman and concealed herself within them.

She casually seized a young white-collar worker beside her. Under his terrified gaze, her slender jade-like hand sharpened into a conical shape and tore open his abdomen, forcibly drilling herself inside his body.

Kacha, kacha—accompanied by a spine-chilling sound of flesh being gnawed and chewed, the young white-collar worker's body trembled slightly, and clarity returned to his eyes.

Euryale stared hatefully at the curse arrow that had come from nowhere in the void and murmured, "With the power of deception, this should be fine, right?"

The moment the words fell, her expression twisted violently. A streak of black flowing light did not deviate in the slightest, pointing straight at her, striking her arm with lightning speed.

"Ah! Damn it—who exactly is it?!"

The Winged Medusa let out a painful howl. Her soul throbbed with agony, her arm turning numb and powerless as a wave of weakness surged through her.

Immediately after, enduring the pain, she clenched her teeth and shook violently, tearing open the outer layer of concealment. She transformed into a towering, heaven-reaching two-winged giant serpent. With a powerful flap of her wings, she shot into the air and sped rapidly toward the outskirts of Cairo.

Euryale did not choose to flee southward, but instead flew north toward the Mediterranean, where one of her lairs was located.

Buzz buzz buzz! The remaining four arrows showed no sign of stopping, closely pursuing the Winged Medusa without relent.

After only a few breaths, she repeatedly used curse demon arts to try to wear down the Seven Arrows, but the effect was negligible, as if they existed in another dimension entirely, immune to interference from reality.

This scene was witnessed by the cities along the way, leaving those in power utterly shaken—just who could force the Winged Medusa into such a miserable state?

In the end, Euryale was still caught by the four arrows, which plunged straight into her body in one breath and nailed themselves onto her soul.

She crashed painfully into the wilderness. Her body gradually shrank, transforming into the form of a normal human. The aura she emitted weakened drastically, while black-red sacrificial patterns spread across her snow-white skin, bearing traces of demonic and skeletal power.

The soul and flesh of Euryale began to emit the stench of decay.
