Chapter 222 - Two New Companions

Zhu Zhuqing and Xiao Tian exchanged a glance. Neither spoke—but they understood the weight of what Mo Luochen was offering. Not just a pill. A transformation. A path that would forever separate them from the mediocrity of their peers.

Zhu Zhuqing took the Nirvana Pill first. She studied it for a moment—the pill glowed faintly with a golden hue, delicate heat pulsing from its surface. Then, without hesitation, she swallowed it.

Xiao Tian followed, his fingers tightening slightly as he mimicked her.

The moment the pills entered their bodies, the effect was instantaneous.

Zhu Zhuqing's body stiffened as waves of pure energy surged through her. Her Hell Civet Cat spirit roared from within, writhing with newfound life. Black light burst from her body, forming a silhouette of a majestic feline—not just a hell civet, but now something more: the Abyss Moon Panther. Sleeker. Faster. Stronger. Her spirit had evolved—no longer bound by her clan's bloodline limits.

She dropped to one knee, breathing heavily as dark-purple flames flickered around her form. The once-sharp coldness in her eyes now carried a predatory confidence.

"Congratulations," Mo Luochen said calmly. "From a civet to a panther. Now you're worthy of being called elite."

Beside her, Xiao Tian's body convulsed briefly before a cyclone of emerald wind erupted around him. His Green Storm Eagle let out a shriek—except now, its feathers shimmered like jade, and its wings spanned wider than before. Lightning arced subtly along its form.

The evolution was clear.

His martial spirit had become the Verdant Tempest Roc—a superior aerial beast known for unmatched flight speed and piercing wind-based attacks.

When the storm died down, Xiao Tian fell to one knee as well, gasping. "I… I can feel it. My spirit is alive. It's changed…"

Mo Luochen nodded approvingly. "You're not just riding talent anymore. You've stepped onto the road of power. Keep walking, and you'll see what true strength feels like."

Felicia leaned against the wall, arms crossed with a smirk. "Not bad, bird boy."

Qian Renxue, ever silent, simply observed—but even she gave a faint nod of approval.

Zhu Zhuqing rose slowly, her new spirit coiling around her like a dark shadow. She looked at Mo Luochen—not with doubt, but with quiet gratitude.

Zhu Zhuqing took a slow breath, her newly evolved Abyss Moon Panther spirit flickering behind her like a living shadow wreathed in dark-purple flames.

She looked up at Mo Luochen.

"My original two skills were simple," she began.

"First: Hell Rush."

"A burst of speed that let me appear behind an enemy almost instantly. Useful, but only for single targets."

"Second: Nether Claw."

"A claw attack infused with my spirit power, adding some shadow energy to slice deeper."

Her eyes narrowed, and she clenched her fists. Dark mist now coiled around her arms, licked by violet-black flames.

"But now, after this evolution…"

"First skill: Abyss Flicker."

"Not just speed. It turns me into a blur of shadow, letting me phase through attacks for a brief instant — and it leaves behind afterimages that confuse the enemy."

"Second skill: Infernal Moon Claw."

"My claws are now wreathed in abyssal flames. When I strike, it ignites spirit power directly, causing continuous burning pain inside the enemy's meridians — even spirit beasts would hesitate to heal that."

She said it almost casually, but there was a dark pride in her voice.

Then Xiao Tian stepped forward. The Verdant Tempest Roc behind him unfurled its majestic jade wings, stirring little streams of air that brushed past everyone.

He spoke with clear confidence.

"My spirit rings before were simple."

"First skill: Wind Blade."

"A ranged cutting wind attack that could slice through weaker defenses."

"Second skill: Soaring Talon."

"A dive that let me strike from above with enhanced speed and power, targeting a single point."

He clenched his fists, feeling the crackle of new energy in his veins. The Verdant Tempest Roc behind him now shimmered with faint arcs of lightning among its feathers.

"But after my spirit evolution with this pill…"

"First skill: Storm Cutter."

"An advanced Wind Blade. It now spins with a vortex edge that can chew through tougher defenses and shred anything nearby."

"Second skill: Thunder Talon."

"My Soaring Talon is now charged with lightning. When I dive, it doesn't just cut — it can paralyze on contact."

Xiao Tian's eyes glinted with hungry ambition.

"I won't stop here."

Mo Luochen nodded faintly, satisfied.

"Good. Remember what I said: keep pushing. The power you gain now is just the start."

Then he casually tossed a thin black scroll onto the table before them. Its surface pulsed with faint runes, almost alive.

"Now, take this," Luochen said. "It's a manual for a self-created technique that fuses elemental energy into your attacks. A neutral template — meaning you'll have to mold it with your own elements. Xiao Tian, it'll be easy for you. You've already developed your own style, and wind or lightning is second nature to you."

Xiao Tian picked up the scroll, eyes sparkling with excitement. He immediately began scanning through it, fingers tightening in anticipation.

Luochen then looked at Zhu Zhuqing.

"But for you, it might be trickier. You have dark attribute powers, and now abyssal flames as well. It will take deliberate effort to integrate them."

He glanced over at Felicia — known in this world simply as Xue — who stood quietly at his side.

"Zhuqing, if you get stuck, ask Xue. She's cultivated darkness before, along with annihilation flames. Her Divine Lion of Annihilation martial spirit makes her more than qualified to guide you."

Zhu Zhuqing hesitated, then nodded gratefully. "I understand."

Xue smirked faintly, arms folding under her chest. "Don't worry. If you want to learn how to merge your darkness and abyss flames into your strikes — I'll show you. Just be prepared. My way isn't gentle."

Zhu Zhuqing managed a faint smile at that. She stepped a bit closer to Xue, clearly ready to follow her lead once they began practice.

"Alright," Luochen said — then added with a faint smile, "Rest for today. Tomorrow, we continue on our journey."
