Chapter 218 - Son of Destiny

He turned.

Tang San screamed in pain, his back arching violently.

CRACK!

Eight blade-like legs burst from his spine, spiraling into the air. Bone-white, veined with black.

'Impossible…' Mo Luochen muttered.

Michael—he—had killed the original spider.

But fate had compensated.

Tang San had awakened the Eight Spider Lances anyway.

"Damn, son-of-destiny halo," Mo Luochen muttered. But then he smirked slightly. Wait… since none of these idiots know how to instantly fuse an External Spirit Bone, I can use this chance to take it from him, he thought, still smiling calmly as he waited.

Just then, Zhao Wuji approached him.

"What happened to him?" he asked, glancing toward Tang San, who was still absorbing the ring.

Mo Luochen raised an eyebrow. Aren't you a teacher? Shouldn't you know this already? he thought, but he simply replied, "It's an External Spirit Bone."

Everyone around turned to him in surprise. None of them had realized what it was—except Qian Renxue, whose eyes widened with envy as she stared at Tang San. Felicia, too, was stunned as she recognized the significance of it.

"External Spirit Bone? What are those?" Zhao Wuji asked again, stepping closer.

Mo Luochen explained calmly, "You know there are six standard spirit bone positions—arms, legs, torso, and skull. But aside from those, there are special ones—like wings, or in this case, spider legs."

"They're called External Spirit Bones. They're incredibly rare, even more so than normal spirit bones, and unlike typical bones, they evolve as the user's strength grows. Tang San's Eight Spider Lances, for example—this 1,700-year-old bone will continue to grow stronger, potentially reaching the 100,000-year level as he advances."

Zhao Wuji eyes widened but then he looked at others and said. "No one should speak of this bone to anyone," he said sternly.

Mo Luochen and the others simply nodded, their eyes tinged with envy as they looked at Tang San. Meanwhile, Michael (Mo Luochen's true identity) turned his gaze toward Xiao Wu. A faint smile touched his lips as he slowly stopped masking her aura.

He had been hiding her spirit aura from the moment they entered the Star Dou Forest. The reason was simple: to prevent the typical plotline from unfolding—where the Titan Giant Ape would sense Xiao Wu, take her away, and Tang San would chase after them, fight the Man-Faced Demon Spider midway, kill it, and absorb both its spirit ring and external bone.

But now that Tang San had already acquired the Eight Spider Lances, that path was no longer necessary.

So Michael lifted the veil.

He allowed Xiao Wu's aura to fully radiate through the forest. With that, the protective illusion was gone—and it wouldn't be long now. Her overprotective big brother, the Titan Giant Ape, would sense her presence and come barreling in. Just as planned. And once the Titan Ape took her, he would surely bring her to the Lake of Life… to meet the Azure Bull Python as well.

Tang San, of course, would chase after her. And this time, Michael would go with him.

He already had a plan.

Using the powers of his Chameleon King spirit bone, he would disguise himself in the chaos—and when the time was right, he'd snatch Tang San's unstable external spirit bone right from under him.

As expected, the moment Xiao Wu's aura spread across the Star Dou Forest, a deep tremor shook the ground.

The sky darkened slightly.

Then—a massive roar echoed through the trees.

A colossal figure tore through the forest.

The Titan Giant Ape had arrived.

Its golden eyes locked directly onto Xiao Wu direction. It stopped for a moment, lowering its enormous frame, and gave a soft grunt.

"Little sister…" it murmured, before reaching out its massive hand.

And behind it, the leaves parted once more, revealing a gigantic serpent with shimmering azure scales.

The Azure Bull Python.

"Bring her," the serpent said in a deep, ancient voice. "I would like to see my little sister again as well."

The Titan Giant Ape nodded solemnly, as he aimed at Xiao Wu.

Back with the others, panic was already setting in.

The Titan Giant Ape's aura had paralyzed half the group. Zhao Wuji shouted, "Everyone, run!"

But who could outrun a Titan Giant Ape?

In seconds, it reached Xiao Wu and took her into its palm, then retreated into the forest.

"XIAO WU!!" Tang San screamed, his Eight Spider Lances bursting from his back as he launched into the air. He swallowed one of Oscar's Flying Mushroom Sausages mid-flight and took off after her.

"No, Tang San, return!" Zhao Wuji yelled, seeing the boy vanish into the trees.

But Mo Luochen was already gone.

"I'll go with him," he called back calmly as he zoomed into the forest, aura vanishing into the mist.

Zhao Wuji froze, his instincts kicking in.

Flender said this one… this one is protected by ten Titled Douluo… he thought, his mouth dry. If he's going, then both Tang San and Xiao Wu will be safe.

He exhaled and turned back to the rest.

"Let's go. They'll return."

And with that, the rest of Shrek watched as destiny once again began to twist—just slightly—under Mo Luochen's hand.

Just as Mo Luochen darted deeper into the Star Dou Forest behind Tang San, his figure flickered—and vanished.

Not a trace remained.

But he hadn't stopped.

High above, hidden from sight, his aura was being masked by his Chameleon King spirit bone. Within moments, his appearance shifted. His hair lengthened, his robes darkened, and in his hand appeared a blazing sword—its flames licking across a glowing silver blade. His entire presence became foreign, unfamiliar.

His Martial Spirit: a Flaming Sword.

He landed silently on the ground ahead of Tang San, cloaked in this illusion, smirking as he looked directly at his target.

Tang San skidded to a halt, startled. Blue Silver Grass flared out defensively.

"Who are you?!" Tang San demanded.

Mo Luochen—disguised—said nothing. His eyes scanned the Eight Spider Lances protruding from Tang San's back, the external spirit bone not yet fused completely. His lips curled into a cold, calculating smile.

"Ah… external spirit bones. Not fully fused yet. Perfect."

With a flicker of black aura concealed under the flames, he surged forward.

"You're too slow," he muttered—half to himself—as he slashed at Tang San.
