Chapter 78 - Chapter 78: Someone's Furiously Pulling the RV Door?

Late at night, Su Chen had already drifted off into a deep sleep—and was even having a sweet dream.

He dreamed that he was living with the senior he liked. They had been cohabiting for a long time and even had a dog that looked just like Er Bao.

Everything in the dream felt incredibly real, so much so that Su Chen genuinely believed he was living a life above the ordinary.

Knock knock knock!

"Huh? What's that sound?"

Su Chen faintly heard a knocking noise.

The sound was very faint, barely audible.

He hadn't been fully awakened by it—just drifting between sleep and wakefulness.

In the dream, he even pinched himself.

"Wow, that hurts! So this is all real?"

"Never thought I'd end up with my senior crush, even in my dreams!"

Although Su Chen was already quite outstanding himself, there were plenty of people better than him.

He'd long had a crush on a senior girl.

Every time the school held a New Year's performance or some kind of event, she would always go on stage and perform a dance. She had countless admirers—it was common knowledge throughout the school. After all, she was the campus belle of their high school.

Not only was she adored by the boys, but even more so by the girls.

Her personality was so charming—she never spoke ill of others.

Even though her family was quite wealthy, when she saw students who came from less fortunate backgrounds, she never mocked them. Instead, she often played with them and treated them as equals.

Who wouldn't like a girl like that?

Outstanding people are naturally drawn to each other.

Su Chen still felt a sense of pride in his heart. He had always been confident in his looks, especially at school.

He always felt like many people turned to look at him when he walked down the hallway.

""Being with my senior just feels right."

Knock knock knock!

The knocking grew louder, jolting Su Chen fully awake.

He immediately sat up in bed.

Something felt wrong.

Looking around, he realized he was alone in bed.

His surroundings were nothing like the dream.

There was no need to wonder if he'd moved or redecorated.

Because—dammit—he was still sleeping in his RV.

Which meant the dream was just that—a dream.

He hadn't married the senior, nor was he raising a dog that looked like Er Bao.

So much for his fantasy. Nothing left to say.

He wasn't someone who made the first move in relationships. It was always the girl who had to take the initiative.

Missing out on love seemed par for the course for someone like him.

Half-asleep, his hair a mess, Su Chen squinted his eyes.

He thought maybe he'd misheard, perhaps it was just a case of tinnitus, because everything outside was dead silent now.

Still exhausted, Su Chen laid back down.

But just as he got comfortable again, the knocking resumed.

'Was this it? Were the monsters finally making their appearance at night? Or could it be... actual people?'

He didn't want to deal with it and planned to go back to sleep.

Then he remembered—all his camping gear was still outside.

What if they were after that? All his hard work during the day would go to waste!

No way he was going to let that happen.

Not only had they disturbed his sleep, now he had to worry about theft.

He didn't show much fear, but it was clear he had a bit of a phobia about the dark.

Those monsters were tough to deal with. Even though he had weapons, their destructive power couldn't be underestimated.

Their strange appearances alone were enough to scare the crap out of him.

Especially that massive spider—that thing had scared him half to death.

If they turned out to be aggressive, his tent could easily get wrecked.

That would mean the entire day's effort would go down the drain.

"Wait, I've got a way to deal with this."

Su Chen immediately pulled out his drone. Might as well use it—it's not like it costs him anything.

The drone was stealth-equipped; no one could detect its presence, much less monsters.

It was a trusty piece of gear—after all, it had helped him secure over a dozen airdrops.

Truly the MVP among his loot.

He activated the drone.

It was already deep into the night—pitch black outside, and completely silent, as if everything had died.

Watching the big screen hooked up to the drone feed, Su Chen had initially braced himself for some terrifying monster. He even had his weapons at the ready.

But what showed up... were humans?

Two men stood in front of Su Chen's vehicle.

The one with glasses was sneakily peering into the RV.

The guy in the suit stood with his hands on his hips, a look of disdain in his eyes.

What were two grown men doing out here in the middle of the night?

Wait—more accurately, weren't they cannibals?

The skinny guy by the door was clearly the bait.

The cold, aloof one in the back was probably waiting for the right moment to strike.

Playing the waiting game—it reminded Su Chen of that kind of setup.

Only now, the roles were reversed—it was men instead of women. But the effect was the same.

Su Chen had already figured this out back in the first wave—cannibals pretending to be human, using kindness and sympathy to lure in victims.

The whole "I'm lost" or "Can I crash here for the night?" act was just bait. Their true goal was to kill you... and eat your brain.

It was an old trick—but Su Chen wasn't falling for it.

These guys would never reveal themselves at first. They'd pretend to be friendly, act pitiful, and wait for your compassion to kick in before making their move.

Su Chen tucked his dagger and pistol into his waistband, ready to go out and put on a little show.

"What's going on? Can I help you guys?"

The man with glasses was still knocking at the door, his legs trembling.

It was his first time knocking on someone else's RV like this, and he was clearly nervous.

He was hoping someone powerful lived in such a luxurious RV.

After all, he was a top student himself, and had a certain admiration for strength.

He loved those domineering CEO dramas the most.

Especially the kind where the rich, loyal tycoon is the dream guy—pure fantasy come true.

As soon as the door opened, a handsome face appeared before him.

Smooth, clean lines, and a slightly groggy expression that only added to his cold, aloof aura.

"H-Hello…"

He had so much he wanted to say, but for some reason, the moment he saw Su Chen, he choked up.

He just stood there in silence, staring.

Su Chen gave him a puzzled look.

"Are all cannibals this... effeminate? Trying to act all coy and nervous—what a lousy actor. Totally gave himself away."

What puzzled him more was the suited guy next to him—he looked like an insurance salesman. Shouldn't he be hiding somewhere?

Standing that close? Might as well hang a sign on your head that says "Suspicious."
