The Starfire Knights stared at the fog gate before them, from which the faint aura of the Undead Demon seemed to emanate. Instantly, a flurry of chatter broke out as each tried to show off in the area of their expertise.
"Weren't we just heading upward?"
"I distinctly remember the demon being all the way at the bottom?"
"So, what's with this fog gate now?"
Teleportation gate? Elevator? Tunnel? Various guesses flew from the mouths of the Starfire Knights, each sounding plausible yet slightly off.
"..."
We could just walk in and find out the answer immediately, why are we wasting time guessing here?
Todd felt he had become the designated wisecracker, unable to suppress his inner commentary about the Starfire Knights' antics, even after witnessing a knight's tragic death.
Perhaps this was what they called "commentary repression."
