From a few dynasties ago, hereditary titles began to be degraded through inheritance, and after a few generations, they disappeared. If anyone wanted to be ennobled, they would have to earn it through their own achievements.
There were instances of inheriting a nominal title in some dynasties. Initially, the numbers didn't seem concerning, but as they increased year by year, it ended up nourishing a group of idle parasites—not exactly an optimal solution.
