The arrival of Derrek's troops gave the rear units some room to breathe. However, this didn't last for long.

Derrek was starting to get exhausted as the battle continued. The troops he brought were also running out of stamina.
"Sir, we cannot hold them back anymore! We must retreat!" One of his subordinates shouted anxiously.
Hearing this, Derrek shook his head, his face unsightly. "Not yet!"
If they retreated now, Loras's troops would breach their formation.
If that happens, Giovanni's army would collapse.
"We must hold on until the barricade has been made!" He shouted to the troops.
Although they were exhausted, the rear troops accepted the command. They also knew that defeat would follow if they allowed the enemies to advance.
A bitter struggle followed.
