"Mr. Lance, I'm Tom from the senator's office, there's something I want to talk to you about."
Having already opened the car door, Lance turned around to look at him, "Of course."
"Mr. Lance... I'll call you Lance."
This wasn't a question, nor a request, it was an affirmative statement.
Regardless of whether Lance agreed or not, he planned to disregard those honorifics or titles.
"Lance, I've heard you have a lot of influence on the docks."
"And the labor service agency you run has many people working on the docks."
"People are more willing to listen to you, see if you can talk to them, let some of the workers return to work first, those under your control."
Lance kept a smile on his face throughout, "Is this your idea, or the senator's?"
He wanted to reach out and embrace Lance, but Lance blocked him.
This caused a look of embarrassment tinged with annoyance to emerge on Tom's face, but thinking of Senator Cleveland's attitude towards work, he could only display a smile.
