Many large companies have such small rooms next to their meeting rooms, often called a lounge or in some places a VIP room.
They can discuss rather private matters here during a break in the meeting.
Edward picked up the phone; the office number for the manager wasn't going through, he didn't know if it was because someone was on a call or some other reason.
Then he dialed his own office phone, which was situated on the docks.
