"Do you smoke?" Lance opened his cigarette case, which contained neatly arranged cigarettes and cigars.
Johnny's throat moved a bit, he really wanted one, but in the end, he shook his head, "No, Mr. Lance, I don't smoke."
"You can't even lie convincingly!" Lance said with a smile as he took out a cigarette and tossed it over, "As long as you don't make a mess with the ashes, I'm not that ruthless!"
He took one for himself and then showed Johnny how to use the desktop lighter.
Once both men had lit up, Lance asked, "I hear you've been in charge of sweeping up at the docks lately?"
Johnny nodded, "After my arm broke, I couldn't do my previous job, so they gave me something lighter to do."
Turning screws or banging around would put all sorts of pressure on the bones in his arm, which indeed wasn't appropriate for such work after a fracture.
Especially banging around, it could cause the wound to reopen, not conducive to the healing of the fracture.
