Anning got out of the car, walking slowly and unsteadily towards home.
The Jiang family lived in a very old neighborhood where the alleys were so many that taxis simply couldn't drive through.
So Anning had no choice but to get out and walk a distance back herself.
She hadn't gone far before she felt like someone was following her.
The corners of Anning's lips curled up, further confirming her belief that her tragedy had been deliberately orchestrated by someone.
Taking out her cellphone, Anning stood under a street lamp to make a call.
Soon, the call connected and Mr. Jiang's voice came through; Anning must have intentionally turned on the speakerphone. As Mr. Jiang was naturally loud-voiced, the sound emanating from the phone in the quiet alley was exceptionally loud and travelled quite a distance.
"Second child, what's up?"
