Hearing the system's familiar chime, Ash's heart felt a pang of sadness.
All this way, he had already grown used to the system being by his side, guiding him, supporting him.
Now, because of him, the system's Guardian Mode had activated—draining all its remaining energy.
"System, can you recover?"
Ash asked in his heart.
But no reply came. The system's voice was gone forever.
With a sigh, Lucario suddenly lunged forward, frantically checking Ash's condition.
It hadn't expected Ash to shove it aside like that. In truth, it should have been Lucario protecting Ash—but Ash had thrown himself into harm's way instead.
Fortunately, it seemed to be just superficial wounds.
With Ash's incredibly strong physique, the cuts and scrapes had already begun to scab over.
"Meow… mew, mew…"
Because the power within Mew had been reawakened, the hidden strength of the Tree of Beginning had also begun to stir once more.
The Tree itself was restoring its damaged parts, like the regenerative cells inside a human body.
"It's… healing…"
"Luca…"
Ash looked at Lucario, and Lucario looked back at him. The two shared a knowing nod.
Mewtwo approached Ash, using its psychic powers to carefully scan him, ensuring there were no deeper injuries. Only then did it finally breathe out in relief.
What had just happened had terrified even Mewtwo. For a moment, it thought it was going to lose Ash.
Now, with the Tree of Beginning recovering, Mew suddenly shot down from the air into Ash's arms.
"Mew! Mew mew…"
The little Pokémon mewed endlessly, full of gratitude.
Mew was thankful to both Ash and Lucario. If it hadn't been for them, the Tree of Beginning might have truly perished.
And that destruction wouldn't just have affected the Kanto region—the fate of many other regions, deeply connected to this place, would have been shaken as well.
"It's all right, Mew. From now on, if you ever feel like it, you can come find us. I'll visit you here too."
Ash reached out, gently rubbing Mew's soft little head. Mew purred happily, rubbing its fluffy fur against his cheek.
So soft. So warm.
Mewtwo's expression grew complicated as it looked at Mew.
Mew gazed back at Mewtwo.
Then, with a cheeky little grin, Mew darted off once again, vanishing beyond the Tree of Beginning.
"Come on, Mewtwo. Let's go home."
Ash patted Mewtwo, signaling him not to dwell on the past.
Mewtwo gave a firm nod.
"Ash, I want to visit Clear Cliff sometime…"
"..."
Serena… had finally come to terms with everything.
When she first realized Ash had so many girls who cared for him, her heart had been a storm of emotions.
After all, what girl doesn't secretly hope to be the only one in her beloved's heart?
But when she met that girl called Mairin in Kalos, her perspective shifted.
Life is short—why not give it a chance?
Mairin might not even realize she liked Alain. But her constant worry and care for him said it all.
She once said to Serena:
"I just want him and Chespie to be safe and happy. As long as they're okay, that's enough for me."
That one sentence struck deep within Serena's heart.
She finally understood.
At that time, Ash was preparing to confront the seven ancient divine beasts. No one knew if he would make it back alive.
In the face of life and death, what did jealousy matter?
Would she really want to live a lifetime never seeing Ash again?
No—that wasn't what she wanted.
Back in Pallet Town, Delia Ketchum and Professor Oak prayed fervently for Ash's safety.
By their side stood Misty, May, Anabel, Sabrina, Dawn, and Serena, each whispering their hopes with trembling voices. Gary, Max, Tracey, Brock, and Lucy too lingered in anxious silence.
From across the regions, powerful figures had rushed to Pallet.
Cynthia of Sinnoh, Elesa and Caitlin of Unova and Alain hurried there the moment they heard the news. And not only them—every Champion, every Elite Four member, every Gym Leader, and every Pokémon Professor from Kanto through Kalos assembled in Pallet Town, drawn by the same desperate concern for the boy who had saves their world.
From Kanto
came Champion Lance, the legendary Elite Four—Lorelei, Bruno, and Agatha—and the Gym Leaders: Lt. Surge, Erika, Koga, and Blaine. Alongside them stood the Six Frontier Brains of the Battle Frontier—Noland, Greta, Tucker, Lucy, Spenser, and Brandon—their presence a testament to Ash's victories and respect earned.
From Johto
arrived Professor Elm, the Elite Four—Will, Koga, Bruno, and Karen—and Gym Leaders Falkner, Bugsy, Whitney, Morty, Chuck, Jasmine, Pryce, and Clair.
From Hoenn
marched Professor Birch, Champion Wallace and Steven Stone, with the Elite Four—Sidney, Phoebe, Glacia, and Drake—and Gym Leaders Roxanne, Brawly, Wattson, Flannery, Norman, Winona, Tate & Liza, and Juan.
From Sinnoh
arrived Professor Rowan, the Elite Four—Aaron, Bertha, Flint, and Lucian—and Gym Leaders Roark, Gardenia, Maylene, Crasher Wake, Fantina, Byron, Candice, and Volkner.
From Unova
came Professor Juniper, Champion Alder and Iris, the Elite Four—Shauntal, Grimsley, and Marshal—and Gym Leaders Cilan, Chili, Cress, Lenora, Burgh, Clay, Skyla, Brycen, and Drayden.
And from Kalos
journeyed Professor Sycamore, Champion Diantha, the Elite Four—Malva, Siebold, Wikstrom, and Drasna—and Gym Leaders Viola, Grant, Korrina, Ramos, Clemont, Valerie, Olympia, and Wulfric.
The streets of Pallet overflowed. Crowds of admirers, Ash's countless fans, reporters, and media crews filled every corner, all waiting, all holding their breath.
And then, in a burst of radiant light, the air split apart.
Ash Ketchum and Mewtwo appeared at the heart of Pallet Town, their figures gleaming with unearthly brilliance.
At that instant, the world seemed to stop.
Tears of relief fell freely as Champions, Elites, Gym Leaders, Professors, friends, and fans alike surged forward.
What they saw was no longer just the boy from Pallet Town.
They beheld the Pokémon Master himself—Ash Ketchum—standing before them like a god returned to earth.
…
Ten Years Later…
"Slow down, you two little rascals! Pikachu, keep an eye on them!"
On a private island owned by Ash.
Here, the climate was perfect all year round—warm in the winter, cool in the summer.
On the sandy beach, a young boy and girl chased each other gleefully.
Behind them, Pikachu bounded along, sometimes watching the boy, sometimes the girl, making sure both were safe.
Their laughter filled the shore, carried by the sea breeze.
Farther back, under two tall coconut trees, stood a giant parasol with ten beach chairs underneath.
Lying comfortably on them were a young man and nine beautiful women—elegant, radiant, yet full of warmth.
"Careful, don't run too fast!"
"Thanks, Pikachu, for looking after them."
One orange-haired woman called out worriedly.
"That's all right, Misty. Pikachu's far more reliable than… certain someone."
Another, with long flaxen hair, slid off her sunglasses with a teasing smile.
"Honestly, I envy Misty and Serena. When will it finally be my turn to have a child too?"
"Fufu, that depends on whether someone has enough stamina. Isn't that right, Ash?"
At that, every woman's face flushed crimson.
Yes—these were Ash, Misty, May, Anabel, Sabrina, Dawn, Serena, Elesa, Cynthia, and Caitlin.
All dressed in swimsuits, fresh from a swim in the ocean.
Ash lounged back in his chair, sipping a cold drink with a grin.
"Well, you know, whether it happens or not isn't really up to me, haha."
Cynthia chuckled warmly, giving him a playful push.
"Of course I came today. How could I miss it? It's the kids' birthday. I canceled everything just to be here. Unlike you, Mister Pokémon Master, who just relaxes on his private island every day, eating and drinking to your heart's content."
Yes—Ash had long since become a legend.
Not just a Trainer's legend.
He was the legend of this era—the reigning Pokémon Master!
He had bought his own private island, where all his Pokémon lived freely.
He had even hired a special member of the Joy family—Gina, the girl with the mysterious Viridian power whom he once met back during the Indigo League.
Now fully grown, Gina resided on the island, tending daily to the health of Ash's Pokémon.
Soon, the two children came running back, giggling, with Pikachu by their side.
Ash scooped them both up, sitting them on his lap.
"Well then, you two. Today you turn six. Tell me—what do you want for your birthday?"
The boy and girl exchanged glances, clearly already in agreement.
"Daddy, you said your very first Pokémon was Pikachu, right?"
The boy raised his hand eagerly.
Ash looked at Pikachu beside him and nodded with a soft smile.
"That's right. Why?"
Memories danced in Ash's eyes.
"Then we want Pikachu too! We want to be just like you, Daddy!"
The two children shouted in unison, their faces glowing with pride.
Ash's heart warmed.
"Haha, I figured you'd say that. But starting with Pichu is better—raising them from the very beginning will teach you more. I don't see any problem with letting you start learning about Pokémon early."
The others all laughed, nodding in agreement.
The children's eyes sparkled as they nodded furiously, then raced off again, already imagining who would become the stronger Trainer someday.
Watching them go, Ash leaned back once more under the shade, letting out a quiet sigh.
And then—
His eyes widened.
A brilliance lit up in his gaze, as if he'd just witnessed the impossible.
Because in his mind, he heard a long-lost, dearly missed voice—
"Ding! [Congratulations, Host. System rebooting…]"
Ash shot to his feet in shock.
The nine women blinked at him in confusion.
Then, Ash broke into the biggest grin, shouting with joy:
"The world is so big—let's spend the rest of our lives exploring it together!"
