I watched the interaction between Benecio and Theo with a smile as he wrote him his first paycheck. Benecio was practically bouncing with excitement as he tightly held his filled tip jar to his chest, doing a lot better on his first night than I ever did in my years of waitering. Once people realized he was here, one by one more customers came and even an entire group of girls from surrounding universities.
They were a giggling trembling mess that even though I wasn't a waiter anymore I had to help out when the others looked completely overwhelmed.
"Thank you so much," he beamed as he held up his cheque and stared at it as if it was a pure miracle, "Earning your own money feels strangely good."
"You'll get used to it one day," Theo sighed but gave him a small smile.
"So, is this an everyday situation?" Benecio beamed, "I think your restaurant suits me quite well."
