Chapter 283 - The Battle of Dragons

Atlas Flame shook its massive head and rose to its feet. "Did I just… lose consciousness?!"

Natsu stomped up, fists on hips. "Su Yan! Didn't you say you'd handle him?!"

Su Yan offered a wry smile. "He's all yours—go finish the rest."

Natsu grinned and took off. "Fine by me!"

With Natsu's fire immunity, Makarov knew the young Dragon Slayer could handle Atlas Flame. He shouted to the others, "Spread out and aid the other guilds!"

Moments later, mages across Magnolia's streets released every ounce of their magic—only to watch spells bounce harmlessly off dragon scales.

"What's going on? Our attacks aren't scratching him!" cried a Blue Pegasus wizard.

Kagura's blade struck the red dragon's flank with a clang, but the steel could not pierce its hide. Even the Wizard Saint Darius muttered, "Can mortals truly slay dragons?"

High above, the stranger Rogue from the future laughed. "Yes—let them rage! Witness dragon fury!"

Sabertooth's captains Sting and Rogue unleashed Dragon Slayer magic, yet their breaths scoured the beast's scales without so much as a mark.

"Human magic is useless!" Sting growled.

"Still, we must protect our allies," Rogue replied grimly.

A rock dragon lumbered toward Blue Pegasus. Jenny – the guild's famed "Beauty Tactician" – unleashed a vial of her secret perfume. The dragon sniffed—and sneezed violently, stumbling back.

"Human scents… vile!" the dragon roared, though it was only a minor victory.

Suddenly, a bolt of golden lightning struck the rock dragon's crest. Chunks of stone shattered, and it howled in pain.

"Laxus!" Gajeel shouted. "Only Fairy Tail can wield such power!"

From the west gate, Laxus soared in a lightning-charged fist. "Stand down—I'll handle this."

At Serpent Scale's front, Leon and Jura fought valiantly. Jura's earth pillars formed a cage, and Leon's ice magic held the bars cold. Yet each collision by the dragon shook the earth and splintered the prison stone.

"Nice effort," the dragon mocked, "but futile."

A stray pillar struck the beast's snout, sending it careening into a nearby house.

"Gajeel!" Leon called. "We need your strength!"

Gajeel, eyes burning with resolve, lunged at the dragon's chest. "No spell can compare to steel!"

Mermaid Heel and Quatro Cerberus united against a crimson wyrm. Kagura's knife flashed, but the dragon's wingbeat created a hurricane that sent them flying into walls.

Clambering to her feet, Kagura's eyes flared with determination—until a familiar silhouette appeared before her.

"Impossible…" she whispered.

In every corner of the city, Fairy Tail's allies and rivals alike faced down the tide of dragons—each battling with the strength only humans could summon. And at the heart of the storm, Su Yan and his companions prepared for the next clash against the unleashed wrath of dragonkind.
