"Brother! Mom! Auntie Lin! I'm back!"
That morning, Na'er appeared directly at the entrance of the Jing family's home, calling out in a sweet voice.
Her call immediately stirred excitement within the house, prompting everyone to rush out. Lin Xin and Jing Ziyuan embraced Na'er one after the other, while Jing Shaoyu watched the scene with a smile, not wanting to interrupt.
Na'er's return was undoubtedly a joyous occasion for their family, worthy of celebration. Jing Ziyuan had taken leave well in advance, ensuring she had ample time to spend with Na'er. She and Lin Xin led Na'er into the house.
Meanwhile, Jing Shaoyu glanced around, finding everything normal and nothing out of the ordinary. This puzzled him slightly, but he shook his head and followed them inside.
"Na'er, where's your teacher? Why didn't I see him?" Jing Shaoyu asked during a lull in the conversation between Na'er, Jing Ziyuan, and Lin Xin.
"I'm not sure," Na'er replied, shaking her head in confusion. "After he dropped me off at the door, he just disappeared. Maybe he went back to the academy."
"What a pity," Jing Ziyuan sighed. "I was hoping to host your teacher and show him some hospitality."
"It's alright, Mom," Jing Shaoyu said with a smile. "There will be other opportunities."
"Na'er, how long are you staying this time?" Lin Xin asked, holding Na'er's hand with a warm, affectionate smile.
"Of course, I'll stay until the holiday ends and return to the academy with my brother," Na'er replied with a giggle, resting her head on Lin Xin's shoulder, looking completely at ease.
"That's wonderful," both Jing Ziyuan and Lin Xin exclaimed with joy. They had been worried that Na'er might only stay for a day or two, which would have left them feeling deeply reluctant to let her go.
After chatting in the living room for a while, Jing Ziyuan and Lin Xin got busy preparing Na'er's favorite dishes. Meanwhile, Jing Shaoyu took Na'er to her room.
"It feels so nostalgic!" Na'er exclaimed, looking at her unchanged and spotless bedroom, her face filled with deep reminiscence.
"After you left, Mom and Auntie didn't touch your room. They often cleaned it and would sit by the bed, looking at your belongings and missing you," Jing Shaoyu said softly as he stood beside her.
"Yes, I can feel it," Na'er replied, her face showing a hint of sadness.
Na'er walked into the bedroom, her eyes lingering on every corner. Then she turned around, her smile charming and playful. "I still remember when we first moved here, I insisted on sleeping with you, but Mom ended up carrying me away. It was so funny!"
"Ha, you were quite mischievous back then," Jing Shaoyu said with a doting smile.
"Then, brother, can I sleep with you tonight?" Na'er asked, taking a few quick steps forward, pressing her body close to Jing Shaoyu's. She tilted her head up, her naturally enchanting face exuding a captivating charm, her breath warm and her eyes alluring.
Jing Shaoyu's body responded instantly, and he immediately followed his heart, saying, "Of course, you can!"
"Then it's settled!" Na'er was overjoyed upon hearing Jing Shaoyu's reply. She immediately turned around, bypassed Jing Shaoyu, and ran out of the room, saying, "I'll go check out my brother's room first."
Jing Shaoyu chuckled softly and shook his head, following Na'er to his bedroom.
As soon as Na'er entered Jing Shaoyu's bedroom, she eagerly threw herself onto his bed. Then, Jing Shaoyu noticed Na'er's expression shift from excitement to astonishment, and then from astonishment to anger. She sprang up from the bed in an instant, rushed to Jing Shaoyu's side, and said with great dissatisfaction, "Why? Why does my brother's bed smell like Xu Xiaoyan? Did she sleep in my brother's bed?"
"Uh—" Jing Shaoyu's expression froze as he suddenly remembered that Xu Xiaoyan had come to see him the day before yesterday and had crawled into his bed to rest.
He explained somewhat helplessly, "Xiaoyan came over the day before yesterday and lay on my bed for a while. She didn't do anything else."
"Hmph!" Na'er, still unhappy upon hearing Jing Shaoyu's words, let out a delicate snort and said, "I don't care, I don't care! My brother's bed now smells entirely of Xu Xiaoyan. It doesn't smell good at all!"
"If Xiaoyan hears you say that about her, she'll be very upset," Jing Shaoyu couldn't help but hold his forehead as he spoke. Should he say that Xu Xiaoyan's natural scent was too strong, or that Na'er's sense of smell was too sharp?
"Who cares about her!" Na'er snorted lightly in a spoiled manner and said, "Tonight, brother, you'll sleep in my room first!"
As she spoke, Na'er had already flipped over Jing Shaoyu's bedding, grabbed his quilt and sheets, and walked out.
"Na'er, what are you doing?" Jing Shaoyu was a bit dazed and instinctively asked.
"Air out the bedding!" Na'er declared righteously, but she had already gone downstairs and was heading to the courtyard.
"Huh? Na'er, why are you carrying your brother's quilt out?" Lin Xin's voice came from the courtyard as she asked.
"Oh, because my brother's quilt smells like a vixen. I'm taking it out to air it," Na'er explained with a straight face.
"A vixen?" Lin Xin's brain momentarily short-circuited, her face full of confusion, while Jing Ziyuan, standing beside her, showed a thoughtful expression. If she remembered correctly, that girl Xiaoyan had come over the day before yesterday, hadn't she?
Upstairs in the room, Jing Shaoyu was utterly helpless, holding his forehead and sighing repeatedly. It seemed that Na'er had been somewhat restrained while at the academy, but now that she was home, her true nature was unleashed. She was still that jealous little vinegar jar!
At the academy, Gu Yue had captured most of Na'er's attention. Now that Gu Yue wasn't around, her attention naturally fell on Xu Xiaoyan, didn't it?
Na'er quickly came back up from the courtyard, pulling Jing Shaoyu away from his bedroom and into hers.
"By the way, Na'er, after half a month of seclusion, you should have reached the Soul Grandmaster level by now, right?" Jing Shaoyu attempted to change the subject.
Upon hearing this, Na'er's pretty face immediately lit up with a radiant smile. "Of course! I'm now a level 42 Soul Grandmaster, and not just that."
As she spoke, a proud smile appeared on Na'er's face. She stood tall, and the Silver Dragon Lance instantly appeared in her hand, accompanied by four Soul Rings emitting a deep, black light.
"Great!" Jing Shaoyu was somewhat surprised but mostly delighted. He exclaimed with joy, "Na'er, you're not even fourteen yet, and you already possess such strength. That's amazing! Truly worthy of being my sister!"
"Giggle, of course!" Na'er burst into a silver-bell-like laughter upon hearing Jing Shaoyu's praise.
On the fifth day of Na'er's return, Jing Shaoyu took her back to Aolai City.
They first visited the now completely abandoned Aolai City Orphanage, and then drove to the beach where Jing Shaoyu had found Na'er.
"Brother, let's go play on the sea," Na'er suggested impulsively as they walked on the soft sand, gazing at the azure sea. She hugged Jing Shaoyu's arm.
"Sure," Jing Shaoyu agreed with a smile. "I remember there's a dock over there where we can rent a yacht. How about we rent a two-person boat?"
"Yes, yes!" Na'er immediately clapped her hands in excitement.
The siblings were quick to act, and in no time, they were speeding across the sea on the rented yacht, indulging in the thrill.
Before they knew it, they had ventured far from the coastline and entered the Douluo offshore area. The environment of the Douluo Sea was undoubtedly much better than that of the land. As Jing Shaoyu steered the yacht across the water, the light blue sky above and the deep blue sea around them filled the air with moist sea breeze and pure energy, broadening his mind and exciting his Origin Elf Soul.
"Brother, there's a small island over there. Should we go check it out?" Na'er tightly hugged Jing Shaoyu's waist, her head resting against his, her eyes sparkling as she scanned the seascape. She pointed to a small island about a kilometer ahead to their left.
"Alright!" Jing Shaoyu agreed, gently adjusting the yacht's direction, swiftly bringing them closer to the island.
As they approached, the island's full appearance became clearer. It was a round island, about twenty to thirty meters in diameter, with high vegetation coverage. Except for a strip of sandy beach around the shore, the entire island was mostly covered in forest.
"This seems to be an unnamed island," Jing Shaoyu remarked, looking at the map on the yacht.
There were many such islands in the East Sea region, most of them small in area. The Federation included them in its territory but did not interfere with their development. Thus, some islands, like the one they were seeing, remained unnamed and uninhabited.
"Is that so?" Na'er tilted her head, showing a slightly confused yet adorable expression.
"Yes," Jing Shaoyu nodded. "According to the yacht's map, this island was discovered and incorporated into the Federation's territory five hundred years ago. Due to its small size and lack of valuable resources, it didn't attract any investment from the Federation. The island's plant species are also limited, mostly common plants from the eastern part of the continent."
"I see," Na'er nodded.
As they spoke, they had already reached the vicinity of the island. After mooring the yacht, they stepped onto the island.
After boarding the island, Jing Shaoyu and Na'er quickly realized that the island was indeed very small, its area even smaller than some classrooms at Shrek Academy. Its altitude was also low, with the highest point being a cliff on the western side, only about forty to fifty meters high.
"Let's take a walk around the island," Jing Shaoyu suggested. "Maybe we'll find some long-aged medicinal herbs here."
"Sure," Na'er replied indifferently. She just wanted to stay with Jing Shaoyu; what they did didn't really matter to her.
So, the siblings began to wander around the small island. However, as soon as they entered the dense forest on the island, they encountered an unexpected situation. An arrow, carrying a sinister and toxic aura, shot through the thick foliage, heading straight towards them.
"Watch out!" Na'er reacted swiftly. She raised her hand, and with a flash of silver light, her spear intercepted and broke the incoming arrow.
Before Jing Shaoyu and Na'er could comprehend what was happening, a group of people dressed in gray robes, exuding a dark and malevolent aura, emerged from the forest and surrounded them.
"Evil Soul Masters!" both Jing Shaoyu and Na'er exclaimed simultaneously, immediately preparing to defend themselves.
"Kill them!" commanded one of the Evil Soul Masters, who had an additional black stripe on his gray robe. His tone was devoid of any emotion, as if he was merely discussing a trivial matter.
"Na'er, stay close to me!" Jing Shaoyu shouted softly. His Origin Elf Soul manifested, and the Crown of Nature glowed brightly. Three plant-type Soul Beasts immediately appeared in front of him and Na'er, forming a protective barrier around them.
Caught off guard, Jing Shaoyu had no time to think and held nothing back. He unleashed his current strongest combat power—the three plant-type Soul Beasts—while simultaneously trying to assess the situation.
He didn't ponder why there were Evil Soul Masters on the island because the situation didn't allow it. The group surrounding him and Na'er consisted of over twenty Evil Soul Masters. At the leader's command, they all released their Martial Souls and Soul Rings, charging towards the two.
Among them were four Soul Kings, while the rest were Soul Grandmasters and Soul Venerables. This slightly relieved Jing Shaoyu; at least these Evil Soul Masters weren't overwhelmingly strong, and there was still a chance to fight. However, he couldn't shake off a lingering worry. The black-striped gray-robed man hadn't released his Martial Soul, and his strength was the most unpredictable. He could very well be a Soul Saint, or even a Soul Douluo!
These thoughts flashed through Jing Shaoyu's mind in an instant, and the battle had already begun.
The ten-thousand-year Obsidian Sword Hemp, combined with the five-thousand-year Demon Flower and the Azure Moon Willow, were formidable opponents. The first wave of attacks from the twenty-plus Evil Soul Masters not only failed to achieve any results but also resulted in three of them being pierced by the Obsidian Sword Hemp and one being devoured by the Demon Flower.
Standing on the branches of the Azure Moon Willow, Jing Shaoyu and Na'er watched this scene with relaxed expressions. They exchanged a glance and immediately joined the battle. Meanwhile, the black-striped gray-robed man's expression turned grim. He hadn't expected that the two kids who suddenly appeared at their base were no ordinary individuals. Could it be that their location had been exposed?
The black-striped gray-robed man grew anxious. They couldn't stay here; they needed to relocate immediately!
He made his decision, his eyes filled with a crimson glow as he looked at Jing Shaoyu and Na'er. He was prepared to take action himself. If he didn't act soon, the subordinates he had painstakingly cultivated and gathered would be wiped out! The sudden appearance of the three plant Soul Beasts was not a concern; all he needed to do was eliminate those two brats!
Without hesitation, the black-patterned, gray-robed man charged into the battlefield. His gray robe exploded, revealing his grotesque and terrifying true form, along with seven black Soul Rings—a Soul Saint!
"So, he really is a Soul Saint!" Jing Shaoyu noticed the ugly old man who had just made his move, his expression turning serious. Seeing the seven black Soul Rings on the old man, he wasn't the least bit surprised. After all, this was an Evil Soul Master, and it was only natural for them to have some unconventional methods to enhance the quality of their Soul Rings.
The old man's body was covered in black, slimy fish scales, and a nauseating stench filled the air with his every movement. With a sudden thrust of his hand, a pitch-black finger imprint shot out, slamming into the Demon Flower that was in the midst of devouring an Evil Soul Master.
Instantly, the Demon Flower was enveloped in a cloud of gray-green poisonous mist. Shortly after, Jing Shaoyu lost his sense of the Demon Flower. His expression changed slightly, realizing that this was due to the Demon Flower nearing death and fading away!
This old man's Martial Soul was highly toxic! Jing Shaoyu understood this clearly in his heart.
"Hahaha!" The old man laughed heartily, extremely proud of his ability to annihilate a Soul Beast with a single finger. "My Heavenly Poison Finger has grown even more powerful!"
Han Dahai—that was the old man's name, and the Heavenly Poison Finger was clearly the Soul Skill he had just used to instantly kill the Demon Flower.
"Na'er, come to my side!" Jing Shaoyu shouted to Na'er as he wielded the Doomsday Godslaying Spear, repelling an Evil Soul Master who was a Soul King.
"Mm!" Na'er immediately retreated to his side, standing shoulder to shoulder with him, pressing close to the Obsidian Sword Hemp.
