"This will be the day of my revenge!"
A voice filled with hatred sent chills down everyone's spines. Some players had discovered some hints before, but now it turned out to be the truth. The order faction was actually aided by a devil! If it wasn't for an external threat like the void this would have been unthinkable. But now it happened.
"No matter the treatment, you are still part of Hell! Didn't you agree to imprison the three high devils back then? Why are you stabbing us in the back now?!", shouted the white demon angrily.
"Haha, even you dare to question me? I don't have to explain myself to you!"
"Hmpf. Stubborn! But you won't be able to change the situation with your meagre strength!"
The players were quite shocked by the white demon's words. Not even Golden Tiger, one of the 72 adjutants, would disrespect a genuine devil this much. Was Basnimn too weak or was the white devil so strong that he was even confident in confronting a devil?
Actually, the players were puzzled about a certain point. Ever since the start of the event no devils made an appearance. The most likely explanation was that someone was holding them back. Did the order faction have such powerful figures? Balm involuntarily thought about the dragon claw her party once witnessed. There was also old man Meyhran. If it were them, they might indeed have the strength. And if the white demon was on their level…
As the players were speculating, they soon received an answer. A massive white sabre light suddenly cut through the darkness. Vision returned. Everyone stared at the scene with curiosity. They saw the white devil now with two jagged sabres in his hands facing off against a grotesque man. Basnimn looked quite disgusting with a fat body covered in pockmarks, his skin swaying with each move. He had red skin and two strangely large ears almost like a rabbit. There was a light smile on his thick lips, which gave him a rather harmless appearance. In his hands was an unadorned staff which he used to block the white demon's sabres.
"That demon can really contest with a devil."
"Tsk. Devils seem to be nothing much."
"Yeah, we really held them in too high regard."
While the players talked among themselves and marvelled at the white demon's strength, the latter was far from calm. With his strength he should usually be able to suppress Basnimn, this sorry excuse of a devil. But his strike had surprisingly been blocked. The devil has gotten stronger!
Basnimn sensed his opponent's thoughts and let out a snort. With a shake of his body two identical clones suddenly appeared next to him. The clones instantly rushed towards the ground, striking at the void chains, trying to sever them.
"Stop!"
The white demon shouted angrily. He tried to rush after the clones, but Basnimn's original body blocked his path. Instantly an intense fight unfolded. Sabre and staff met, and the ensuing shockwave caused the world to tremble. Even in the distance the players still took damage. They hastily escaped even further. Watching the fight, they were amazed to see that under the power of the two combatants cracks appeared in the sky as if the world itself found it difficult to bear.
Yet one's focus shouldn't be on the two battling in the sky, but on the clones below. They attacked the void chains with swift strikes, shattering them one by one. Less and less energy was sent to the giant high devils and the corruption couldn't advance. The devils even showed signs of being able to escape.
"We can't continue like this… initiate plan B!"
The white demon suddenly gave an order, his voice heavy. On the ground the dark mages seemed to hesitate for a moment before gritting their teeth and following the order. They moved their hands, forming various magic circles in the air which fell on the mountain-like bear corpse. With each additional circle the corpse seemed to shrink. Or rather it had its energy drained away.
Meanwhile the magic circle around it was growing brighter and brighter.
"Stop them!"
Golden Tiger's solemn command reached the order faction, but could it be so easy? Of course the chaos faction blocked their paths. Even Orion risked his life to block Golden Tiger with everything he got. Some players tried to advance but the residual power of the battle between the white demon and the devil caused them too much damage. Thus, they were forced to watch helplessly as the bear corpse withered away, providing energy for the magic circle below.
Suddenly the magic circle began to revolve. Extremely profound runes rose from it, rising to the air, drawing on the void energy in the surroundings. The runes formed a square formation and the void energy gathered between them. A pulse went through the formation. The void energy seemed to hit something invisible. A sound like breaking glass thundered in everyone's ears. In the air between the runes it was as if a door had been opened forcefully, revealing an endless darkness. Just looking at it caused an endlessly bleak emotion.
Yet surprisingly there was movement in the darkness. A creature appeared out of nowhere and set a foot through the door, pushing its gigantic body into Crunaboul. It looked similar to the void dwellers some players had seen before with four sharp legs and a spinning core connecting its lower and upper body. However, the eyes on its two faces shone with intelligence and there was a violet crown floating above its head. As it fully stepped through the door the creature revealed its horrifying figure rivalling the earlier celestial beast corpse in height.
"Hmpf. You called me so early?!"
It was unexpected that the void being could speak Crunaboul's language. Its mere voice caused everyone who heard it to flinch in pain.
Basnimn and the white demon stopped fighting momentarily. The latter bowed lightly and replied:
"Void King Op. We had no choice. There were some unexpected developments."
"Void king…", murmured Golden Tiger, his face turning solemn. Void kings were powerful beings of the void able to command regular void dwellers. They hadn't appeared since the first invasion of the void. Back then a single void king was able to cause enormous destruction to the world. And now the devils dared to collude with a void king? They were crazier than expected!
Void King Op didn't deign to answer the white demon. He looked down at everyone from high above, disdain evident in his eyes. As a void being he not only disdained the people but even the world itself. The entire reason of his existence was to destroy worlds like Crunaboul who audaciously expanded within the void. Now that he was here the only outcome would be the thorough destruction of his entire surroundings. With neither devils nor gods present there was no one strong enough to stop him.
"You can all die now."
The void dweller raised one of his arms ending in sharp blades. Unbelievably thick void energy gathered around it. Everyone present felt suffocated, realising that death was near. However, the void king suddenly halted as he noticed something. Far away from him Lewriova unfurled a spell scroll, conjuring a massive golden portal. A giant foot stepped out, causing the world to tremble. When the rest of the body followed, the order faction players stared at the enormous golden giant in surprise.
"It's him!"
"That's the one who caused a commotion in the Western Ocean!"
"I heard that it was Hotpot who travelled with that giant!"
"It's not a giant, but a titan! They are way more formidable!"
Everyone stared at the newcomer with shock and hope. Since Lewriova brought him over at such a time the titan should be able to contest the void king, right?
"Zelgor! It's Zelgor! Haha, I was already wondering why he didn't show up. I almost thought we completed that quest in vain!"
Cyclone jumped in excitement, prompting Liam to shake his head with a smile. Naturally he had expected Zelgor to appear now. The titan wasn't interested in fighting the chaos faction. His anger mainly targeted the void. Only now that a void king appeared did Lewriova dare to summon the titan.
Zelgor didn't say a single word. Surrounded by a golden light he took a large step and instantly appeared in front of the void king.
"Watch out!"
Liam instantly alerted his friends as he threw his body to the ground. The others were shocked, following on instinct. And just at that moment the two giant beings clashed. A golden fist met a violet blade. The world wailed. An overwhelming sound drowned out all other noise. Space fractured. The void chains below trembled. Basnimn and the white demon fled hastily. Even the high devils trembled, affected by the aftermath.
Fortunately, the NPC armies reacted in time. They pooled all their strength together to create shields in front of their respective armies, barely making it through.
Noticing the immense destruction their fight could cause, Zelgor made his move. Golden light shone from his body. It engulfed the titan and the void king. When the light gradually receded, nothing remained of the two giants as they continued their fight elsewhere.
