Alejandro Torres looked at the screen in front of him as he sat in his quiet, somewhat messy room, with all the lights turned off, making it hard to see anything around him.
But for him, the screen was clear—perhaps only he could see it.
"It's been only about a week since I got the system, yet the stats already look impressive, I'd say," he mused to himself in the dark room.
And he was right. Just a week ago, he'd been hit by the infamous Truck-kun while walking down the road, just like in the usual novel tropes he'd read. But unlike those stories, after getting stuck, he didn't follow the usual route of ending up in another universe or anything like that. He stayed in his own world, with only one change: receiving a very lucky system.
A Football System that allowed him to grow through quests, tasks, and other systematic means—much like playing a game of FIFA.
But the question stayed with him the whole time: why did he even need the system?
He wasn't someone struggling or anything.
For a 14-year-old footballer playing at the youth academy of his hometown Spanish club, he was doing great.
That was proven by the fact that his dribbling stat—even before using the system—was already an impressive 80. He'd only added 5 more points since.
And those skills weren't given by the system either. He had already learned them by watching YouTube tutorials and studying Neymar, his idol.
But he didn't have any choice.
Because really, it was better to keep playing with the system than to have died in that accident, right?
"Alejandro, come down, dinner's ready," Carmen, Alejandro's mother, called from downstairs as it was already dinner time.
"Okay, Mum," Alejandro replied, closing the system screen. He stood up from his bed, walked over to the mirror, and lit up the room before standing in front of it.
A 1.72-meter-tall boy—quite tall for his age—with pale, very fair skin he inherited from his mother, brown eyes, and brown hair that was as messy as his room, with an athletic and fit build.
"You will become the greatest, with or without the system," he said to himself, looking into the mirror. Then he gave a wink to his own reflection, turned off the lights, and walked out of the room
