Chapter 85 - Chapter 80 – The Hundred Year Old Bastard

"Oh, you're an elemental weapons master class?" Margarette asked Sgt. Matthew Owen with interest.

"What's that?" asked Johan.

"That means he had finished all the classes under elemental weapons," Lilith explained. "2nd Lt. Margarette Gunnar, likewise, is a Sword Master, Rapier Class." Margarette seemed to beam at the mention of her name.

"Great! Let's go!" said Dorin who was beginning to lose patience.

"Wait, aren't you going to bring any weapons?!" Sgt. Matthew Owen asked him.

"I got my sword," answered Margarette, touching the rapier on her left hip.

"I've got my rifle," said Lilith, tapping the sling bag on her shoulder.

"I've got my fi–" Johan tried to show off his element but the fire died away. "I've got my..." it was again extinguished. "Dorin, stop stealing my wind!" Johan shouted at the wind mage.

"Don't forget your seal, okay?" Dorin mumbled beside him.

"What seal?!" Johan replied, irritated.

"The 'seal'," Dorin repeated again.

"Oh..." Johan finally remembered. "That's right. I don't have my fire! That bitch never gave me the counter spell!"

"Oh, gimme a break..." Sgt. Owen grumbled.

"You guys are wasting time! We need to go!" said Margarette, looking around the area. There were hardly any more students left. "Put on your tokens and let's go!"

"Wait just a bit," said Dorin.

He blew on his right hand and started saying words of power. Matthew stepped back as a golden pentagon appeared around their waist and duplicated itself, one going up to their heads, the other going down to their feet.

"Woah... what are you doing?" asked Lilith.

"How... how can you do that?!" Sgt. Owen said with astonishment. "You can manifest arcane symbols in thin air?!?"

"Stay still." Dorin said, ignoring him. He continued mumbling, then pointed at each of his companions before ending with himself. He then clenched his right fist. Golden light escaped from his hand and flashed towards their individual tokens.

"Okay, what did you do?" Margarette asked.

"Second skin and titan bond," Dorin answered.

He then gave a whistle. Sgt. Owen's eyes widened as an icicle formed in front of him, and gave a yelp as it suddenly rushed towards the token on his chest. It shattered as it hit its mark.

"You hurt?" Dorin asked the sergeant. Sgt. Owen looked dazed, but he dusted himself and shook his head.

"Right. Let's go."

"Hurry! There's a crop of trees over there! We can loose them there!"

Three students in military uniforms run for cover. One of them is being supported by the other two.

"I told you we would have been better off chasing after those SP students!" said the injured one.

"Too late for that now," snapped the other. "We don't even know where they disappeared to!"

As the three of them entered the woods, they took cover behind one of the tall oak trees and paused to catch their breath.

"Did we loose them?" asked the third member of their squad.

"I hope so–"

The branches of the oak tree suddenly reached down, pinning them to the trunk. The three try to squirm away, but as they raise their weapons to retaliate, three sharp thorns were fired towards their chests which immediately broke their tokens.

[Brown, Peters, Smith, OUT]

a mechanical voice chanted as the three students fell out of the tournament.

[Dennison 30 points]

A lithe image flitted from tree to tree in the canopy above.

Meanwhile, Johan and the rest did not disappear.

They were merely separated.

As soon as a long siren sounded, Several squads suddenly appeared around them and decided to attack the two SP students indiscriminately.

"Good, we didn't have to search!" said Dorin with a wide grin.

He stretched out his arms, his fingers flexed, and released a rain of razor sharp icicles towards the students trying to jump him. Seven tokens broke at once. The rest quickly jumped back.

"Dorin!" it was Johan, trying to fend off attacks with his fists, "Is that 'seal' still on?" he asked. "How bad do I need to suck?"

"I dunno, how bad were you while the seal was on?" answered Dorin as he dodged a fire attack from an elemental gun that tore down a small tree behind him.

"Pretty bad. I hate loosing though," grumbled Johan.

"Matt!" Dorin called the weapons master. "Do you have some elemental what ever that Johan can use?"

"Who's Matt?!?" snapped Sgt. Matthew Owen who was brandishing two elemental daggers, one of ice, the other of fire. "I only brought my special private personal collection with me, I don't give them away!"

"We'll give it back," said Dorin, then added, "Probably."

"I don't give elemental weapons to amateurs!"

"Any weapon would do!" Johan shouted at him, "C'mon or I swear I'll break your token myself!"

"Here!" Dorin suddenly grabbed Matt by the sack on his back and pulled it open.

"Hey! What are you...!" complained Matt.

Dorin's eyes widened as he saw the contents therein. "Woah, I had no idea your racksack was a dimensional pouch!" he whistled low, "this looks good." He pulled out a full length bastard sword and threw it to Johan who easily caught it.

"NO! Not my 'Hundred Year Old Bastard'!" cried Matthew, trying to get it back, but both were surprised with what happened next. For as soon as the fire mage touched the sword, the blade suddenly gave out a blinding blue light.

"Woah! How do I turn this thing off?!" shouted Johan. "I think it's melting!"

"Tone down! Think of the oven! The oven!" Dorin shouted back as he fended off more attackers.

The light dissipated, ending with a pale blue glow. The blade itself was made of molten blue flame, it danced upon its edge as if it were alive. The people around Johan stopped in their tracks, mesmerized by the flaming sword.

"I-It's a genuine magic sword!" gasped one of their attackers.

"It's just a light show!" shouted someone else.

"Get him!"

Johan was surrounded.

Dorin was about to send a gust of wind to help him, but his friend raised the bastard single handed over his head and sent it spiraling down around him. A wave of heat blasted the students in front of him, sending them back against his other attackers.

"Nice." Johan inspecting the bastard sword in his hands. "Don't you have a hammer, though?" he asked Matthew who still stood rooted where he stood, his jaw hanging from his mouth.

[Ignasius 160 points] said the mechanical voice.

"You better catch up Johan! I'm already at 240!" Dorin said happily.

"Just watch me!" replied the fire mage.

"Oh, look out!" Dorin gave a sharp whistle. Matthew was unceremoniously lifted as a sniper's bullet went past him.

"Dorin, air bullets!" called Johan.

Dorin made a quick survey around and gave a high pitch whistle. As he did, Johan clapped his hands. Another wave of heat emanated from his body, igniting thin strips of fire that aimed for the tokens of their opponents.

[Silvius 290 points] [Ignasius 210 points]

"Woah! It worked!" Johan said beaming.

The people around them where all down now, only a few remain, and they were currently running away.

"Hey Matt, you okay up there?" Dorin called.

[Owen 80 points]

"Fine." replied Matt who is currently holding a long rifle, 8 meters up in an oak tree. "Just leave me alone."

[Owen 90 points]

"Hey, where did the women go?" asked Johan.

"Oops..." Dorin looked around. "But don't worry, women can take care of themselves!"

"I say we better look for them before we loose 60 points!" said Johan with a sigh.
