Chapter 168 - Chapter 168: Congratulations, My Lord, Your Wish Has Been Fulfilled

Su Li slept very deeply. It wasn't until the first ray of dawn peeked in that her eyelashes fluttered.

Since her rebirth, she had never slept so soundly.

"Awake?"

Su Li startled, turning her head to find a magnified handsome face close to hers. His eyes were a little bloodshot.

"Why are you still here? Didn't you go back?" Su Li saw that both of them were fully dressed, albeit with some creases, and breathed a sigh of relief.

"Li'er, you're truly heartless. Last night you clung to my clothes, not letting me leave, and this morning you've turned cold and heartless." His voice was filled with accusation, his expression wronged. He looked exactly like a devoted woman abandoned by a heartless man.

Su Li's face flushed slightly, and she said, "Don't talk nonsense. How could I… how could I…" As she spoke, her voice trailed off, lacking conviction. She knew she wasn't a quiet sleeper and often woke up to find her blanket completely off.

Suddenly, something occurred to her, and she asked nervously, "I didn't say anything strange, did I?"

Jun Mo gave her a profound look, and Su Li's heart skipped a beat. Could it be…

"Li'er said last night that she would take responsibility for me. You can't go back on your word."

Su Li was amused by him and gently hit him with a pillow. "Get up quickly. If Siqin and the others see you, you can forget about ever entering my room at night again."

"As you command, my wife." He finished, then snuck a kiss on Su Li's cheek before quickly getting up.

Su Li chided with a laugh, "Who's your wife! Now, quickly, off you go!"

Jun Mo said, "I'll go back, wash up, and then come to deliver the New Year's gifts. Li'er, wait for me." With that, he left.

Su Li touched her face, a smile playing on her lips.

Moyang had originally expected His Highness to leave in the middle of the night as usual. But unexpectedly, he waited until dawn!

"Congratulations, My Lord, your wish has been fulfilled!" Moyang said coolly with a straight face.

Jun Mo shot him a sidelong glance, saying, "Nonsense."

Moyang was taken aback. Could it be that the Princess Consort refused?

"My Lord, don't be disheartened. After the clouds clear, the moon will shine. Those closest to the water get the moon first. A long journey tests a horse's strength…"

"Stop!" Jun Mo interrupted him. "Don't flaunt your literary prowess. Go and investigate a strategist of Jun Hui's, named Zhao Huai'an. I want every detail."

Moyang paused, then cupped his hands and acknowledged the order. "Yes!"

He was about to withdraw when Jun Mo's voice drifted over. "This king has no rule against secret guards getting married, as long as you can protect your family."

Moyang's steps halted. Get married? A cute and pleasing face flashed across his mind.

"My Lord, I'll go do my work now." He said, then fled as if escaping.

"What time is it?! Still sleeping! Get up and start a fire to cook! Lazy bones, wretched jinx, freeloading in my house, and you expect me to serve you?"

Early in the morning, Mother Zhao pushed open the door and cursed loudly.

Rong Qing shielded her eyes from the bright light with her hand, slowly got up, and dressed. These days felt like she was back to when she first arrived at the Zhao family. The old woman and Zhao Yuyan cursed her, and Zhao Huai'an no longer stopped them. Only when it became truly unbearable would he say a word.

She knew why his attitude had changed. It was simply because she was now the Sixth Prince's person, and he felt stifled by it. Yet, he still hoped she might one day return to the Minister's Estate, so he hadn't taken things too far.

Rong Qing sneered, placing a hand on her lower abdomen. She wondered if the fertility drug she bought afterwards had worked. If only…

"Little wretch! Still not getting up…"

The curses from outside the door interrupted Rong Qing's thoughts.

Amidst Mother Zhao's yelling, Rong Qing slowly got up, washed up, and headed towards the kitchen. After preparing breakfast, she knocked on Zhao Huai'an's door.

"Come in."

"Young Master, breakfast is ready."

Looking at the freshly dressed Zhao Huai'an, a hint of dissatisfaction flashed in Rong Qing's eyes. The three Zhao family members all had new clothes, but she did not.

"I won't be eating. You all go ahead."

Rong Qing asked in surprise, "Are you going out, Young Master?"

"Yes, I'm going to the Sixth Prince's residence to deliver New Year's gifts," Zhao Huai'an said calmly.

Rong Qing desperately wanted to go with him, but she knew he wouldn't take her.

"Young Master, wait a moment."

She walked behind the desk, picked up a brush, and began writing on the Xuan paper. She quickly finished, looking at it with satisfaction, and handed it to Zhao Huai'an.

Zhao Huai'an looked at her with a mix of belief and doubt, asking, "What is this?" The handwriting on the paper didn't resemble her usual style; the strokes were powerful, almost as if written by a man.

Rong Qing smiled, "Young Master, give this paper to the Sixth Prince. I believe he will favor you even more."

Zhao Huai'an, half-believing, half-doubting, tucked the paper into his bosom and hurried out.

Rong Qing watched his retreating back, a malevolent look gradually appearing in her eyes. She had heard that a woman had appeared by the Sixth Prince's side, constantly visiting his residence, and that the Sixth Prince valued her highly.

But the Sixth Prince was hers, Rong Qing's! She had to make the Sixth Prince see her usefulness. Zhao Huai'an said the Sixth Prince wanted to go up against Su Li. Well then, she would help him! Su Li relied only on her family background. If the Su family fell, Su Li would be at the mercy of others!

Minister Su, thank you for teaching me to write stroke by stroke! I, Rong Qing, will make sure to repay you properly!
