Chapter 70 - 70-Suspision

A/N- Shout out seydeen for the powerstone!!

Since no one commented on what they wanted I'm just gonna skip the World heroes mission

---------------------------------------------

The next week was a blur. After that first encounter, things were far from family-friendly. During the day, Rumi and Carter would yell and scream at each other, trading insults and blows during spars, and taking out villains with extreme prejudice. At night, Rumi was the one usually yelling as they exchanged bodily fluids rather than insults.

At first, they didn't speak for two whole days, one not sure how to deal with the emotions he was feeling, the other somewhat mortified that she'd slept with a student, yeah, he was an 'adult' but was he really?!

This made things tense for a bit, but they sat down one day and talked. They decided to go with it. Rumi was hesitant at first, but when Carter showed her his true form and revealed several secrets, she quickly gave in. Now, they were more than enjoying their time together.

---------------------------------------

While eating lunch on patrol, Carter felt his phone buzz and checked to find an incoming call from Nezu.

"Hello! How is your work study proceeding? I hope you're enjoying yourself." Nezu said cheerfully. In truth, he had been delaying this call for a few days, combing through laws that would keep both his students out of prison for what they were doing. He didn't judge them, but wished they had waited a few years until they went at it, so he made sure to be prepared should the Hero Commission try to start anything.

"I'm doing fine. Mirko is a good teacher. Though she does tend to fight and scream a lot." Carter said as he threw his trash away and took off to the air. "Wonderful, now I don't mind what you two are up to, but please be a bit more discreet. I'd rather not have to deal with teachers AND students wondering why you two are so . . . close."

He smirked at that. Try as he might, Nezu couldn't hide his little plan from Carter. Little did he know that this plan was all in his head, since Nezu had a plan, just not this one.

"I know how to be careful. How's the rest of the class?" He said as he called out a mugger for Mirko to chase down. "They are doing well, Izuku, Shoto, and Katsumi are all growing fast under Endeavor's tutelage. This is far from a social call, however, if you could stop by U.A. today, I have something to ask you."

Carter didn't like the sound of that, but he agreed and finished his patrol with Mirko. "We're gonna move a bit further away tomorrow, we've scared away most of the crooks in the area." He nodded. Mirko tended not to have a set location; she just followed the crime wherever it went. He didn't stay long after dinner since he had a meeting with Nezu, so he teleported to his dorm, ready for anything.

----------------------------------

"My, you sure did get here quick!" Nezu said as Carter entered his office. Though he'd never told him about his new application of magic, he was sure that Nezu had at the minimum, a rough idea of what he could do; he was the smartest creature on the planet after all.

"Well, it sounded important, so I thought it best to hurry along," Carter said as Nezu smiled, setting his tea cup aside. "Well, now that you're here, we can get to it. Emery has expressed a desire to continue the hero course despite her newfound fear of you. Midnight sat and had a conversation with her, quite gruesome I must say. But she is doing much better now, though she refuses to sleep before checking in on all of the class, bar you, of course."

It didn't bother him at all; he was busy doing other things right now to worry about a measly human caught up in her nightmares. "I'll try to limit my use of the black dragon, she calmed down once I switched to Seawing scales the night of the party." Nezu nodded, then slid him a photo of a large white dragon with a swarm of red-robed figures around it, all bowed low.

"A contact of mine brought this to my attention. Recently, a group of red-robed figures has appeared in Japan, along with the various ice block villains. They managed to track them to one of their hideouts and took this photo of a large statue, great craftsmanship, I must say."

Nezu didn't ask the question, but it hung in the air. 'Are you the dragon they're worshiping?'He took the photo and looked more closely at it; other than a few details being off, it in fact was his Icewing form. Nezu seemed not to know that, however, since Carter had only shown his Seawing and Nightwing forms.

"They did a good job on the smaller details, but if they are fanatics, then we might have a problem." He said, handing the photo back as Nezu hummed. "The HPSC is worried that this group might build up a reputation just like the Meta Liberation Front did a few years ago, but this group seems to be more religious at first glance." Carter nodded.

First and foremost, the Children were a cult that worshiped the Scarlet King, the only thing wrong with that is that they regularly sacrificed entire towns to conjure up blessings or to receive divine intervention when faced with a problem, small things."I'll let Mirko know so we can keep an eye out on patrol. The last thing we need is for this to spiral into something dangerous." He said as Nezu watched him leave, not saying a word as he started making plans, just in case.
