Atop a mountain peak.
A man with spiky hair stood with arms crossed, eyes gleaming with excitement.
"Hah, Hashirama! This time, you'd better come with me and let loose on the battlefield!"
But instead of putting a damper on things like he usually did, Senju Hashirama clapped Uchiha Madara firmly on the shoulder.
"Madara, this time I'm not going to be standing against you. I'll fight by your side!"
Hearing that, Madara burst into hearty laughter.
"Hahahahaha! Hashirama, it's rare for you not to ruin my mood."
Unlike the old days—back when they swept through the Warring States Era and founded Konoha—this time, Uchiha Madara stood at the head of a grand army, with Senju Hashirama at his side. Thousands followed their lead, all awaiting their command.
It had been a long time since he'd felt this alive, this fired up.
And the enemy they were about to face… were none other than the gods of the cosmos themselves—the Ōtsutsuki clan.
"Follow me!"
With a grand flourish, Madara slung the war fan across his back and strode into the space-time portal ahead.
Behind him, a thousand shinobi moved in unison, tightly packed and ready for war.
...
Namikaze Minato stood with a warm smile on his face, radiating a sun-like warmth that uplifted everyone around him.
He turned back to address the soldiers behind him with a clear, commanding voice.
"Stick close to me once the battle starts. If you're in danger, activate the Flying Thunder God kunai. I'll be there in an instant."
"Yes, sir!"
The troops were buzzing with excitement. After all, they were about to go into battle under the command of the Yellow Flash, a legendary name known throughout the shinobi world.
With morale running high, Minato turned toward Uzumaki Kushina.
"Kushina, we're fighting side by side this time. I promise—I'll keep you safe."
Kushina let out a soft snort and playfully raised her fist.
"Don't underestimate me, Minato. I'm not necessarily weaker than you."
They exchanged a smile—one of understanding and shared memories.
It had been far too long since they'd fought together like this.
And though a great battle loomed ahead, for some strange reason, both Minato and Kushina felt… just a little bit giddy inside.
Gripping her hand tightly, Minato led his squad of a thousand shinobi through the space-time portal before them.
...
"Hey! Sasuke, don't drag me down out there! A war like this—I won't have time to babysit you!"
Uzumaki Naruto's face was full of anticipation. He punched his fists together, eyes gleaming.
Uchiha Sasuke scoffed, arms folded as he replied with cool arrogance.
"That's my line, idiot."
"I'll crush the Ōtsutsuki beneath my feet. They'll fall to pave the way for the future glory of the Uchiha."
"Then let's teach them a lesson—together."
"My thoughts exactly."
Their fists collided with a solid thud, and the two raced toward the portal ahead.
Born into an era of peace, they had never fought in a true war, despite their immense power.
Now, facing a battlefield of this scale, Naruto and Sasuke felt like their blood was on fire.
...
"Sigh… what a drag. Out of all ten squads, I think I'm probably the weakest captain."
At Nara Shikamaru's grumbling, Akimichi Chōji gave him a firm slap on the back.
"Come on, Shikamaru! Now's not the time to be lazy. We believe in your brains."
Inuzuka Kiba chimed in with a grin.
"Yeah, let's show the Ōtsutsuki what it means to get outsmarted! We've got this!"
"Exactly! Let our youth burn across the entire universe!" Lee shouted, his spirit ablaze.
Looking at the trust in the eyes of those behind him, Shikamaru finally straightened up, pushing aside his usual laziness.
Then, he shouted something he thought he'd never say in his life—
"For the Shinobi World! For the Divine Nation!"
"Kill!!!"
...
"Kakashi, this scene reminds me of the Third Great Ninja War."
Might Guy stood at his side, grinning widely.
"It's weird… I almost feel a bit nostalgic."
Kakashi's voice was quiet.
"Time changes everything. What you're remembering isn't the war—it's the people we left behind in it."
He looked up at the sky.
Obito... if you were here right now, I bet you'd be over the moon.
"Kakashi, what's wrong?"
Guy looked at him, puzzled.
Kakashi shook his head, his gaze sharpening. Without another word, he drew the short blade from his back and walked straight into the portal.
...
"Orochimaru, after slacking off for so long… are you sure you're up for this?"
Jiraiya asked with his usual swagger, a hint of smugness in his tone.
Orochimaru smirked coldly. "You don't have to worry about me. I know exactly what I'm capable of. But..."
"But what?"
Jiraiya blinked in confusion.
"I just don't get it," Orochimaru said slowly, "How someone like you—dead last of the class—dares to pretend he understands the world of geniuses."
"You…!"
Jiraiya nearly coughed up blood.
He'd never imagined he'd still get roasted like this at his age—and certainly not by the usually tight-lipped Orochimaru.
"Orochimaru! Stop hanging out with that brat Mirai. You've been picking up all his bad habits!"
"Mind your own business, idiot."
"You say something?! You bastard, just wait—I'm gonna teach you a lesson later!"
Still bickering, the two of them stepped through the portal.
...
Kisame Hoshigaki grinned, Samehada slung over his shoulder.
"Never thought I'd get to fight side by side with the boss."
"I figured you lost interest in this kind of thing long ago," he added.
Nagato's voice was cold and steady.
"The Divine Nation has already proven that endless retreat can never bring peace."
"It's because they've never known pain that the Ōtsutsuki keep pillaging."
"This time—I'll make sure they feel it. I'll make those so-called gods bleed!"
With that, he shot into the portal like a crimson comet.
Kisame scratched his head with a sigh.
"Still the same as ever. No sense of humor at all."
...
Ten full squads, each led by two high-ranking captains.
Ten thousand shinobi marched into battle, charging through space-time gates toward the heart of the Ōtsutsuki stronghold—murderous intent blazing like wildfire.
In mere moments, all their figures vanished into the rifts.
This day would be etched into history. Forever.
