James Smith quickly stepped up to Uncle John, stopped, and extended his hand, wanting to shake hands with him. Normally, Uncle John should have stopped to shake hands too.
But who knew that Uncle John didn't stop at all, he walked straight past him, completely ignoring him.
James Smith paused halfway through his hand gesture, unable to extend it further. He realized he misread the situation; Uncle John wasn't headed for him at all. This was truly awkward, but no matter how embarrassed he felt, he didn't dare say anything. Although his family had some influence, they were not on the same level as the Smith Family. Even if he had grievances, he couldn't express them at all. More so, he didn't position himself correctly; why would they bother coming over to shake hands with him?
Bitterly retracting his hand, James Smith slowly turned around, wondering whom Uncle John was greeting.
