"Savage Strike Style?" John raised an eyebrow at the name.
While it was definitely different from Single Strike and Rapid Strike styles, what exactly did "Savage Strike" mean?
However, John was more interested in the moves Urshifu had gained after evolving.
Single Strike Style Urshifu gets the exclusive move Wicked Blow, Rapid Strike Style gets Surging Strikes, but Savage Strike Style gets...
"Why are there three?!" John's eyes went wide.
The Dark-type Godslayer Strike, Water-type Thousand Flowing Forms, and Fighting-type Infinite Savage Form were all brand new moves that Kubfu had learned after evolving into Savage Strike Style Urshifu. John checked, all three were exclusive moves.
So Urshifu had really absorbed the martial arts knowledge from both the Dark Scroll and Water Scroll, then created its own Dark and Water-type signature techniques!
It seemed like this Fighting-type exclusive move called Infinite Savage Form was the real signature move of Savage Strike Style Urshifu. John also noticed that unlike the other styles, Savage Strike Urshifu hadn't gained a secondary type, it remained pure Fighting.
Mustard was still studying the Savage Strike Urshifu, walking around it carefully and looking amazed.
"Let's head to the backyard and have it test out these exclusive moves it developed during evolution. Then we can figure out exactly what style this is," Mustard suggested.
John had no objections.
So the two trainers and three Pokemon quickly moved to the empty backyard, where there was a wooden training dummy perfect for testing.
But Mustard volunteered his Rapid Strike Style Urshifu as the target instead.
He wanted his Urshifu to personally experience the new Urshifu's signature moves, so that if John ever left the island, there would be a teacher who could help train future students.
The two Urshifu took their positions and prepared to test the moves.
John glanced at the three exclusive moves. This was a rare opportunity, might as well test them all.
"Use Godslayer Strike first," John commanded.
ROAR!
The Savage Strike Urshifu was bursting with energy and immediately took a fighting stance.
Unlike Single Strike and Rapid Strike Urshifu, who make a huge show when using their signature moves, John was sure his Savage Strike Urshifu was preparing an attack, but there didn't seem to be any energy fluctuations around it, as if it hadn't moved at all.
However, as its opponent, the Rapid Strike Urshifu felt like it was facing impending doom.
With its years of honed aura sense and battle instincts, it could detect a trace of terrifying killing intent, like standing at the edge of a volcano and sensing it was about to erupt.
The Rapid Strike Urshifu raised both hands, activated Protect, and got into a defensive position.
The next moment, the Savage Strike Urshifu vanished completely and reappeared mid-air in front of its opponent. It delivered a Jump Kick that looked exactly like Blaziken's ultimate technique "Crimson Kick."
You could tell that this Godslayer Strike was definitely a move John's Urshifu had learned based on its own training experience, taking its master's signature move and making it its own.
With a thunderous "BOOM," it struck the Rapid Strike Urshifu's blocking arms.
THUD THUD THUD!
The Rapid Strike Urshifu immediately shot backward like a cannonball, crashed through the rock wall behind it, and disappeared, leaving only a perfectly Urshifu-shaped hole that made both John and Mustard stare in shock.
"The feel of that move is just like Wicked Blow!" Mustard observed.
"The type should be Dark, but it's not the explosive Dark-type burst like Wicked Blow Instead, the Dark-type energy was hidden, compressed, then concentrated into one devastating strike." Mustard's experienced eye could analyze a lot even from that brief attack.
John agreed, the description of Godslayer Strike's effect was exactly the same as Wicked Blow's "always lands critical hits"!
However, after analyzing the Savage Strike Urshifu's attack, Mustard looked a bit shaken and muttered quietly, "Why does it feel like this attack is even more devastating than Urshifu's Single Strike Style exclusif move?"
When the battered Rapid Strike Urshifu finally returned from the distance, John commanded his Savage Strike Urshifu to test the next exclusive move.
"Thousand Flowing Forms," John called out.
This time, there were finally some visible signs of the Savage Strike Urshifu's attack.
Dark clouds gathered over the backyard as if Rain Dance had been activated, and water rippled at everyone's feet like a constantly flowing spring.
"Uh... next move? There's another one?" Mustard looked confused.
It seemed this technique came from the Water Scroll.
"Don't worry, let's try the last move," John said reassuringly.
Mustard looked bewildered. "My Urshifu has read both scrolls too, why can't it understand them like this?"
"I think the style your Urshifu created should be called the 'Sure-Kill Style,'" Mustard suggested. "It's like a style that can kill in one hit even better than Single Strike Style."
John thought back to how Zeraora had previously demolished the Rapid Strike Urshifu in battle.
In the next second, when the Savage Strike Urshifu threw its punch, countless fists made of water appeared out of thin air, surrounding the Rapid Strike Urshifu and launching a 360-degree endless barrage from every blind spot!
The Savage Strike Urshifu stepped forward and slowly walked toward its opponent through the water. Every step on the water's surface was like stepping on everyone's heart.
The pressure was overwhelming.
When Savage Strike Urshifu walked up to the Rapid Strike Urshifu and slowly raised its fist, the opponent felt locked onto by countless attacks, its whole body going numb and blank.
After all, from a pure damage perspective, with the same energy input, Wicked Blow's energy release technique couldn't match the compression technique of Godslayer Strike, and Godslayer Strike was far more concealed.
"Wait, didn't Kubfu look at two scrolls before? So it didn't just learn one exclusive move..." Mustard trailed off, finally understanding.
Can you really learn exclusive moves just by reading scrolls?
