Chapter 175 - CHAPTER 174

KENAN SPENT A FULL DAY at the White House. The country was in turmoil over recent events. When the media were reestablished, starting with television, telephones, radio and ending with the Internet, a strong movement began in search of the truth.

In the newspapers, things were somewhat controlled, the editorial lines respected, to a certain extent, the version authorized by the government. The news reports reported how the country had suffered an intense biological terrorist attack, which had killed dozens of people during the Fifth Avenue event and, at the same time, a communications crisis had damaged the entire national system.

Confused by the facts, the people ended up adhering even more to the President's proposal, supporting the infamous program called "Siege of Terrorism". The news programs received thousands of calls and emails waking up to the Siege proposed by him. Movements were planned to favor and support Kenan 's position ; several marches would take place in the following days in his favor.

On the internet, however, things were touchy.

Numerous versions were discussed on social media and conspiracy blogs, photos and recordings were released — briefly, before being deleted — showing events that were very different from those reported in the newspapers. Many of the websites responsible for this ended up going offline after a few hours, but even so, conspiracy theories continued to emerge and proliferate everywhere. Bloggers and agitators said that the attack was not biological, but something extremely technological and advanced. With this, they questioned why the government would insist on hiding it. From this point on, discussions became heated on the internet, generating increasingly fanciful trends. Because it contained so many different and implausible ideas, the discussion on the internet ended up losing its credibility in relation to the very plausible story told on TV.

Controlling all this movement, as well as resolving security and infrastructure issues and still finishing the planning of his project with the United Nations were tedious tasks for the President, although he was achieving success in each of them.
