Chapter 24 - Twenty - Quiet Entry : Hacking The Base

Ān Tián Kuò (安田阔)

Let's break it down:

安 (Ān) — calm, peaceful, safe.

田 (Tián) — field, farmland, often symbolizes stability or productivity.

阔 (Kuò) — broad, vast, open-minded, expansive.

Meaning summary:

> "Vast field of peace" or metaphorically, "a calm soul with wide reach."

It fits perfectly for someone analytical, grounded, and wise—a stabilizer among chaotic forces

---

Ān Tián Kuò had been gone for a week.

Officially, that meant nothing. Confidential missions were routine. Silence was expected.

Violet stood a short distance from the temporary command setup, gaze unfocused, as if watching something that wasn't there. Sand drifted lazily around her boots. No tension. No impatience.

Qiū Huà Bǐ sat on the ground nearby, one knee up, a small device balanced casually in his palm. No heavy rig. No dramatic setup. Just a compact interface humming softly, like it belonged anywhere but here.

Ān Bái watched him with narrowed eyes.

"That's it?" he asked. "That's all you need?"

Qiū Huà Bǐ didn't look up. "If I need more, I'm doing it wrong."

___[Flashback]____

Violet looks past Yè Yī to Qiū Huà Bǐ, "Qiū Huà Bǐ, currently being watched and spammed by ET for reasons he doesn't know. They plan on recruiting him".

Qiū Huà Bǐ looked confused. 'Who recruits like that?'.

__'People who ransack other people ancestral homes'__.

Huà Bǐ couldn't be bothered anymore, he tried reading the minds of those in the room instead.

Ān Bái ·→ "'Those bastards.. As if the fact that they can't be completely eradicated due to the 'rules of order' isn't enough... Bombing the whole organization shouldn't be hard'"

Ān Shēn ·→ "'If ET are still recruiting rogue Specialists, then it might lead to a big problem sooner or later... But what are they recruiting them for?..... New members?.. Or test subjects?'"

Qiū Huà Bǐ gulps. He hoped not.

Ān Tián Qí ·→ '"Is this related to another one of ET's manical search? Or is this another plan altogether?'"

Mù Xiāo Xiāo ·→ '"I'm hungry'"

Qiū Huà Bǐ felt like smacking his own head. Why was she here?

Violet continues,"....Anyway, he's a hacker".

All eyes besides Mù Xiāo Xiāo turn to Qiū Huà Bǐ.

"And since you all feel bad about 'spy-watching'", Violet doesn't forget to hand gesture, " You wouldn't feel bad about granting a humble request, would you?". Violet half-smirks,that seemed to be a thing of hers, though her facial expression now had a tone of 'icy' to her already 'bold and balanced' side.

____Flashback ends____

Ān Shēn folded his arms. He'd expected tension—alerts, resistance, something. Instead, nothing happened at all.

No flicker.

No system lag.

No warning signs.

The ET base remained exactly as it had been before.

Which was the problem.

Qiū Huà Bǐ's fingers moved once. Twice. Then stopped.

"That's done," he said.

Ān Bái blinked. "Done what?"

Qiū Huà Bǐ finally glanced at him. "We're inside."

Ān Shēn turned sharply toward Violet. "Did you feel anything?"

She shook her head. "No."

That answer unsettled him more than a yes would have.

Qiū Huà Bǐ leaned back slightly, resting his weight on his hands. "Their system didn't even register curiosity. No flags, no shadows. From their perspective, tonight is boring... So was mine, I thought it'd be pumped up or something". He muttered the last two sentences to himself, but if only he was the only one who heard.

Ān Bái let out a slow breath. "That shouldn't be possible."

"It is," Qiū Huà Bǐ replied, unconcerned. "They just don't imagine someone like me."

Violet spoke then, voice flat and distant.

"Proceed to internal mapping. No shortcuts."

Qiū Huà Bǐ tilted his head. "You're sure?"

"Yes."

No explanation followed.

He shrugged and complied.

The interface shifted—not faster, not brighter. Just… cleaner. Doors quietly acknowledged permissions that were never requested. Cameras kept watching empty corridors, unaware they were being ignored.

ET noticed nothing.

Not because they were careless—

—but because someone had walked through their house without touching the walls.

Ān Shēn studied Qiū Huà Bǐ more closely now. "You've done this before."

Qiū Huà Bǐ smiled, small and unapologetic. "I don't like locked doors."

Qiū Huà Bǐ was curious though, he had unlocked a bit of the ET's database at the arcade, but this seemed deeper.

Ān Bái exchanged a glance with his brother. A thought had taken root.

"You ever consider working with a fixed unit?" Ān Bái asked carefully. "Resources. Protection. A place to land."

Qiū Huà Bǐ didn't answer immediately.

Violet did.

"He won't."

Both men looked at her.

"He doesn't stay," Violet continued. "He doesn't belong to systems. Or people."

Qiū Huà Bǐ glanced at her, surprised—but didn't contradict it.

Ān Shēn frowned. "You sound very certain."

"I am."

From that moment on, Violet changed.

She stopped explaining.

Stopped softening her words.

Stopped meeting anyone's eyes longer than necessary.

She moved like someone already three steps ahead—and unwilling to wait.

Qiū Huà Bǐ packed up his device and stood.

"Mapping's clean," he said. "If you guys need extraction later, I can make it invisible."

Violet nodded once. "You'll know when."

No if.

No maybe.

Violet makes her way out, Yè Yī and Qiū Huà Bǐ following close behind.

Ān Bái watched her walk away, a chill settling in his spine.

"Who is she exactly?" he murmured.

Ān Shēn answered quietly, "She knows things before they happen."

Behind them, the ET base continued operating peacefully.

Unaware it had already been touched.
