Lynn let out a deep sigh as she walked back to the room where everyone was waiting for her. Elena and Julia had worried looks on their faces. "How was it?" Elena was the first one to ask and Lynn tried to smile but her smile faltered. "It looked like she was worried about me." Lynn said and the entire room became silent before she finally sighed deeply again. "I should check up on alex" She said and turned away. Elena and Julia followed after, both of them too worried to say a word, while still thinking about what Lynn had said about been used as bait.
Lynn sat beside Alex's bed long after everyone else had stepped out. The room was quiet except for the steady beeping of the machines and the faint sound of air moving through the vents. It felt quiet, like the world had been put on pause while everything important was happening somewhere else.
