Liang Hospital
Liang Chen had just finished his morning rounds at the hospital. The halls were quiet now, the sound of nurses' footsteps fading as he stepped into his office. He let out a long breath, dropped onto his chair, and leaned back. His neck ached from hours of bending over patients' charts. He tilted his head to the left, then to the right, rubbing the tight muscles until the stiffness eased a little.
When he felt slightly better, he reached across his desk and picked up his phone. A habit. Every time he came back from rounds, he checked it — almost automatically. He opened WeChat, half-expecting to see a new message, even a simple "good morning."
But the screen was empty.
No new notifications.
No unread chats.
Just silence.
The last message from Huo Yi was two weeks ago — a short note saying he was busy with a school project and wouldn't be around campus for a few days. Since then, nothing.
Two whole weeks.
