Chapter 521: Yuan Gate's Assassins and the Journey
"Going to Flame City?"
Upon hearing Mu Lan's invitation, Lin Langtian momentarily froze before softly murmuring to himself.
Flame City was the stronghold of the Flame Divine Hall. If Lin Langtian recalled correctly, Mu Lan's purpose for heading there this time was at the invitation of Qing Zhi, due to a significant operation against the Yimo initiated by the Hall Master of the Flame Divine Hall.
At the same time, Tang Xinlian, who stood beside him, also showed a hint of surprise. "Senior Mu Lan, your destination this time is actually Flame City?"
As the direct disciple of Mo Luo, Tang Xinlian naturally knew Flame City like the back of her hand, given that it was practically her hometown.
But she hadn't expected that Mu Lan, an elder from the Immortal Sage Whale Clan, would have Flame City as his destination. Truly, fate had its own plans.
"Hehe, indeed. Looking at your expressions, it seems neither of you knows about the major event organized by the Flame Divine Hall—the Thunder Competition?" Mu Lan gently laughed.
Upon hearing these words, Lin Langtian's eyes immediately narrowed slightly.
Mu Lan continued, "The Thunder Competition is a grand martial gathering organized by the Flame Divine Hall. The news has already spread like wildfire throughout the Chaotic Demon Sea. It's said that the winner will obtain the Thunderbolt Ancestral Symbol."
"The Thunderbolt Ancestral Symbol?! So teacher really succeeded in acquiring it?" Tang Xinlian instantly revealed a joyful expression upon hearing this news.
Logically, Mo Luo himself should have personally handled the dangerous mission within the Devouring Realm since the situation was too dire for ordinary experts to manage. However, Mo Luo had been occupied with an even more critical task—finding and obtaining the Thunderbolt Ancestral Symbol.
Consequently, Mo Luo had entrusted Tang Xinlian with the critical mission of entering the Devouring Realm, giving her only a fraction of the Flame Ancestral Symbol's source power as aid.
Fortunately, with Lin Langtian's help, Tang Xinlian not only completed the task but also emerged alive.
Thus, upon hearing that Mo Luo had successfully obtained the Thunderbolt Ancestral Symbol, Tang Xinlian naturally felt ecstatic.
Lin Langtian, however, remained calm. His eyes flickered slightly as he doubted the authenticity of this news.
If his guess was correct, the so-called Thunderbolt Ancestral Symbol awarded as the prize in the Thunder Competition would likely just be a disguised source fragment of the symbol. The actual Thunderbolt Ancestral Symbol was probably already in Lin Dong's possession.
"If you're interested, young friend Langtian, you could join in the fun," Mu Lan added with a smile. "Apparently, the top ten young prodigies from the Chaotic Demon Sea Ranking have already set out for this competition. It promises to be an epic clash."
Tang Xinlian also looked expectantly at Lin Langtian. Flame City was her sect's territory, and she naturally hoped to spend more time with Lin Langtian if possible.
At this point, Mu Lingshan happily asked, "Brother Langtian, what's your plan?"
Mu Lingshan had already decided to follow Lin Langtian wherever he went, regardless of whether he chose to join Mu Lan or not.
Lin Langtian gently tugged on the girl's adorable braids and raised his gaze toward the southern horizon, quietly replying after a moment of contemplation, "In that case, I'll accompany Senior Mu Lan to Flame City."
Lin Langtian roughly knew of Mo Luo's scheme, and he predicted the Flame Sea Region would soon become the focal point of the entire Chaotic Demon Sea.
The allure of the Thunderbolt Ancestral Symbol would inevitably draw countless powerful individuals, not to mention those lurking Yimo hidden within this world.
And, of course, Lin Dong—who had fled in haste from the Eastern Xuan Region to the Chaotic Demon Sea with the Thunderbolt Ancestral Symbol—would certainly appear there as well.
Since it had been so long since their last meeting, Lin Langtian planned to take this opportunity to reunite with Lin Dong.
Therefore, such a grand event was something he definitely had to witness.
Moreover, with Elder Bei Jiao of the Deep Sea Mysterious Jiao Clan potentially lurking in the shadows, accompanying Mu Lan would also be safer for him.
…
Eastern Xuan Region, Yuan Gate.
The colossal sect was as magnificent as ever, shrouded in drifting clouds and mist. Numerous figures could be seen swiftly passing through the air, creating continuous whistling sounds.
Deep within Yuan Gate stood a grand hall filled with countless floating golden points of light. Each represented the spirit imprints of elite disciples, allowing the sect to monitor their well-being.
At the center of this great hall were three prominent clusters of golden lights radiating powerful auras, clearly belonging to formidable figures.
Several Yuan Gate disciples routinely patrolled the hall, carefully examining the spirit imprints. Suddenly, one disciple halted in confusion as he noticed tiny cracks appearing on the three golden clusters.
Boom!
Before the disciple could react, the three clusters exploded. A sinister, fear-filled shadow appeared momentarily—the final transmission of the Heaven Department leaders before their deaths.
The scene radiated despair, sending chills down the spines of every disciple present.
"Those were the spirit imprints of the three Heaven Department heads!"
"Quick! Inform the sect masters immediately!"
Instant chaos erupted as disciples stumbled out of the hall in panic.
Afterward, remaining disciples whispered anxiously among themselves, eyes filled with uncertainty and fear.
"Did you see that shadowy figure in the last imprint? Wasn't that Lin Langtian?"
"Lin Langtian, that traitor! How could he be in the Chaotic Demon Sea and even encounter our three Heaven Department heads?"
"Their deaths must have something to do with him! Dammit, he's like a ghost haunting us. Once Yuan Gate regains its strength, we'll exterminate him and his accursed Tianfu!"
In the deepest part of Yuan Gate, atop a mountain peak, the three masters sat quietly, their surroundings subtly distorted by overwhelming power.
"Lin Langtian appeared in the Chaotic Demon Sea?" Di Yuanzi spoke first, voice icy and filled with suspicion.
"Heaven Department was probably stopped by him while reviving Lord Yimo King," Ren Yuanzi coldly added. "Though Lin Langtian appeared, it seems our three heads ultimately died by the Yimo King's hands. Perhaps the Yimo King drained their powers."
"They were but pawns," Tian Yuanzi calmly replied. "However, their demon seeds getting exposed could cause us immense trouble. The human powerhouses have begun noticing the Yimo."
"What should we do?" Ren Yuanzi's eyes narrowed dangerously.
"Accelerate our plan," Tian Yuanzi softly commanded.
"Are we finally acting? The Eastern Xuan Region will soon become quite lively," Di Yuanzi laughed sinisterly.
"Indeed. The Eastern Xuan Region's balance has lasted far too long," Tian Yuanzi smiled coldly. "Especially with that newly risen Tianfu, housing two Samsara stage experts and the unpredictable Lin Langtian. They must be eradicated."
"What about Lin Langtian himself? He's dangerous," Ren Yuanzi asked.
"Liu Zhuang has already left for the Chaotic Demon Sea. Order him to eliminate Lin Langtian. Based on our intelligence, Lin Langtian can't use that mysterious power frequently. Liu Zhuang, a perfect Death Profound Realm expert carrying a demon seed, should easily eliminate him," Tian Yuanzi assured.
"Then Lin Langtian is as good as dead," Di Yuanzi sneered bitterly, recalling his defeat at Lin Langtian's hands.
"In the grand scheme of the Yimo Emperor, Lin Langtian is insignificant," Tian Yuanzi confidently declared, fully devoted to serving the Yimo.
…
Chaotic Demon Sea
Splashes echoed as the giant whale cut through waves beneath the night sky. Mu Lingshan and Tang Xinlian slept soundly, Liu Da's trio took shifts guarding, and at the whale's head, Lin Langtian conversed quietly with Mu Lan beneath shimmering stars.
"I've heard of your feats in the Eastern Xuan Region," Mu Lan commented admiringly. "Creating a powerful faction at your age and daring to challenge Yuan Gate—a sect with multiple Samsara experts—is truly courageous."
Lin Langtian modestly replied, "It was luck. Yuan Gate is powerful. A prolonged war would be tough for Tianfu."
"Yuan Gate… Many years ago, even a faction in the Chaotic Demon Sea fought them without gaining anything," Mu Lan's eyes darkened thoughtfully. "But something feels off about them."
Lin Langtian nodded silently. Clearly, powerful figures had noticed Yuan Gate's collusion with the Yimo, though they lacked solid evidence.
Mu Lan smiled knowingly, "You saw through them early; leaving Yuan Gate was wise. It seems you carry many secrets."
Lin Langtian merely smiled in response. Yuan Gate's growing recklessness would soon reveal their true colors, plunging the Eastern Xuan Region into chaos.
And chaos presented opportunities—perhaps it would be the very ladder his Tianfu needed to truly rise.
