Condra's eyes glimmered with a light of realization as he finally understood what the zebras were trying to do.
It was an idea so stupid that it could actually work. After some thinking, Condra calmed down as he felt this was normal, they were just sacrificing some members to save the whole herd.
But each zebra currently crossing the river didn't want to believe that it could be them, they could be the one that gets eaten alive, they could be the one that gets left behind.
By now, a good number of the weaklings among the zebras had been left behind before they had gotten to the river but some of them were not far behind and were still catching up.
One after the other, zebras jumped into the river, splashing water as they flowed against the soft current to get to the other side.
Even though they knew that this river was infested with crocodiles, they still continued jumping in. Perhaps, some zebras would be caught but they never believed it would be 'them'.
