Lucina woke up from her sleep, the pitch-black room was quiet as ever.
She reached for her cellphone, turned on the screen, and checked the time. The sudden bright light made it hard for her to open her eyes, and it took her a while to adapt.
The virtual clock on the screen showed it was 7 o'clock in the morning, three days since Chen Ke had left Opportunity City.
The basement didn't allow sunlight to seep through; all light came from electric lamps. Lucina opened her contacts, scrolled to Chen Ke's number, thought about giving him a call but hesitated for a moment before turning the screen off.
Tossing the phone onto a small table beside her, she turned on the desk lamp, swung her legs off the bed, and put on a thin shirt before heading to the refrigerator.
Pulling open the fridge, a gust of cold air hit her face, and she bent down to look inside.
Her gaze wandered between milk and juice. After a moment's consideration, she chose the milk and also took out three eggs.
