The shop is a business of the Chamber of Commerce, hence the facade is naturally high-end, with white walls and green tiles, even the doors and windows have exquisite wood carvings.
Above, a signboard hangs high, inscribed with "Exotic Western Gadgets."
Upon entering the store, a faint smell of sandalwood greeted the nostrils.
Several tallow candle lanterns illuminated the interior brightly.
On black rosewood shelves along the walls were various Western clocks and watches of different sizes, all intricately crafted.
Some were like miniature pavilions with flying eaves and columns, meticulously detailed with carved window patterns, and when the hands moved, it seemed one could hear the melodious chiming of bells...
Some were fashioned in the shape of carriages, with bodies inlaid with gold and silver thread, wheels that turned slowly, and a small clock face on top ticking away…
Besides the clocks, there were also several music boxes on the shelves.
