Synopsis
At first, everything looked normal… Well, “relatively” normal, at the very least. Get somehow transported to another world, discover that the world in question is related to the very familiar game of Monster Girl Quest, realize that you’ve been spawned in spitting range from Luka for some reason, and get mixed with the main story for your own sake… The classic, one could call it. But… something wasn’t right. The monsters, the people, the world, everything... It was all much more... "difficult" to handle. ––––– Needless to say, it's a Monster Girl Quest fanfiction with no crossovers present. If you wish to have a better experience, I suggest to read it from Archive Of Our Own where not only do I get to have a much better writing tab than what Webnovel offers me, but I also have added embedded images I've drawn myself through my horrible artistic talent and trying to do my best to make it look presentable. I've brought it here in case I get to hear more reviews related to the storyline, whether there is something to improve or anything else.

Chapter 1 - Matthias Nicolai, the Otherworlder

Monster Girl Quest, a pornographic game renowned among Monster Girl fans.

Anyone who liked that sort of stuff would eventually come in contact with the franchise: whether it was through memes, references, the web forums, the hentai animation, or the game itself.

But for the people who actually came into the game, thinking they would deal with a quick fap and go, would instead find themselves sorely mistaken with their original expectatives…

…As despite it clearly being a game filled with porn, femdom elements, and monster girls, it also held a dramatic story that managed to captivate a sizable fandom.

It featured Luka, a young and innocent hero with purple hair and big blue eyes.

His role was that of a world-saving protagonist, and his goal was coexistence between humans and monsters.

From there, he would meet with Alice, a mysterious but powerful lamia who came out of nowhere.

Unlike Luka, however, she participated in his journey for rather unsavory reasons: to watch him fail his quest for coexistence out of spite and entertainment.

And thus, the two of them departed, starting as nothing more than frenemies and developing a relationship as they progressed further.

Through their journey, they encountered many friends and foes alike, some of whom helped them, fought them, tricked them, or redeemed themselves afterward as the stakes got higher.

Of course, the original theme of the game was monster girls and reverse rape, meaning that there was also a lot of porn content involving Luka getting raped.

The game's title was "Monster Girl Quest: Lose and Get Raped!", after all.

However, between the fights and sexual assaults, Luka also had to face the true meaning of his journey and what it meant to be a real Hero.

He got to know Alice deeper and discover her backstory, also learning of her true objective for joining him that she had concealed behind mere schadenfreude.

He even learned the secrets of his parents, his father whom he hated so much – for creating a terrorist organization to hunt down monster girls – revealed to actually be someone who agreed with his ideals of coexistence.

And his mother, originally appearing to be a human like any other, instead revealed to be one of the three Seraphim from ancient times who fell from Heaven centuries ago.

It then reached its climax with a long battle against the Goddess Ilias, the same Goddess that guided Luka through his adventure from the very beginning, and refused to acknowledge his dream for coexistence because of her hatred toward monster girls.

She was powerful, so powerful that Luka and Alice could hardly defeat her by themselves.

But, with the help of the many allies they met and befriended across the story, they managed to clutch the victory by a landslide and save the world…

…At least such was the case until the game's sequel, Monster Girl Quest: Paradox, emerged a few years later and twisted the happy ending everyone got at the end of the first game.

But, ultimately, this was just a tale for the sake of entertainment, nothing more and nothing less.

Originally being a mere visual novel, there were many scripted battles that twisted the odds in the player's favor when the situation got dicey, or gave them hints to get past tough enemies.

It was less of a fighting game and more akin to a puzzle.

In the end, any average person could finish the game without much of an issue, as long as they paid a minimum of attention.

But was it so easy for the characters in the game itself?

Was it truly just a matter of having a keen eye?

Was it just about properly allocating resources at each turn during battles?

If the story of Monster Girl Quest ignored its game rules and destined narrative…

If the characters had their chains broken and were able to act as they pleased…

If instead of a game, it was a whole different world, would the story progress the same way as we knew it?

Fortunately, I, Matthias Nicolai, had a clear and concise answer to that big question.

Unfortunately… Well, long story short, I could have lived the rest of my life without having to know that answer.

But enough of that.

Instead of talking about me, let us just proceed with the answer to the big question, or rather, the story!

Yes, that's right! I won't end this conversation with a simple spoken answer after raising your expectations so much.

*Clap!* Not!

*Clap!* At!

*Clap!* All!

Besides, you're here to get entertained, not just to hear me talk.

Aren't you?

Because of that, rather than just telling you, I'll show it to you!

I'll show you how powerful the deceptively lewd monster girls of this world actually were!

I'll show you how much blood and violence was truly shed behind the facade of the so-called "harmless" sexual assault!

And… I'll show you how hellish my life had turned out trying to keep everything together, the obstacles and troubles showing up across my way, and the final result of it.

Because, let me tell you, it wasn't easy.

In fact, I had neither the time or opportunity to prepare for the disaster that was my first day.

I wasn't summoned there like some otherworldly hero in a manga, there was no warning from my side that such a thing would happen either.

I didn't even have a cheat I could put my trust into, not beyond my innate knowledge of the world that became obsolete before I even realized it.

It just happened suddenly, before I could even acknowledge what was going on.

Like…

…This.

"—Fuck!"

*CREAK!*

"Argh!"

*THUMP!* *THUMP!*

Two distinct screams echoed from a certain house in the countryside, followed by a loud creaking and then two heavy thuds on the floor.

Matthias Nicolai was among them, swearing and groaning on the floor as the impact left him in pain.

Fortunately, he was wearing a large winter jacket that absorbed some of it, so he wasn't left as hurt as he could have potentially been.

Unfortunately, that didn't change the fact that it happened, to begin with.

Confused and aching at the sudden fall, the young man tried to get up from the ground, only to be welcomed by a sight that left him even more bewildered than before.

Wooden unpainted walls, old furniture, cheap red curtains, warm and humid temperatures, bright light piercing through the window…

…There was absolutely nothing in the surroundings that he was familiar with, from the decorations to the perceived climate.

Before Matthias could attempt to make sense of his situation, however, his eyes met with the other presence in the room.

And, at that moment, he could scarcely believe what he was seeing.

A kid with… purple hair?

…He definitely didn't have a good childhood.

While Matthias was wondering about the boy's ludicrous hair color, the kid instead frowned in his direction and asked the following… question?

「え, お前は何者だ!?」

The young man blinked in surprise.

"Omae"—what?

That… That wasn't a language he understood, was it?

And, unfortunately, he was not knowledgeable enough in foreign languages to make any educated guesses.

"...Do you speak English?" Matthias asked slowly, accentuating each and every one of his words.

However, the purple-haired boy merely shared his exact expression as the kid spoke with their foreign language once again.

It didn't seem like either of them could understand each other.

'Great, just what I need.' An annoyed sigh left Matthias' mouth as he got up on his feet and looked around, familiarizing himself with his surroundings… and with his situation.

He wasn't supposed to be here.

He didn't remember walking in here, he didn't remember planning to come here, and he definitely didn't remember this place even existing for all he could think of.

It was as if he got teleported here… No, there was no if or buts, he for sure got teleported.

But where? Where did he exactly end up? Was this the kid's bedroom? How did it even happen? He was just doing… just…

...Huh?

"Wait, what was I doing before coming—"

「おい!」

"Huh?" Hearing a loud shout, Matthias couldn't help but get distracted as he turned his gaze back on the boy, only to be welcomed by a leather sheath quickly approaching his face.

"Shit!" He yelped in surprise as he backed away, creating some distance between each other.

"What's your problem, you brat!?" Matthias glared at the boy, who shouted incomprehensible words in return.

"I can't even under—Hey!"

「オラ!」

With a battle cry, the purple-haired kid rushed to him with his sheathed sword raised upward.

But while Matthias didn't have plenty of room to dodge, he wasn't particularly worried about it since the threat in question was merely a "club", which was why he simply raised an arm on the sword's path to block its cleaving motion.

However, despite the appearances, the kid's swing actually hurt plenty!

"Ouch! You bast—Fuck off, will you?!" He groaned, shoving the kid away with his foot upon seeing the sheathed sword raised again, before clutching his arm in pain.

The kid groaned back as he fell on the ground, his small body hardly putting up any resistance.

But, before he could get back on his feet, Matthias grabbed the weapon from his hands and pulled it away.

Matthias shot an annoyed glare at the downed child after disarming him, and stepped back as the kid shouted back in anger.

Considering the stretched arms and the glare the brat was giving back at him, Matthias didn't need to understand any language to know what he was asking for.

Of course, the young man wouldn't hand the sword over so easily.

「返して!」

The boy shouted as he got up and rushed up to Matthias, only to be shoved off again by his foot like the child that he was.

"Stay down, brat." The man said, despite knowing fully well that the boy wouldn't be able to understand him.

But that wasn't the thing that worried him the most, no.

If the boy indeed lived here, there was no way he'd be left alone as it was. With all the noise this kid was doing, his parents would definitely have heard it at this point.

Matthias had to get out of here, and as quickly as possible.

Matthias might be able to handle a stupid brat, but dealing with a possibly armed grown man was a whole different ball game! And if they called the police on him, too—

「た, た,大変だぁ!」

His eyes suddenly darted to the boy's figure once again upon hearing more screaming, but surprisingly, the kid appeared just as startled as he was.

Of course, he wasn't the one who shouted just now.

「近くの森に, 魔物が出たぞぉ!」

「みんな, 家に隠れるんだ ! 村に入ってくるかもしれないぞ!」

Both of their gazes moved toward the window, where the noise came from, with the boy actually moving up there as Matthias watched from afar.

And upon opening the window…

Screams, chaos, panic, fear.

Matthias didn't need to understand any of it to comprehend what was going on. Wherever this place was, the inhabitants inside were clearly going ballistic in sheer terror.

"What the hell is happening now…?" He muttered.

However, he knew he had no time to waste around here.

In fact, he even got the golden opportunity to leave!

And just like that, while the boy was distracted, Matthias immediately made a run for it and went out of the bedroom.

Fortunately, the path was clear, prompting the young man to hurry down the stairs that stood just outside of the room. He was even moving so fast he was almost flying downward.

At this point – even if the kid noticed Matthias' escapade – there was no way he could catch up with those short legs of his, especially with the young man already being halfway through climbing down.

All that was left to worry about was how to get out of the building before the adults came by…

「おい! 剣を返せ!」

…Or at least, such were Matthias' thoughts before he glanced behind, only to end up seeing something that made his heart skip a beat in horror.

The brat jumped from the flight of stairs and was falling toward him.

"You—!"

*—CRASH!*

"Argh!"

Bright stars sparked in Matthias' vision, blinding him from the spinning world; sharp impacts pierced through his skin and muscles, causing pain all over his body.

His sense of balance was thrown out of the window, and so was his control of the situation.

Matthias curled into a fetal position, shielding his body from the sharp corners of the stairs while enduring the pain within.

Fortunately, this awful moment lasted only for so long before he reached the cold, tough, wooden floor downstairs.

Unfortunately… Well, he did just fall from a flight of stairs.

There was no way he could be fine under these circumstances.

And yet, despite his body being covered in red bruises, his mind was focused solely on a single thing.

'That fucking brat…!'

"Aaagh… Shit, fuck…!"

That was it.

He was done playing nice, the kid was going to catch the belt now…!

As soon as he was going to get up, and as soon as he was going to get his hands on that shit stain—

"—Urgh! Fuck…" A painful groan escaped from Matthias' mouth as he tried to stand up, only to be met with shocks of pain traveling through his body.

Even with his jacket softening the blows, his entire body was aching from the several impacts he just received.

「私の剣を折ったぞ!」

Unfamiliar words entered Matthias' ears, only to be registered as high-pitched ringing that left his head spinning.

Ugh… And now he was starting to feel sick.

If only he could rest a bit…

…But he knew he couldn't stay down, especially not with that kid and his parents around. He couldn't be seen in such a vulnerable position.

「あ゙あ゙゙ああ゙゙」

"Shut that damn noise…!" Matthias grumbled, white noise echoing in his ears and grinding in his brain.

Then – once again – he tried to stand up, using irritation from his current discomfort and animosity against the brat to support his movements.

He crawled up from the floor and got to his knees, all while pain flared across his limbs, as if begging for mercy.

It was truly painful, the most painful sensation he could remember ever feeling…

…But he gritted his teeth, enduring it all.

In fact, he further channeled all that agony as he pushed himself up to his feet.

With a tilted vision slowly stabilizing itself, and an annoying ringing in his ears gradually disappearing, Matthias looked out for the kid as he gazed at his new surroundings.

However, he was nowhere to be found.

There were just empty tables and chairs around this large hall, akin to a bar—No, a tavern.

His eyes narrowed at the sight, before something caught his attention below.

Surprise flashed across his eyes as he found the kid's sword snapped in half near his feet, entirely separating the sheathed blade from the hilt. Noticeably, the floor also displayed signs of damage.

The sword most likely bent when he fell from the stairs, and snapped against the floor.

"Great," Matthias muttered. "Trespassing and property damage."

Fortunately, there was no sign of life in sight, meaning that nobody had seen what happened.

On the other hand, the kid was nowhere to be seen either…

Logic and emotions were clashing in Matthias' mind, leaving him thinking about whether he should just take a run for it while nobody was seeing him, or chase after the kid for the beating of a lifetime.

He really didn't want to mess with a whole family on his own for terrorizing their child and causing damage to their property.

But he also really wanted to slam that brat's head against the curb.

In the end, logic won out, and coincidentally, Matthias' gaze set on a large double-lidded door that separated him from the outside world.

As good as it'd feel to bring pain to that little kid, it wasn't worth the trouble.

With tired but firm steps, he approached the exit door, hoping that he wouldn't be caught by the resident household.

Fortunately – or strangely enough – he reached the door undisturbed, and promptly opened it wide…

*Creak~*

…But what welcomed him beyond was anything but expected.

Wooden houses, grassy dirt roads, cows and horses, agriculture fields—A countryside village?

Without even being able to process the sight in front of him, Matthias' eyes set on a few people wandering around, covered in actual armor plates and equipped with matching swords and spears—

"—A knight!?" He shouted in disbelief.

One of them turned around, making eye contact with him, and they suddenly started marching in his direction.

They were shouting back and pointing behind him authoritatively, but Matthias didn't even bother listening. He merely shut the doors between them and kept himself inside.

His blank gaze remained fixed to the door as he processed the sight that he just got welcomed with.

What on earth was going on out there?!

Curiously, Matthias approached a nearby window and looked outside, watching the scenery beyond the wooden window.

The knight that was approaching him already got off to their own way elsewhere, showing that they didn't seem to care about him as much as Matthias originally thought they did.

However, his gaze lingered on their figure for only a moment, before his attention was immediately captivated from other things around.

Architecture of old times, common folk straight from a renaissance painting, absolute lack of technology, and armored soldiers isolating the local people within their houses…

…He wasn't hallucinating, this was an actual village of a past era, and it appeared to be under a state of emergency as for now.

Wh—What… Wwwwas this some site for shooting a movie?

Was he somehow sent to such a secluded town they were several centuries behind the modern world?

Did he get sent off to a fantasy world of some kind?!

Wh… Where in the absolute FUCK was he?!

For a moment, the recent events related to the reckless brat were temporarily forgotten as Matthias' thoughts shifted to more important matters.

His hands slowly approached his pockets, patting around until he found what he was looking for, and consequently pulled it out.

It was his phone, of course.

There were several cracks spread across the screen, but the device still worked without major issues.

Without missing a beat, Matthias went up to his GPS to find his whereabouts. Surely, he should be able to get a clear answer from it.

With satellites spread everywhere across the world, his device would be located regardless of the absence of Wi-Fi or mobile data.

But, much to his surprise, the screen didn't showcase anything after several seconds, which was… worrying to say the least.

After all, the only reasons for the complete lack of response would be either: one, he was somewhere underground; or two, there was electronic interference blocking the signal.

And considering that he was pretty much within the most retrograde village that came up to memory…

…Well, damn.

He might actually have to reconsider his situation.

The language barrier, the weird hair color of the kid, the sword in his possession, the old structures surrounding him, the armed knights outside the building, the lack of technology, the unexplainable warping that preceded all the aforementioned issues…

…If he considered it all as consequences of being transported into another world, it all made sense.

However, that shouldn't be an achievable situation… Should it?

'I mean, it's all fantasy in the end…' Matthias thought reasonably, pausing for a few seconds as he reminisced on the story trope in question.

Traveling to another world, "Isekai"...

Most shows and books that featured that trope involved a person being transported from their world to another one, which usually held a lot of differences from the previous world: technological or otherwise magical by nature.

Although, in most circumstances, the action of world-hopping didn't start from the original world, so…

'...Could it have happened from this side?' He countered his own previous argument.

Unless he truly was out of touch with the current state of affairs in the most tragic way possible, there was no physical teleportation, no in-a-blink-of-an-eye dimensional warping, no breaking past the speed of light, and that was to not mention whether other habitable planets even existed.

This situation was entirely supernatural for an earthling like him, but that was the case only if one used ordinary standards to judge it.

If Matthias let go of such preconceptions, it wasn't hard to understand the circumstances surrounding him.

But…

"This is fucking bullshit."

…Realization settled in.

After all, beyond the question of "how" he was magically transported into another world, there was the fact that "he was magically transported into another world".

Just as before, Matthias remained completely still, but a perceptive gaze could easily see the turmoil happening in his mind and translated across his body.

His hands clenched into a solid grip, his throat tightened to the point of suffocation, his teeth gritted against each other, and his breathing started to get ragged.

His heart palpitations felt unusually loud to his ears, while – in contrast – the commotion that was still happening outside was gradually turning into mere white noise.

He was in another world…

He was in another world…!

He was in another world!!

Fuck, he was in another world!

*Step!* *Step!* *Step!* *Step!*

Heavy steps followed Matthias as he stepped away from the window, all while swears and curses flew out of his mouth.

"Fuck, fuck, fuck, fuck!" He muttered. "No, no, no, I can't do this crap now…! Are you fucking kidding me?!"

His hands went up to his head, grasping at his hair; the bruises across his body turned into merely an afterthought; and, as he marched backward, his legs suddenly hit a chair standing in his way.

His pupils shrunk as they spun around and focused on the chair, his fists slowly started to tremble with accumulating anger as seconds ticked by, and without any warning—

*—CRASH!* The chair flew off as Matthias kicked it with great force.

"What the hell is even this?!" He screamed in outrage. "What the hell am I even supposed to do here?! Dammit!"

*Slam!* His fist slammed onto a table standing beside him, albeit it hurted him more than it did to the table itself.

"Ugh…!"

HE COULDN'T DO THIS!!

HE WAS NO FUCKING PROTAGONIST, GODDAMMIT!

HE DIDN'T KNOW SHIT ABOUT TREKKING, CAMPING, FARMING, OR FIGHTING, AND HE CERTAINLY WAS NO GODDAMN STEVE IRWIN!!

SO WHY?! WHY WAS HE HERE?!

WHY, WHY, WHY?!

Why?!

Just… Why him?

"Fuck, fuck, fuck this shit…" Matthias sighed in exasperation as he covered his mouth with one hand, thinking about the following issues beyond his current circumstances.

It… It happened, that's that.

It didn't matter anymore.

What truly mattered now was that Matthias was now stuck in this new world with nothing but his own hands, feet, and a phone with no connection to the outside world.

Complaining wouldn't get him anywhere, that was for sure.

But still, what was he supposed to do now?

'Should I… go outside and talk?' Matthias thought, before shaking his head.

'No… I don't even speak their language, I can't ask about shit with the people here.'

'But then what else can I do? If I can't even communicate with people, how can I learn anything?'

'Maybe I can try using… Sign language? Or maybe drawings? Drawing sounds like a good way to communicate.'

Ideally, his phone could work as a drawing board, but only for as long as its battery lasted.

He needed to find a physical substitute, something where he could draw and erase as he pleased… Like a chalkboard?

'Maybe there's something here?' Matthias thought, his gaze wandering at his surroundings.

But—

—A bright light shone everywhere, momentarily blinding Matthias.

In reaction, he couldn't help but cover his sight with one arm, stunned by the intense light flashing onto his eyes.

However, once his sight adjusted to the sudden shift in the surrounding lighting, he was left awestruck as a completely different sight welcomed his eyes.

'…Heaven?'

That was the first word that came out of his mind as he looked around, observing the new changes.

Golden clouds flew far and wide across the sky, a marble-paved floor extended through the ground.

A solemn light blessed the scenery with clear brightness, while complete silence accentuated the atmosphere.

The pandemonium from outside was extinguished in an instant, but – unlike before – a new person now stood in front of him.

Fitting the local setting, the person in question appeared to be an angel: a woman with white wings behind her back and long golden locks on her head.

Albeit… Her supposed pale silky dress wasn't as modest, revealing quite a cleavage in the middle of her bountiful chest, and stripes of her naked thighs between the gaps of her brazen gown.

In fact, if one looked carefully, it was possible to see beyond the cloth's fabric and gaze into her naked body. One could even see pink nipples on her chest, and a small and cute bellybutton on her abdomen.

All in all, she resembled a sexualized version of a biblical angel, although she notably lacked a halo to match the rest of her appearance.

On the other hand, she also held a particularly stern expression as she gazed right into his eyes.

It was as if she was trying to judge – or rather – to assess him.

Of course, Matthias wasn't intimidated by such a thing. Far from it, actually.

It wasn't for an obvious reason such as lack of knowledge or fear, however.

There was something buried within his memories that was responding to this entire sequence of events, and – with that – Matthias wasn't just referring to this place.

The kid with striking purple hair he met some minutes ago, the chaos raised by the villagers and soldiers outside the tavern, and the apparition of this familiar-looking angel…

…He might just be tossing rocks in a lake with this guess, but wasn't this particular arrangement very similar to the starting plot of Monster Girl Quest?
