"Yeah," he said. "Real quiet. Like… someone flicked his soul out from across the city while stirring tea." He knew it was Damian.
Damian didn't say anything. Just rinsed the shaker and placed it down carefully.
Cassius exhaled and leaned back. "Also—Fae noble family? Marenvell's?"
"Executed?" Damian guessed.
Cassius nodded. "Fae King passed judgment this morning. Public trial. No drama. Just clean magic, a truth spell, and… pfft. Gone."
"Let me guess," Damian said. "It had something to do with that ancient scroll?"
"Yup. That dumbass stole it to summon that trent. I almost died cutting through that overgrown bastard's root heart."
"Marenvell himself?"
Cassius snorted. "Weak. All bark. No bite."
Damian's mouth twitched. "At least they're finally facing consequences."
Selena finished hanging a drying rack and walked over, brushing pollen off her arms. "It's not perfect. But it's progress."
