The last bell of the day rang across the rooftops, signaling curfew. People hurried home.
Except for them.
The ragged guy lunged with a sickening snap of its jaw.
Valeria ducked low, the rush of stale breath grazing her cheek.
"Mister, can you calm down!"
His clawed hand whooshed past her shoulder, missing by inches.
Her heart pounded in sync with muscle memory as she shifted her weight and steadied her footing.
Valeria dodged again, Is this guy drunk or something? He's not even listening? Should I just hit him?
His fingertips scraped the edge of her collar, a motion too clean for something dead.
He grunted, lurching again, too fast, too fluid.
That's no drunk guy.
Valeria gritted her teeth, flipping backward as the creature pounced again.
Her boot caught the wall and rebounded her upward. In one motion, she twisted midair and landed behind him.
"Don't blame me for this–"
Valeria then swung her legs onto his opponents' head. Just enough to knock him out.
