The Execution 2

"Audacious!"

The man calmly wiped her spit of his face, still the majority were in uproar.

The guards quickly pinned her down and this time bound her tightly, under his empty gaze. Was it hatred , spite or... she couldn't remember for at some point in that stunt she pulled her blindfold was loose and the first and last thing she saw was the same eyes she was taught to love and admire. She couldn't understand and even now, she still remembers. This scene.

The blindfold was retightenned but the lords were unamused, their frowns reaching the floor. Still, the man did not react, he signaled for the crowd who was ready to rally one more time to quiet down and left, ordering the execution to proceed. Leaving the disgruntled citizens behind, the woman reached her hands out to the air, even now she is still confused, blind even with two working eyes.

Everone watched her act strangely, then hoisted once more this time more tightly to prevent any more incidents that could delay the appointed time.

Courtiers upon the platform looked at this and snickered silently, his hooded eyes glancing discreetly at a man that seemed to age 10 years over night. His eyes flashed in triumph.

' that dead girl'

A few men will never forget this day.

The aged man sighed before looking straight at the girl being positioned under the guillotine. His eyes trailed the bridge nose and that umistakable shade of her hair. The unshakable proof of the blood running in her veins. When, the sudden commotion among the crowd caught his attention.

A familiar acquaintance that he couldn't be more familiar with. Maybe, after this he should take a sip of wine. His shoulders slumped helplessly as he sighed again.

Except, for that commotion.

The entire event concluded in pure still, with no words or speeches spoken.

Everone watched solemnly. Even now, commoners would discreetly remark on how absurd the execution was. To express their dissatisfaction, some even grumbled her name. No longer scared of the woman when she was dead.

However, till the final moment, when the announcer lifted his palm up to signify silence. No one dared to challenge him, particularly the person behind him. The sun rose, and time came upon us. The moment her blindfolds were removed, under the sharp blades of the guillotine. Everyone swallowed their tongues in silence.

Some women have even spat.

"So what if she's so beautiful, she's going to die anyway?"

"I have heard, she couldn't keep a man."

Some snarked. "I heard she had an affair."

"Shhh, she's looking this way." Those guilty squeaked. But, those cowards who said that would be met with disgust, since the girl is already dead. How could she be a threat to anyone in this condition? Everone thought so in their hearts or atleast convinced themselves in one way or another.

Still, some felt this unshakable shiver ran down their spines. It was truly odd.

Despite their fears, disdain, disgust or negativity , no one could take their gaze away from her. The irony.

Unconcerned by the fascinated crowd, the woman simply glanced at a specific location and mumbled, "..."

The silent buzz drowned her last words.

When the blades that hung high were lifted and with a thud came down with swish.

She remained so pristine until the very end. Blood trickling from her body like shedding tears when you cry.

The sun bathed her in light, bringing her warmth even in death. That's how she died. How her father described her death.

Everyone dispersed, as if they were never there. As if it never existed in the first place, along with her name, which vanished with the wind, never to be spoken again.
