Chapter 297 - CA [297]: Incident

The Tomahawk missile, battle-tested through numerous conflicts, excelled at striking ground targets, especially sealed structures like Cochlea. The ghoul detention facility was no match for it.

The missile pierced the roof, plummeting straight into the central hall where the ghouls had gathered.

Having already been exposed to suppressant smoke grenades, the ghouls, now reduced to ordinary humans, were obliterated by the missile's devastating blast.

A cruise missile's destructive power far surpassed that of a grenade or RPG. Altair had gone to great lengths to secure this weapon, infiltrating a U.S. destroyer at Yokosuka Port.

It took him just ten minutes to learn how to launch the missile, and he fired it while the crew was off guard.

The stunt sent the U.S. Navy into a frenzy, scrambling to investigate who had launched the missile.

Though they dismissed Japan's importance, an unauthorized strike could lead to complaints, risking budget cuts that would hurt their operations.

The Tomahawk landed with precision, annihilating the gathered ghouls.

They had barely tasted freedom after escaping their cells, only to be stripped of their powers and then obliterated by a high-yield cruise missile while still in their prison uniforms.

In the enclosed space of Cochlea, there was no room to hide, no cover to shield them. The confined environment amplified the explosion's force, ensuring no ghoul survived.

These ghouls, notorious for their killing sprees, had no redeeming value in Altair's eyes. When Eto proposed attacking Cochlea, Altair had been clear: they all had to die.

Eto agreed without hesitation. Despite being a one-eyed ghoul, Eto was a traitor to her kind. Armed with Altair's suppressant technology, she had one goal: erase ghouls from existence, returning the world to humans alone.

Altair's decree was absolute, and Eto complied without question. The freed ghouls perished, along with Aogiri Tree's own operatives sent on the mission.

The casualties included the organization's radical faction, such as Gecko and the team leader, Kirishima Ayato.

Altair showed no favoritism, even for Ayato, the brother of a key figure in the Tokyo Ghoul world.

In this reality, most ghouls survived by preying on humans, often attacking them willingly despite other ways to obtain sustenance, like scavenging corpses. To Altair, their choices justified their fate.

The Tomahawk's reliability was unmatched. It not only eradicated the ghouls but also reduced Cochlea to rubble.

The collapsing structure buried any survivors, and those transformed into humans stood no chance against the crushing debris. Without immediate rescue, survival was impossible.

But would the CCG mount a rescue? Clearly, they had no intention of doing so. After reporting the incident, their leadership was gripped by fear, not of the ghouls, but of the supposed Americans.

Everyone had seen the missile launch from a U.S. destroyer in Yokosuka Port, a brazen military strike on a Japanese facility. To the CCG, it signaled that the U.S. had grown tired of Japan's ghoul problem and decided to intervene directly.

The CCG personnel caught in the blast were simply collateral damage. The attackers, believed to be Americans, prioritized wiping out Cochlea's ghouls, indifferent to the human cost.

Japan, aware of the U.S.'s involvement, dared not protest. The CCG, led by the ghoul Washuu family, was even more paralyzed.

A missile strike on their facility left them terrified that the next one might target their headquarters if their true nature was exposed.

This created a bizarre stalemate. Japan feared U.S. repercussions and couldn't challenge the attack, nor could they placate the CCG.

The CCG, wary of their ghoul leadership being discovered, avoided any protest, accepting the loss in silence.

The U.S. Navy, unaware of who had launched their missile, was too embarrassed to confront Japan, fearing their own mistake would be exposed. They pretended nothing had happened.

In this delicate balance, Japan, the CCG, and the U.S. Navy avoided action, maintaining an eerie harmony.

The CCG paid the price: their ghoul detention facility was destroyed, and they hesitated to rebuild, uncertain if another missile strike loomed.

As for the ghouls, their deaths were deemed inconsequential.

The airstrike decimated Aogiri Tree's main forces. The elite teams they had painstakingly trained were wiped out in a single blow.

However, this loss further reduced Tokyo's ghoul population, particularly the powerful ones, to an all-time low.

The strongest rogue ghouls were either imprisoned in Cochlea, part of Aogiri Tree, or had been converted into humans during Aogiri's recent purges.

Thus, Tokyo's ghoul numbers plummeted to historic lows. Altair and Eto's coordinated plan was nearing its final stage.

Hi guys, Elenea here! I just want to announce that starting now I'll be trying to focus on my own original fanfic, which I've been thinking about for the past few days (lol I really mulled this over briefly for a few days and decided I'm going to make it a full novel).

[Worse Than the Devil (DxD)]

Synopsis:

Devil.

An evil and chaotic creature, born from hell, which are often a scapegoat for humans. Blamed for the atrocities they themselves commit.

"The devil made me do it."

A phrase always uttered by humans after committing crimes, casting blame and responsibility for their wrongdoings onto the devil.

But not all humans are like that, for there is one man who would gleefully commit atrocities that would be condemned by all of human history and accept the blame and responsibility for those wrongs with open arms.

His name is Michael, but in stark contrast to the meaning of his name 'Who is like God' he is not a devout man who draws near to God's embrace. Instead… he is the one who sends lost sheep to meet God's embrace much faster.

Btw, a quick note before you decide to read, if you have a heart as pure as glass, I suggest you don't read this because it REALLY gets dark to early. The first chapter will give you a little idea of what I might explore later on in this fanservice harem-themed world like DxD.

Adios!
