Chapter 589: The Divine Weapon Order, Experts from the Hall of Souls
"The Heavenly Mysterious Treasure Hall is opening?"
Inside Yuan Mansion's main hall, Mo Yu was initially taken aback when he heard Bing Lao's report. But soon after, a look of joy appeared on his face.
Ever since Mo Yu had won the championship at the Artifact Refining Competition, which granted him the opportunity to enter the Heavenly Mysterious Treasure Hall, he had been eagerly awaiting the moment he could enter. However, the Heavenly Mysterious Treasure Hall, being a mystical object from another realm, was highly unpredictable, and its activation times were irregular.
Thus, Mo Yu had been waiting for several years, and now, he finally received news that the treasure hall was about to open.
"Bing Lao, is it true? When and where will it open?" Mo Yu quickly stood up, looking at Bing Lao in excitement. Even Uncle She was curious as he turned his attention toward Bing Lao, having heard some rumors about the mystical properties of the Heavenly Mysterious Treasure Hall.
In response, Bing Lao didn't keep them in suspense and replied directly, "Yes, Master. The Heavenly Mysterious Treasure Hall is hidden in the Eastern Region of the continent and only reveals itself when it's about to open. According to reports from our people at the Hundred Weapons Hall, someone spotted the shadow of the treasure hall near the Thunder Abyss Mountain Range in the Eastern Region. If nothing goes wrong, it will fully reveal itself within half a month."
"Half a month?" Mo Yu rubbed his chin, thinking the timing was tight, but manageable.
"But..." Bing Lao hesitated before continuing, "When the treasure hall appeared this time, it released ten mysterious tokens. These tokens are quite special and can grant access to the treasure hall's domain. I suspect these tokens are somewhat similar to our alliance's Divine Weapon Orders. Even non-refiners can enter the treasure hall with these tokens."
Hearing this, Mo Yu was momentarily stunned, then his expression turned serious. "If non-refiners can enter the Heavenly Mysterious Treasure Hall, does that mean my status as the champion of the Refining Competition is now useless?"
Bing Lao felt a little awkward at this, realizing that the traditional reward of access to the treasure hall for the competition champion had been undermined by the appearance of the mysterious tokens.
Understanding the situation wasn't Bing Lao's fault, Mo Yu waved it off and, as if a thought had occurred to him, asked, "Bing Lao, do you have the Divine Weapon Order with you? Let me see it."
Bing Lao smiled and nodded. "Yes, I brought it with me to hand over."
With a flick of his hand, Bing Lao's old fingers brushed over his storage ring, and a flash of light shot toward Mo Yu. In the next moment, a strange glow emerged from the light and slowly dissipated, revealing a small, ancient bronze token, triangular in shape and roughly the size of a palm.
The token was covered in a dull green hue, resembling the grime of centuries past. On one corner of the token, two ancient characters could faintly be seen.
"So, this is the Divine Weapon Order..." Mo Yu gently rubbed the token in his hand, whispering to himself.
In the past, the Hundred Weapons Alliance could grant the Refining Competition champion access to the treasure hall because they controlled this Divine Weapon Order. It was said that this token had been obtained by an ancient refiner within the treasure hall many millennia ago and later found its way into the hands of the alliance. With this token and the status of a refiner, one would not be rejected by the treasure hall.
Looking at the Divine Weapon Order, Mo Yu thought again of the ten mysterious tokens that had appeared from the treasure hall. He furrowed his brow and turned to Bing Lao. "Is there any information on who has obtained these mysterious tokens?"
Bing Lao thought for a moment before shaking his head. "I'm not sure exactly who holds them, but reports suggest that several powerful factions in the Eastern Region have obtained some of the tokens. However, I suspect that the larger ancient clans and superpowers of Zhongzhou will eventually learn about the tokens, so many of them will likely end up in the hands of these factions."
Mo Yu nodded in agreement but then grew even more concerned. If in the past he had been the only one with access to the treasure hall, things would have been simple. But now, with ten mysterious tokens granting entry to non-refiners, the competition had become much fiercer.
The Hall of Souls, in particular, wouldn't let such an opportunity slip by. Given the treasure hall's mysterious origin, the Soul Clan might also have designs on it. Moreover, the Eastern Region was home to the Gu Clan, meaning they would likely gather several of the tokens and secure a significant number of spots.
Although Mo Yu had a good relationship with Xun'er, the Gu Clan and Xun'er were two different matters entirely. Additionally, other ancient clans, the powerful beast clans, and even the Pill Tower would likely get involved, making things much more complicated.
But Mo Yu wasn't one to back down from a challenge. Despite the growing competition, he still had confidence in himself.
"It opens in half a month, does it?" Mo Yu said, rubbing his chin. "Alright, I'll take the old monster of Tianming Sect with me. Uncle She, you stay behind and guard the Yuan Mansion."
Even though the treasure hall was crucial, Mo Yu couldn't leave his home base undefended. After thinking it over, he decided to only take the old monster with him.
Uncle She thought for a moment and then nodded slowly. The old monster of Tianming Sect was powerful, nearly as strong as Uncle She himself. Moreover, after being subdued by Mo Yu's Black Lotus Soul Thunder, the old monster's loyalty was guaranteed, making him a reliable companion for this journey.
Having made up his mind, Mo Yu wasted no time. After spending the next five days with Xiao Yu and the others, he set off on his journey once again.
High above Yuan City, Mo Yu and the old monster flew side by side. Mo Yu waved at Xiao Yu and the others in the distance before adjusting course with the old monster to head straight for the Eastern Region.
Both Mo Yu and the old monster were Dou Sheng-level powerhouses, so their traveling speed was beyond what ordinary experts could match. By directly tearing through space, they arrived in the Eastern Region in just half a day.
The last time Mo Yu had come to the Eastern Region was during the journey to the Heavenly Tomb, where he had glimpsed the wonders of the ancient Gu Clan's domain. This time, although he didn't enter the Gu Clan's territory, the peculiar atmosphere of the region left a lasting impression.
As they walked through the city, Mo Yu could feel the buzz in the air. Whispers and rumors flowed throughout the land, with all conversations eventually circling back to one central topic—the Heavenly Mysterious Treasure Hall.
Whenever someone mentioned those four words, greed flickered in their eyes. Everyone familiar with the situation understood the significance behind them.
The Heavenly Mysterious Treasure Hall was said to house Imperial Weapons.
Two simple words, "Imperial Weapons," were enough to send waves of desire through even the most seasoned warriors. In the ancient past, even Dou Di powerhouses might not have possessed such weapons. And even if these were mere fantasies, obtaining an 8th or 9th-tier weapon would be enough to make countless people green with envy.
What drove the frenzy even further was the appearance of the ten mysterious tokens that allowed unrestricted entry into the treasure hall, causing even more hearts to race with desire.
Thunder Abyss Mountain Range.
A dense crowd had gathered in the area, and the roar of countless voices combined to form a mighty wave of noise that reverberated far and wide.
Mo Yu and the old monster hovered in the air, gazing at the massive crowd of over a thousand people below. Both raised an eyebrow.
Originally, the existence of the Heavenly Mysterious Treasure Hall was a well-kept secret, known only to a select few. But the appearance of the ten mysterious tokens had sparked a mad scramble among various forces, and the secret of the treasure hall was soon widely known.
Many of the people gathered in the Thunder Abyss Mountain Range had no hope of entering the treasure hall themselves but had come simply to witness the excitement.
Ahead of the crowd stretched an ancient forest, emanating a primordial aura. Towering trees, hundreds of meters tall, stood like giants, their dense canopies blocking out the sun. Farther into the forest, an unsettling darkness loomed, and from time to time, the terrifying roars of ferocious beasts echoed from within, sending chills down the spines of those nearby.
This forest was part of the Thunder Abyss Mountain Range, a forbidden zone in the Eastern Region, nearly as dangerous as the Ancient Desolate Domain.
"Let's go check out the treasure hall," Mo Yu said to the old monster, his eyes narrowing as he prepared to enter the ancient forest. With a flick of his toe, he launched forward, transforming into a shadowy blur as he sped into the forest. The old monster followed closely behind.
Moving at lightning speed, the pair reached the depths of the mountain range in just ten minutes. There, on the summit of a massive mountain, an enormous open space resembling a giant square came into view, already filled with people. This, it seemed, was the spot where the treasure hall would soon appear.
Upon seeing the scene, Mo Yu and the old monster concealed their auras and blended into the crowd.
As they walked through the throng of people, Mo Yu noticed that no one paid them any special attention. Relieved, he relaxed a little.
Scanning the crowd, Mo Yu didn't recognize any familiar faces, which surprised him. Could it be that the mysterious tokens hadn't ended up with the powerful factions after all?
Pushing aside his doubts, Mo Yu continued walking until he reached the center of the mountain summit. There, he saw a massive stone platform, several hundred meters in diameter and two meters high. Fewer people were gathered on the platform compared to the crowd below, but the people on the platform all shared one characteristic—their auras were incredibly powerful.
Mo Yu raised an eyebrow at this and scanned the people on the platform. His eyes soon landed on a group of about twenty people, exuding a savage and menacing aura. Leading them was an old man in a black robe.
The old man's aura was restrained, but upon closer inspection, Mo Yu could feel a terrifying suction power emanating from the man's mouth whenever he closed it.
Standing behind the black-robed old man were three figures Mo Yu recognized, causing him to mutter to himself, "Little Heavenly Demon Trio?"
These three were the experts from the Sky Demon Phoenix Clan whom Mo Yu had encountered during his time with the Dire Lion Clan. If not for Uncle She's timely intervention back then, Mo Yu might have found himself in serious trouble.
Seeing these three confirmed Mo Yu's suspicions about the group's identity. They were from the Sky Demon Phoenix Clan.
This revelation caused Mo Yu's expression to harden. It was clear the Sky Demon Phoenix Clan had also obtained one of the mysterious tokens and intended to claim a share of the treasure hall's spoils.
With the Void Ancient Dragon Clan embroiled in internal conflict, it seemed the Sky Demon Phoenix Clan had grown more ambitious.
As for the black-robed old man leading the group, his high standing within the Sky Demon Phoenix Clan was evident, as even the three half-saints of the Little Heavenly Demon Trio stood behind him.
This man had to be one of the true Sky Demon Trio, and the strange suction force coming from him likely marked him as Kun Huang, one of the three great Sky Demons.
While Mo Yu was observing Kun Huang, the old demon seemed to sense something. His cold, vicious eyes turned toward Mo Yu's direction, and upon recognizing Mo Yu, Kun Huang's expression darkened, a glimmer of killing intent flashing in his eyes.
However, the killing intent quickly faded. Despite his hatred, Kun Huang wasn't confident enough to take on Mo Yu, a fellow Dou Sheng, and wisely held back.
Mo Yu raised an eyebrow at this but smirked disdainfully. "Coward."
Yet just as Mo Yu relaxed, he suddenly felt a chilling gaze lock onto him. At the same time, a cold, murderous voice rang out across the mountain summit.
"Mo Yu, I didn't expect to see you here. Perfect timing—we can settle both old and new grudges today. This will be your death day!"
Hearing this, Mo Yu froze for a moment and then turned his gaze toward the source of the voice. His expression darkened slightly.
High above the summit, a cold snort echoed through the air, followed by a surge of dense black mist. From within the mist, a skinny, skeletal figure slowly emerged, exuding an eerie, chilling aura.
Recognizing the figure, Mo Yu's expression turned grim.
