Chapter 375: Soul Power of the Seventh Rank, Phoenix Bone Wings
After refining the ten claws of the Sky Demon Phoenix corpse, Mo Yu's gaze shifted once again to the main body of the dried beast.
He knew that the pale white flesh held significant value as well.
Without further hesitation, Mo Yu waved his hand, and a large piece of the pale flesh was pulled toward him by a surge of suction. With a flick of his finger, the Vermilion Bird Sky Flame Thunder flared up, enveloping the chunk of flesh.
As the lightning surged around it, terrifying electrical currents seeped into the flesh. The crackling sound of electricity filled the air, and the size of the chunk slowly began to shrink under the intense heat and lightning.
After about five minutes of refining, the large piece of flesh, originally the size of a table, had shrunk to about the size of a human head. Its pale white color faded, and a mix of green and red began to appear on its surface.
The more the lightning refined it, the more vibrant the green and red became.
Eventually, the colors condensed into a single drop of green-red liquid, which oozed from the flesh, passed through the lightning, and dripped down.
Mo Yu caught the drop in a jade bottle. He brought the bottle close and took a light sniff, immediately inhaling a strong, wild energy that surprised him with its intensity.
The wild energy was quickly refined by the lightning within Mo Yu's body, but the pure, abundant energy quietly spread throughout his body.
"This blood indeed has the effect of enhancing physical strength," Mo Yu muttered, raising an eyebrow.
Smiling slightly, he reached out and drew in another large piece of flesh, once again summoning the Vermilion Bird Sky Flame Thunder.
Over time, more pieces of flesh were refined, yielding several more drops of green-red liquid.
However, Mo Yu was somewhat disappointed to find that, despite refining nearly half of the room's worth of flesh, he had only managed to obtain a mere five drops of the precious liquid.
Shaking his head, Mo Yu stored the five distinct drops of green-red liquid in the jade bottle for future use.
After refining the flesh to obtain the blood, Mo Yu continued to use his powerful soul energy to search the dried corpse. He eventually found a green-red seventh-rank magic core—a significant reward.
After storing the seventh-rank magic core in his beast ring, Mo Yu had almost completely exhausted the value of the magical beast's corpse. Only now did he shift his focus to his main goal—the pair of jade-like bone wings.
However, knowing that the secluded chamber wasn't ideal for refining the Nine Phoenix Wings, he cut off the bone wings and headed directly to the back mountain of Mo City.
Placing the jade bone wings in front of him, Mo Yu waved his hand, and a golden scroll appeared. It was the Nine Phoenix Wings crafting manual.
He gently unrolled the scroll and focused his mind, carefully studying the detailed steps of the crafting method.
After nearly an hour of careful reading, Mo Yu finally finished going over the entire scroll. He then looked at the bone wings in front of him, thoughtfully rubbing his chin.
The key to crafting the Nine Phoenix Wings was the quality of the materials. According to the scroll, the higher the level of the wings used, the more powerful the resulting wings would be—but this also increased the risk of refining them.
After all, even if a high-level magical beast was dead, its lingering will was not something an ordinary person could refine. It could even harm one's mind.
But Mo Yu wasn't afraid. Instead, he felt eager to try.
Without further delay, he glanced at the bone wings one more time and made a hand seal.
His silver eyes slowly closed, and a powerful surge of soul energy began to flow from the center of his forehead. Carefully, he directed the energy toward the bone wings, wrapping them in his soul force.
Boom!
The moment Mo Yu's soul force made contact with the jade-like bone wings, a deep rumbling sounded in his mind. His vision blurred, and the world around him abruptly changed!
He found himself in a gray, lifeless world.
Suspended in midair, Mo Yu's soul looked around this bleak, empty space and murmured, "So this is inside the bone wings, huh?"
Roar!
Suddenly, a deafening beastly roar echoed from within the gray mist, filled with a violent and terrifying energy.
As the roar sounded, the gray mist, as if given orders, surged toward Mo Yu, enveloping him in a suffocating wave.
Roar!
The gray mist condensed into a vague beastly shape. Its blood-red eyes, filled with rage and brutality, locked onto Mo Yu, and with another roar, it charged toward him like a rampaging rhinoceros.
"Hmph, just the residual will of a mere Sky Demon Phoenix. Don't get cocky!"
Mo Yu's eyes were cold as he waved his sleeve. In an instant, Black Lotus Soul Lightning surged from his body, forming black lightning lotuses that shot toward the incoming gray mist.
The Black Lotus Soul Lightning sent the gray mist into a frenzy. Like encountering its nemesis, the mist scattered in fear, but under Mo Yu's control, the lightning relentlessly pursued, swallowing the gray mist bit by bit.
Some of the black lightning returned to Mo Yu's soul after devouring the mist. To his surprise, he realized that his soul power had subtly increased.
Realizing what was happening, Mo Yu smiled. He released even more Black Lotus Soul Lightning, sending it out to hunt down the gray mist in this eerie space.
The once intimidating gray mist was now reduced to a desperate, fleeing foe.
As Mo Yu continued his relentless pursuit, more and more of the gray mist was devoured by the Black Lotus Soul Lightning, returning to his body as nourishment for his soul.
After about half an hour, the gray mist in this space was completely gone.
The wild energy that had previously filled the area was also extinguished. Clearly, the lingering will within the jade bone wings had been entirely consumed by Mo Yu's soul force.
Floating in the empty space, Mo Yu's soul hovered in midair. He glanced at his now stronger and more solid soul form and couldn't help but smile.
At this point, his soul power had reached the seventh rank, comparable to that of a Dou Ancestor!
With the residual will of the jade bone wings now fully refined, the most troublesome part of crafting the Nine Phoenix Wings was over.
From here on, it would just be a matter of following the process step by step.
On the mountain cliff, Mo Yu's eyes slowly opened. A glimmer of light flashed through his silver eyes before fading away.
The breakthrough in his soul power had been unexpected, but it was a tremendous gain.
With seventh-rank soul power, crafting seventh-rank weapons would now be a breeze for Mo Yu. Even participating in the Central Plains' crafting competition would no longer seem daunting.
Coming out of the joy of his soul power breakthrough, Mo Yu turned his gaze back to the jade bone wings floating in front of him.
After the recent refining, the wings seemed even more translucent, and the fierce aura that had once seeped from them was now much weaker. Clearly, the refining had been very effective.
With a light motion of his hand, the jade bone wings fell into Mo Yu's grasp. They felt cool to the touch, yet there was a faint warmth beneath the coolness, giving a comfortable sensation like warm jade.
Holding the bone wings in both hands, Mo Yu flicked his fingers, and a blazing, flame-like thunderstorm surged from his body, condensing into a fiery cloud in the air in front of him.
Controlling the temperature of the Vermilion Bird Sky Flame Thunder with his soul power, Mo Yu tossed the jade bone wings into the fiery cloud.
As soon as the wings entered, the red flames blazed even higher, and the temperature in the chamber skyrocketed, turning the room into a furnace.
This intense refinement lasted for about two hours before the jade bone wings finally began to change.
A thick, viscous drop of jade-colored liquid oozed from the translucent surface of the wings, slowly falling into the flames below.
The first drop of jade liquid seemed to trigger a chain reaction. Soon, more and more jade liquid dripped from the wings, accompanied by soft dripping sounds.
In less than half an hour, a small ditch about half an inch deep had formed under the wings, filled with jade-colored liquid. The wings themselves had shrunk by nearly half.
Seeing this, Mo Yu flipped his hand, and a dozen silver bones appeared in his palm. With a toss, these bones were thrown into the flames.
The silver bones disintegrated into fine silver powder, merging with the jade liquid below.
These silver bones came from a lightning-attributed magical beast and still contained residual lightning energy.
By mixing them into the liquid that would form the flying wings, it would enhance the wings' power after they were completed.
After throwing in the silver bones, Mo Yu continued taking out various other strange items from his beast ring—feathers, sharp bones, and small wings.
Though these items varied in appearance, they all shared one trait: they contained some form of energy. While not incredibly powerful, they would give the flying wings an added boost.
In total, Mo Yu added about twenty different items. As each one melted and merged with the jade liquid, the liquid grew denser and richer in color.
As time passed, the jade bone wings continued to shrink, while the pool of jade liquid grew larger and more concentrated.
Drip.
The process took a full two days and nights, something that even surprised Mo Yu.
When he finally opened his eyes after this long period, the first thing he did was look at the fiery red thunderstorm in front of him.
Taking a deep breath, Mo Yu released his soul power, which surged from his forehead and quickly entered the flames.
The next moment, Mo Yu saw the embryonic form of a pair of wings within the thick jade liquid.
A smile appeared on his face as he willed the temperature of the Vermilion Bird Sky Flame Thunder to rise sharply!
The intense heat only lasted for a few minutes before gradually receding. As the lightning fire was reabsorbed into Mo Yu's body, a tiny pair of wings, no larger than his palm, shimmered with a soft jade glow and floated gently in front of him.
Looking at the miniature wings, Mo Yu smiled. He bit his finger, allowing a drop of blood to fall onto the wings.
The moment the blood touched the wings, they absorbed it instantly and began glowing intensely. With a swoosh, they transformed into a beam of light and shot into Mo Yu's body.
As the wings merged into his body, Mo Yu felt a burning sensation in his shoulders, and then the pair of pale purple Cloud Wings he previously had fell off from his back.
The newly refined bone wings had forcibly pushed out the Cloud Wings, but Mo Yu wasn't surprised. After all, these were the powerful Phoenix Bone Wings made from the Sky Demon Phoenix corpse!
Mo Yu willed his new wings to emerge, and with a loud whoosh, the massive bone wings, glowing with a jade-like radiance, burst from his back.
As the wings flapped gently, they created a soft rumble of thunder and sent powerful gusts of wind sweeping through the forest.
After briefly testing the energy contained within the wings, Mo Yu retracted them with satisfaction.
In a flash of light, the bone wings shrank and disappeared back into Mo Yu's body.
With the wings now fully integrated, Mo Yu smiled.
The Golden Goose Sect had become the overlords of their empire not just by luck. The Nine Phoenix Wings were indeed an extraordinary tool for escaping danger—it was a top-tier technique for survival.
Now that the bone wings had been successfully refined, Mo Yu felt much more confident about his journey to the Central Plains.
Even if he encountered powerful enemies that he couldn't defeat, he would at least have a way to escape.
With the short-distance teleportation power of the Void Lightning, combined with the formidable Phoenix Bone Wings, Mo Yu would be able to hold his own even against the peak Dou Ancestor experts.
