Chapter 43 - Chapter 43: fall of a hero

Garp's Armament Haki was developed to an extraordinary level.

With just one punch, the shockwave could level an entire town.

Its power was no less than Whitebeard's legendary attacks.

At this moment, Garp's Fist of Love Impact created a massive shockwave that spread across the inner bay. The force was so overwhelming that it swept away countless individuals, raised enormous waves on the sea, and rocked the gigantic warships, which were like floating fortresses. Some ships even capsized.

"Ahh…!"

Pirates fled in all directions.

Those who were too slow were lifted off their feet and blown away by the shockwave.

Many were sent crashing into the encirclement wall, while others were launched into the sky, only to fall into the sea moments later.

For a brief moment, it was as if pirates were raining down from the sky.

Even Whitebeard was affected by the shockwave.

However, with just a breath, Whitebeard dispersed the shockwave effortlessly.

On the White Whale...

"What kind of power is this?!" Doflamingo gripped the ship tightly as it shook violently, like a raft in a storm. "The shockwave from a single punch has made the sea itself churn wildly! The White Whale almost capsized… Is this the strength of Hero Garp, who once fought Roger?!"

These legendary figures...

Each one is as powerful as the stories say.

Doflamingo was truly frightened at that moment.

At the center of the shockwave, Kaido was the primary target.

Everyone else only experienced the aftermath, but Garp's main focus was Kaido.

Kaido faced Garp's attack with just his mace. He didn't use Conqueror's Haki, Armament Haki, or any special techniques—just a basic attack. Kaido wanted to test the power of his supposed "invincible" attack strength. The result surprised him.

"Garp's attack is strong, at least King-level x3."

Kaido, having fought numerous battles at King-level x2, was skilled in judging attack power. "But with just an ordinary attack, it feels like hitting tofu with a stone. Garp's strike doesn't put any pressure on me."

Is this what invincibility feels like? The power is beyond comprehension.

Then, Kaido swung his mace again.

The shockwave from Garp's punch began to disintegrate from within.

After a moment of energy distortion...

Boom!

The shockwave exploded like an over-inflated balloon.

"Huh?!"

Garp was shocked.

This was the first time someone had broken his attack in such a way, as if popping a balloon.

It had never happened before.

The Navy, witnessing this, was disappointed. The shockwave from Garp's fist had obscured Kaido's figure due to its large range.

Of course, they hoped Kaido had been crushed by Garp's punch.

But it was obvious things wouldn't be that simple. Their expectations were overly optimistic.

"Vice Admiral Garp can't take down Kaido that easily…"

"After all, he's one of the Four Emperors."

"But Garp fought the Pirate King, Roger. He's beyond the level of the Four Emperors. Garp will definitely win."

The Navy remained confident.

In the inner bay, Garp landed.

After breaking Garp's attack, Kaido stared him down and said, "You're truly worthy of the title of Hero, Garp. You're incredibly strong. Now, it's my turn."

With that, Kaido disappeared.

He reappeared in front of Garp.

Kaido had enhanced his movement speed to King-level earlier.

At King-level speed, most couldn't keep up.

To them, it was as if Kaido had vanished, disappearing in an instant.

Even figures like Marco, the Seven Warlords, and the Navy Vice Admirals couldn't react fast enough. Only those at Admiral-level could track his movements.

"So fast!!!"

Sengoku was shocked.

Kaido's speed exceeded all intelligence reports on him.

It was another unexpected factor.

Akainu stayed silent but widened his eyes in disbelief.

That speed… it was almost comparable to Kizaru's.

"How can he move so fast…?" Aokiji muttered in surprise.

It's one thing to have fast attack speed, but mastering such rapid movement speed was something else entirely.

At least for Aokiji, Akainu, and even Whitebeard, Kaido's speed was beyond their capabilities, showing how difficult it is to train movement speed to such a level.

"Could it be because of his fruit development?"

Even Kizaru abandoned his usual laid-back attitude. At this moment, he focused intently on Kaido, analyzing the reason behind his incredible speed.

How could Kaido be so fast?

Kizaru's speed, granted by the Pika Pika no Mi, surpassed Kaido's current pace. But that was because he could turn into light.

Kizaru couldn't maintain light-speed movement in human form. He needed to transform into light to achieve such speeds.

So, if Kaido could move this fast without a light-based fruit, how had he trained for this?

In the world of One Piece, movement speed was one of the hardest abilities to perfect.

Even Whitebeard, the world's strongest man, moved at the speed of a turtle compared to Kaido.

Kizaru sensed the danger and kept thinking, but he couldn't understand how Kaido had achieved such speed.

The Blue Dragon Fruit shouldn't have enhanced Kaido's movement like this.

"How many secrets does this guy have…?" Kizaru fell silent.

In the sky, Garp remained calm.

He could react.

His fist, covered with Armament Haki, swung toward Kaido.

Kaido's sudden appearance barely surprised Garp, and it didn't disrupt his movement. His fighting instincts were so deeply ingrained that they wouldn't falter, not for a second.

Kaido's mace came crashing down as well.

Still no Haki.

Still no special techniques.

Just a simple, ordinary attack.

It collided with Garp's iron fist, coated in Armament Haki.

For a moment, the world seemed to stand still.

But in that silence, both Garp and Kaido were continuously pouring power into their weapons—the mace and the iron fist—locked in a fierce stalemate.

A huge explosion formed at the point of impact.

Shockwaves rippled outward.

The clouds in the sky dispersed instantly, leaving the heavens clear.

Massive waves rose on the sea below.

"The ship is capsizing…!" Doflamingo was horrified.

He didn't want to fall into the ocean.

He wanted to flee, but couldn't.

His strings stretched outward, but the impact shattered all of them instantly, backfiring on him and causing injury.

Trapped on the capsized White Whale, Doflamingo watched the sea approach with terror. He was completely helpless.

Whitebeard stood tall, unshaken, his cloak billowing in the wind with his usual domineering presence.

But the pirates surrounding him were not so fortunate. They were swept up into the air by the overwhelming force.

There was no need for them to enter the square through the gap in the encirclement wall anymore; they were directly hurled into the square in large numbers.

Even the square wasn't spared. Although the encirclement wall blocked part of the impact's aftermath, it could only do so much.

Navy soldiers were also flung into the sky.

From a distance, it looked as if balloons or kites shaped like pirates and navy officers were scattered across the sky. The once grand Marineford, which had already turned into ruins, was further broken apart, debris splashing into the sea with a loud crackling sound, creating countless waves.

Meanwhile, Garp and Kaido remained suspended in the air.

Directly below them was the sea.

The ocean's surface surged outward, forming enormous waves that crashed toward the square, engulfing many people, including Devil Fruit users who immediately lost their powers.

Right below Kaido, the ocean water spread out so much that the seabed became exposed.

A number of fish were left stranded, struggling in disbelief on the now-dry ocean floor.

But before they could comprehend their predicament, they were crushed by the immense shockwaves from the battle.

In the sky, the clash between Garp and Kaido persisted.

The stalemate lasted about twenty seconds.

Suddenly, Garp's expression changed.

The outcome had been decided.

Garp, weakened and running out of strength, was beginning to overextend himself. Meanwhile, Kaido still had seemingly boundless power surging within him.

Garp lost his balance.

He plummeted from the sky.

Boom!!

He crashed into the square, kicking up a massive cloud of dust and debris.

As for Kaido...

He landed on top of the encirclement wall, gazing down at the scene below with a cold, victorious air.

Now that the battle between the two titans had concluded, the navy and the pirates began to recover from the shockwaves. The chaos in the square began to subside.

Everyone's eyes turned to Kaido, who stood like a devil on the wall.

Then they looked at the enormous cloud of dust and debris rising from the square. There was no doubt...

That's where Vice Admiral Garp had fallen.

"Vice Admiral Garp... we lost!!"

The navy was gripped with terror.
